  1. Canada could play a run and gun game with the US and beat them 6 times out of 10, or they can play solid Canadian two way hockey and beat them 9 of 10. They went with the better odds and dictated their game.
  2. Not only was it a gold medal game, but the women's teams play together year round - and the Gold medal game is the apex of it all. I personally value the women's win more - and with all due respect to the US men, they're not necessarily the sole rival to Canada - any of Sweden, Russia and Finland are every bit as much a threat as the USA. These men's teams are thrown together for a few weeks - yeah, it's a big deal - but a single elimination semi doesn't really stack up, particularly with SCF playoffs looming - to a four year summit which is what the Olympics represent to the women's game. The women's win carries another level of meaning, particularly when those players can scarcely make a living playing the game. I'm happier for the women tbh.
  3. Win win for Canucks fans in the Gold Medal Game. Daniel had an unreal game in the semis - was his gigantic self - and propelled a large part of that victory. Edler was rock solid and anchored Karlsson very effectively. Nice to see, and it will be great to see them go for Gold.
  4. Bergeron and Marleau were stifling as well.
  5. The problem with players like Kessel and Kane is that if you don't have the puck and are facing a superior possession team, you may as well be shorthanded, and it looked that way for a great deal of this game.
  6. Yes. Price deserves big kudos. Those bs US powerplays were by far their best opportunities, and Price slammed the door on their most dangerous chance (deflection that he was all over). The Canadian forwards deserve to be recognized as well - 12 of the top 20 NHL scorers are Canadians (4 of them couldn't even make this club) but perhaps more importantly, team Canada has some world class two way forwards like Bergeron, Toews and Marleau.
  7. Yeah, they have a better possession game than the US, and imo Kronwall, Karlsson, Edler, Hjarlmarsson, Ericsson, OEL are better than the American's back end. Lundqvist aint bad either.
  8. Hate to rub it in, but you forgot to say "shutout".
  9. The difference - aside from Canada's superior defensive game - imo was the save Price made on the deflection on the US powerplay. Benn buried his.
  10. The 'vaunted' US offense couldn't mustard a thing. Too many hotdogs, not enough condiments.
  11. Carter was lucky not to leave that puck behind his own blueline.
  12. Jesus Getzlaf, cut the giveaways in your own zone.
  13. That was an impressive breakout by the US.
  14. I like how Price jumps out of his crease to the side when he's not sure about locking up the puck.
  15. I think what he's trying to say is the US can't ketchup.
  16. The better team is dictating the nature of this game.
  17. Kesler is forbidden to block any Weber bombs
