  1. yeah, he's been solid. nice to see in an elimination game.
  2. Ripken's such a 'good ole boy.' Never cared for that 'apple pie' thing of his.
  3. No, I don't think - I said it cause you preach it. 1st and 3rd - leadoff hitter up, JD on deck - 1 away. 'Modern' MLB - doesn't lay a bunt down. Perfect situation to both push the run across and advance the runner. I think skillsets / the craft of the game - have actually devolved in MLB - not just TO.
  4. that's a quick pull. nice to see him outta the game. Carrera clutches up again. another good bunting situation with Pillar at 1st....
  5. Stroman would be the 4th guy I'd want to see go in a game like this, but he has the ability to step up - let's hope he's got his A stuff tonight - looked decent in the 1st.
  6. Yeah and he certainly looks like he has life left in that arm.
  7. Quickly becoming one of, if not my favorite He reminds me of GMJB - if he were a 39yr old reliever haha. Joey Bats officially hits the 20 mark giving the Jays 7. Looking like they could gel at just the right time.

  9. Looking at today's lineup, the Jays had 6 straight 20 home run hitters in the lineup: Donaldson Encarnacion Bautista (technically, 19, but he's missed 150ish at bats) Martin Tulowitzki Saunders (with Upton also at the 20hr mark - and Smoak at 14 in 292 at bats). Travis hitting over .300. Pillar aint half bad either. That's a nasty lineup. If they can get the rotation rolling...
  10. that was u.g.l.y. it's not easy to run on catching legs, particularly late in the game, but that was entertaining.
  11. I like Gaunce and think he's here to stay. But otherwise I don't really care about a point like the bolded one. If we look at the overall reality of 1st round picks where the current team is concerned: 2nd overall 1999 3rd overall 1999 3rd overall Gudbranson 2010 (late 2014 1st, 2nd converted) 6th overall Virtanen 2014 9th overall Horvat 2013 11th overall Sutter 2007 13th overall Baertschi 2011 (2nd converted) 19th overall Sbisa 2008 (Kesler converted into part of Gud, Sutter and Sbisa) 26th overall Gaunce 2012 29th overall Etem 2010 (converted 29th 2011) 23rd overall Boeser 2015 5th overall Juolevi 2016 Only the Sedins are over 26 yrs of age. 8 first round picks from the 8 years dating from 2007 to 2014 (2007, 8, 10 x 2, 11, 12, 13, 14) in the lineup. Only 2009 is not represented (Jordan Schroeder) - however Rodin, their 2nd that year is still in the mix. A pretty good haul of 3rds, 4ths and 5ths from 2011-14 in the system (Tryamkin, Hutton, Subban, Cassels, Grenier...) It's the 2nds from 2008 on that were dealt most often, but still have Demko 36th 2014 Markstrom an acquired 31st overall from 2008 Rodin our own 2nd 2010 Granlund a 2nd acquired for our 2013 late 1st. This team has done fine with it's picks over the past decade - particularly their 1sts where they've seldom missed a beat, and the ones they have dealt have been converted into altogether acceptable replacements.
  12. that strikezone hahaha Trumbo gotta sit down can't be taking close two strike pitches with this ump.
  13. Love how jacked up Grilli gets. Rubs off. Teams need guys like him. (The Canucks coulda' used a few more the past half decade). That was a sweet comeback. Nice to see Upton's game really come around - he struggled early, just hadn't dialed in yet - but he's looking like a guy that could help push this team.
