  1. Loved Francona as a player - hard not to still really like the guy.
  2. I realize that, but if you're winning and your catcher is hitting less than a buck, and holding it down behind the plate, it's not a problem (as with Cleveland right now) - but if you're losing, your play behind the plate is one thing (somehow I doubt Martin would be happy in general) but you still need your bat to do some talking, regardless.
  3. really don't like this pbp, colour crew - game's more enjoyable on mute - that's CBC bad.
  4. Actually, he's saying they need to let their play do the talking.....and unfortunately, his bat is silent - that may be 'like it is' but it's not what I want to be 'hearing'.
  5. Disappointing that Stroman would serve that up after getting pounded by him last at bat. Anyway, gotta keep getting on base and produce some different results.
  6. big strike zone. He's giving Kluber a pitch nearly every at bat.
  7. I'd say it's a relative no brainer considering the 32 million in retained and Dickey money coming off the books, that they're already 20 million under the soft cap even with those on the books, and his QO doesn't really take away from the 50ish million they should have to work with. EE, Saunders - and beyond that, guys like Benoit, Cecil... they're in a solid position. I'm pretty firmly expecting that they pony up to JB. Aside from the loyalty, character and sheer clutch player that he is, there's the team identity and that of the fanbase, which imo has earned and should get what they want. I think in general most people would/should jump at a one year 17 million deal - if he'd accept that. I suspect he'd want more term and I think a year or so more may also be reasonable.
  8. Not sure about the long term club at age 35, but the 20+ club is another question. I'm torn on this - I'd love to see him back, but there's no hard cap in baseball - and the Jays are well under the soft cap. They have 20 million retained, 12 more million expiring in Dickey and aside from Saunders, not a lot to pony up to UFAs aside from EE and JB. So while I'd love to see JB come back - I also want to see Rogers pony up and pay these guys. It's a vibrant market that supports it's team - I think it needs to shell out. This is Rogers after all. I'm in Joey Bats corner - pay him handsomely, but a reasonable term given he's 35.
  9. Shapiro lookin' like a friggin genius right now......but I aint buyin'. I still think he's an annoying dimwit lol.
  10. I still do. Bring the Expos back MLB, you frign dumbasses. Anyhow, I'm sick of waiting. Let's get this series on! Thankfully, a game tomorrow.
  11. yeah - me too. Loved both teams - and they were in separate leagues, and never really faced off except in the "Pearson Cup" (otherwise they were 6 and 6 with each other in meaningful games in the interleague series they actually played). So it was easy to remain loyal to both. But the Nats - I couldn't really care less about - however I'd like to see almost anyone beat the Dodgers, and a starter coming on in relief to lose it to the Nats would have had a bit of odd historical reversal about it. But...wasn't meant to be.
  12. I was a diehard Expos fan when I was young and will never, ever forget Blue Monday. I hope the Cubs destroy them. Or the Blue Jays That would be some sweet payback.
  13. Come on. Let this be the revenge of the Nats - for the Steve Rogers, Rick Monday heartbreaker. one of the worst days in baseball history. and the tables are set to be reversed, with the Dodgers bringing in a starter in relief. c'mon Murphy.
  14. Zobrist is a piece of work. Glad that monster is in the National league (and on the Cubbies).
  15. What a clutch top of the 9th. Haven't the Giants won like 11 straight elimination games or something. Like that team, but really want to see the Cubs in the World Series.
  16. He can throw a decent punch......but can he throw to 1st?
  17. I watched that about 20 times on pvr after the game - but it's still sweet....
