  1. Why not? I also think it's advantageous that all the potential suitors are in the East - and that the Canucks aren't presently considered a Cup threat. We need this kind of out of town help. The idiot media in this market is more anxious to inform who is out of the market as opposed to who is in. Either they love trolling the home team, or just plain stupid.
  2. I realize they stated it as fact, but that doesn't convince me. The Province has posed many things as fact - that Luo refused to waive to go to Toronto for example - that the Canucks were perilously close to a trade demand from Hodgson lol (sorry, that's true but really just a joke)... Anyhow, I generally consider Kuzma to be more reputable than his peers, but the fact he qualifies his claim as "the Province has learned" as opposed to he himself has a source.....that makes it slightly more dubious and possibly the work of the crypt keeper, or Botchwords, so I can't take it too seriously at this point.
  3. Don't worry. Any time a sentence starts with "The Province has learned" you can take it to the bank that it's worthless speculation.
  4. Less. Jensen is not only a sniper - he has wheels. Quite fast for his size actually.
  5. Perhaps we can solve both those problems - roll with including Umberger's three years if they save the Nucks a Booth buyout. Kesler Booth Dubinsky Jenner Erixon Umberger.
  6. Funny "advice" that his coach and/or GM may not have found quite as funny. To quote a poster above who is critical of Tortorella for his decision: "Little things like this make all the difference." Luo can talk about trying to keep it in the locker room until he's blue in the face - what he does is spill it in the scrum time and time again, and then feel sorry for himself when the team's interests come before his.
  7. Oh I've heard the rest of the story alright. It's just not written very well.
  8. What a load of contradictory crapola where Sutter is concerned. Tries to sell him as a guy who needs top 6 opportunities to be more productive offensively. "If you like advanced metrics he measures up very well in terms of shutting down opposition's top lines.." Yes, we like advanced metrics and the reality is that Sutter is falling between 20th and 23rd on the Penguins in terms of quality of competition - so the story that he's facing opposition top lines night in night out and shutting them down....doesn't hold advanced water. So let's call it what it is; trying to upsell Sutter. What is additionally patronizing is that the Pens think so highly of Kesler to consider including Pouliot in a deal....but not Maata. Maata is a 19 yr old with 6 blueliners playing more minutes a game, two more guys playing less than a minute a game less than him.... http://www.behindthe...34 45 46 63 67# The Pens have a whole lot in their blueline prospect pool and a whole lot of guys ready to play NHL minutes. The loss of Letang alone does not change that, whereas Martin returns in a few weeks. No matter how you slice it, he's not their 'now', he's their future.
  9. It means rain on your wedding day poetica/professor. Ok. I'm done. I like you and value your input on these boards, but I've grown very grumpy in relation to the "poor Luo story." Agree to disagree.
  10. The ironing here - take issue with the franchise - without crapping on it with words like "classless" and "embarrassing" - the opening volley in this 'discussion' - and then folks like yourself are in a position to ride this kind of high horse - until then, the self righteousness is certainly falling on deaf ears.
  11. The Maata can't be traded storyline doesn't stand up. http://www.behindthe...34 45 46 63 67# Martin will be returning in a few weeks. Maata is a 19 yr old - he's not the 'now' of their playoff hopes. Kesler on the other hand... They're welcome to Diaz if they want more depth for their playoff run. Kesler Diaz Maata Sutter Bennett/1st DuMoulin.
  12. Maata and Couturier need to be the starting points for Pitts and Phil, otherwise Columbus is in the driver's seat, with better options quite frankly.
  13. And then phoned Rossi and said, hey, I just told Vancouver I'd give them anything it took. Can you tweet that please?
  14. Couldn't agree more. But, but...Schenn has more offensive upside, and we need that... Except that it isn't that simple. What isn't debatable is what you point out - the Couturier is the better two way player, and handles much harder minutes against stronger competition, and has for a few years now . What is debatable is who actually has more offensive upside - given the fact that Couturier is playing the harder minutes, has handled far more defensive zone starts over his career, and has better underlying numbers and yet and entirely negligible difference in their offensive production. For me, it's Couturier or forget it. There are other deals out there to be made with better assets than Schenn imo at the center of them.
  15. Ok Bud. I hear your pretentious, selective high road regarding childish insults, and promise not to embarrass the fanbase with further classless comments that fail to blindly pay homage to our demigod netminder. People who are "embarrassed" or feel starting Lack lead to unnecessary "bad press" might want to rethink how much they care about eastern media coverage, and the separation between themselves and others in general - that would make a valuable philosphical inquiry imo. Again a straw substitution doesn't quite represent - if you want to re-word your claim and qualifier to "if you have never" taken issue with the dramatizing about Luongo's alleged "mistreatment", then yes, that is certainly the point at which my support for Luongo turns to disagreement with the divisive and childish prioritizing of the interests of a particular personality over the interests of a team and franchise. Anyone who thinks that Luongo's "funny" commentary on the potential of a Kesler trade can't just a easily be read as classless, self-serving/selfish, risky and ill-advised are naive. For a guy who allegedly doesn't need any more drama, that fed straight into the trolls agenda and is easily interpreted as a direct shot at his GM. To add to it, in the following days he offers up stuff like "I don't want to go through this again".... At this point, I do, and I want a different result this time. Whatever Luo's trade value is at this point, I'm prepared to accept that and let him start the next chapter of his career with his next team.
  16. Oh I see - you would have made even more obvious sense if you had more time. Ah, our loss. Here, you may need a reference point for your fourth line theory/application. http://canucks.nhl.com/club/stats.htm but to answer your lol, or whatever your point was, you make a good point - you should disregard performance and always go with the older guy with worse numbers who pouts publicly when he doesn't get to play - that would be the superior 'team' approach.
  17. Can we just open up the official Luongo trade thread V 9.0 and get it underway?
  18. Well I've left Schroeder out of the prospect pool as well. Like Corrado, he's been cracking the NHL roster / on the verge of commanding a roster spot ie NHL ready.
  19. He would be the main man in Florida, and despite their season, I don't think they're as far from being a playoff contender (or the Islanders) as it may appear in the present. The talented youth they have is enviable for sure.
  20. Is this sarcasm? Yeah, I've been voting for Hutton for the Hobey Baker and all, and I like Tommernes and Blain as well, but Hutton is 20 and I'm not exactly expecting him to step into Edler's spot. I also don't consider him yet the talent that a 19 yr old like Maata is, exceedingly comfortable on the Finnish Olympic team and on an NHL blueline. And as good as those young Canuck blueline prospects may be, I consider the balance to be strongly in faviour of the forward ranks with Jensen, Gaunce, Horvat, Shinkaruk, Cassells, Grenier, Archie...
  21. The irony here is that all you are doing is begging the question. Don't treat your star player like what? Not starting him? That is not 'mistreatment' - it is a legitimate coaching decision - one that Alain Vigneault also made countless times, because like Lack, Schneider continuously posted better numbers than Luongo. You are substantiating precisely what I am saying - "how is it disrespectful when you disrespect someone" - the logic of your denial is precisely to beg the question - but what you've failed to substantiate is the actual substance of this "classless", "embarrassing" alleged "disrespect". It may appear incredulous to you - because you have such tunnel vision regarding the matter. Perhaps some folks here should resist forming their opinions based so substantially on the irrational rants of Don Cherry. Eddie Lack .924 sv %. It's as simple as that. Lack has better numbers - and has faced every bit the quality of opponents in achieving them. That is how you earn starts. If you're looking for "disrespect", look no further than Luongo's comments on the possibility of a Kesler trade. What is truly incredulous here?
  22. Read them all. not starting a goaltender is not mistreatment. People will have to do better than that or it's really just unsubstantiated, overdramatized whining.
  23. Not sure how you could have missed it - it was wall to wall with Kesler's comments. Do you think TSN would have missed the opportunity to roll that scrum repeatedly? "Whether he wants to go or stay, he's not going anywhere," Luongo said. "We all know how this script ends." I'm sure you're fairly adept with google though, so fill your boots. "Classless", "embarrassing" etc is dramatic whining in my books Poetica. There is no such thing as "everyone else's opinion" - that kind of straw misrepresentation is a non-starter and precisely the sort of thing I'm talking about when I say you have oversimplified and misrepresented my input on these boards. What you actually said was "you keep posting the same thing in every thread" - but re-quoting one post in this thread doesn't represent. I've also called Luongo a HOF goaltender, I maintained his value all along, starting in a blog where I refer to him as "the real deal"- I endlessly defended him against misrepresentations that his comments after the LA playoff loss constituted a 'trade demand' - when what he actually said, under pressure from a bunch of bottomfeeding local media in a scrum, was that he would waive if asked to do so, and do what was right for the team. What I will not do is pretend that his numbers (or situational play) was better than Schneider's, nor better than Lack's. He is in a legitimate competition for starts - that is how professional sports work. The Canucks starting role, and team Canada's for that matter, are not patronage appointments. Even Luongo has to continue to earn his starts. Making stupid comments that feed the trolls at the expense of his management and organization don't exactly win him any victim points. The irony as far as I'm concerned is that the most embarrassing and classless comments regarding Luongo have come from the Eastern media - who ran him down incessantly - and then occassionally pretend to be his champion when it suits a different cause - ie trolling the Canucks management or coaching staff. Aside from that, the most embarrassing comments were his own - "my contract sucks". And now - "we all know how this script ends". Hopefully it ends soon, and with him somewhere like Florida.
