  1. ? One Cub is from Ohio, so you come to this odd conclusion. It's in MLB's best interests to play game 7 in the home of the team that deserves it. I'm glad they've finally brought to an end the horrible idea of having home field advantage determined by a gimmick All-Star game. Horrible. Just should have happened earlier.
  2. MLB finally has the sense to change home field advantage in the WS to the team with the best record. Good move. One year too late for the Cubbies though. Imagine the scene in Wrigley if they'd won that game 7 at home.
  3. step on up - lotsa room on the bandwagon.
  4. you misunderstand the point about the playoffs - I can't be bothered to argue whether it's reasonable or not to think they're going to make them - I'll leave that to the weathermen around here - but you post that the Canucks should pursue Kane because they're chances of making the playoffs are hopeless - that makes literally no sense. If they were looking to add a guy like Kane, it would be to enhance their competitiveness this year, not because they've written the season off.
  5. and therefore they'll be riding out the two years at 6 millon and then who knows what.
  6. The Canucks don't need 'tradeable assets' imo for Kane - I think you're going to find that you're in a Kassian/Yakupov type of situation - I'm sorry (yeah, not really) you gave up so much for Kane but lowered expectations are probably a good bet where a return is concerned. You're probably looking at riding out that two years and 6 million cap hit. If you could get a Sbisa for him, count your blessings - but I doubt the Canucks would roll the dice on him - or make the cap space to fit him in. Your playoff opinion is also counterintuitive.
  7. CFL notorious for great playoff games. This weekend was no different. Kudos to the Saskatoon Hilltops and their coach Tom Sargeant - Canadian Junior champs for the 3rd straight year and 6th time in 7 years. #Dynasty.
  8. Very good signs for the Hawks imo. The O-line actually looked solid last night. I doubt the Pats were expecting to be challenged on the ground that often. Prosise's mobility and Wilson getting his legs back could make a huge difference for that group. Hats off to the dynasty Saskatoon Hilltops on their 3rd straight Canadian Junior football championship and 6th in 7 years.
  9. Loui has been the team's best corsi stache thus far. It was/is only a matter of time before he gets a few breaks and/or bounces.
  10. LOL. Someone sounds like he's trying to talk himself out of the nervousness of the reality of the Larsson-Hall deal. Combine that with who your GM is and I think the nerves are warranted.
  11. The money the Jays saved in signing Morales vs JB might actually enable them to remain in the game for EE - reports seem to suggest this signing reduces the chances of EE returning, but is that necessarily the case? I'd think EE might like the possibility of almost exclusively playing first? Anyhow regardless of what pans out, it's hard to argue with that Morales signing.
  12. I like the Morales signing and the fact they put the screws to Kansas in the process. Have to wonder whether they're second guessing the decision not to give him a qualifying offer. 17.2 might have been pushing their comfort zone, but 30hr (after such a slow start last year) and 52 in two seasons in Kansas.... I dunno. He's 33 and all, but I'll take that contract. He may hit for better average from the right side, but his power doesn't sag from the left, and the Jays needed that option in their lineup. Gotta give Atkins some kudos on this signing.
  13. If he's (JB) more spot duty and DHing do you think they should bring him back (sounds like he's lowered expectations or at least his agent has) or do you want to move on regardless?
  14. Best of luck to Dickey. He was an entertaining guy to watch, and you just never knew - but he did his job and ate lots of innings. I think the rotation will be healthier without him at this point though. I'm optimistic that EE and JB will be returning. I think Bautista faces a tough market after his season, and if it comes down largely to his history with the club the Jays probably have a good shot or coming to reasonable terms with him. EE - it's hard to see him in another uniform - I think he'll wind up back in Toronto in the end once all the tire kicking ceases - who knows - but just a hunch. I do have to say though that I have more confidence in Atkins than Shapiro and I like his 'presentation'. There were some things (and lack of) that they did or didn't do last year that I was not a fan of, but in the end I think the sum of their deals deserves a pass / some credit, particularly what Happ did to rescue what I think was a poor decision to consider Stroman ready to be an ace. Sanchez's emergence didn't hurt either. Huge fan of Grilli and the Liriano deal was a good risk imo. I'm more optimistic that despite the effect Rogers has on their leeway, Atkins has gained my confidence to a large degree. I think he'll be able to reasonably patch a competitor back together - I'm probably most curious about what he'll do to get some more speed and bat control in the top of the order. I haven't minded the lead with power approach given the makeup of the team, but whether EE and JB are back or not, most of us think they need more utility.
  15. I liked the Okposo and Brouwer options - but you can't always get what you want. I think adding Brouwer to the mix would have been a very good balancer - bringing some heaviness and upside at a reasonable term/caphit - but he chose Calgary. As far as Lucic - meh - I can just imagine what Eriksson could do with a pair of linemates like McDavid and Eberle. Erkisson will be fine imo. He's doing everything well, except the finish/luck aspect, which everyone goes through.
  16. try again hippy. the only 'angry' I get over something like hockey is that the NHL has maintained open season to head-hunt players like the Sedins throughout their careers. otherwise I don't give much of a crap. this meaningless sh!t is a nice alternative to the real world. Btw - quoting yourself above? Really? The humility!!!
  17. You strike me as a real humble guy yourself (....that's one of the most arrogant statements I've seen on these boards). Enjoy the smugness at Eriksson's expense while you can - and hope it lasts. As bad as people like yourself think he is - he's still the best puck possession player on this team through 11 games. https://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/ratings.php?disp=1&db=201617&sit=5v5&pos=skaters&minutes=25&teamid=29&type=corsi&sort=PCT&sortdir=DESC Defense. Yeah. Scoring will come. "O hai" k.
