  1. Dubas must have a solid core to stand up straight like that with such a massive monkey on his back.
  2. Petry has had a lot more than a good start to this season, though - he has 48 goals and 170 pts in the past four seasons - generally pretty high end production from a two way defenseman. Price was .918 two years ago and a Vezina candidate (as well as All star) - and .917 career (one metric - on some good teams/seasons, some average teams, some bad) One season at .909 before this year - a covid and injury season... Weber - I rarely rely on any generalized representations of what any fan base or message boards is supposed to say/believe. 15 goals and 36 pts in 65 games last year...excellent all-around, all-minutes outcomes for him. I think it takes small and injury samples to make a 'struggling' / '2nd' pairing D out of him. I guess 'high end' is subjective enough that there's no point in debating it.
  3. ground and pound, Montreal. this is the first round - of three to come. work them over!
  4. hard to compete with the guys from the age of 'dynasties'.... but Price is my favorite of them all.
  5. hard to take that part seriously if you believe in building from the net out... Price Weber Petry.... right from the get-go - that's some pretty high end talent imo.
  6. only the Leafs could get spanked in the first round so repeatedly.... and still come with that cocky, smarmy, swaggy thing of theirs.
  7. Suzuki with too much stick waving 'defending'. Young center needs to dig in and engage.
  8. The Leafs are fortunate that Montreal didn't amp it up for the past three games - wilting under the pressure, of the forecheck - is not a good look - not promising if they're believing they're a contender. this would be the stage of the series where the grind may start to set in, take effect, and wear on them - I'm not sure they can count on another series where the opponent lets the tempo slip. Montreal needs to avoid defending this lead. They need to continue to set the tone regardless of the score.
  9. Habs back to the skating and hitting that enables them to dictate these games. They have to stay -consistently -with this gameplan.
  10. probably be a good fit in Columbus in the sense they arguably need a top six center. what they'd be willing to send back - I don't know - but I doubt Calgary would want futures as principals....and they can't have Jenner lol.
  11. semantics. not so funny, really. trading one of your 'core' players can also fit the 'retool' word thing - and might not even qualify as a 'retool'. and until the return is known - the type of asset they actually seek - certainly the assumption is extremely premature. it's one rumour - certainly doesn't follow that other signings are thereby 'stupid'.
  12. no pressure "Rathbone" - but you may be the key to our future. why the future? he's already 21. he's in his prime. the time is now.
  13. I don't know I think / he is.... what? we all know what? hmmm.
  14. not sure you read the post as intended. In no way do I suggest he doesn't have a good point
  15. who knows if he was frustrated - and if so, how much so - and how much of it may have been justified - or not... he 'presented' at times as though he resented the limits of his authority - it certainly leaked into some of the draft floor video where body language is pretty easy to pick up on. was that legitimate - was he that consistently the most informed / or best informed voice among the amateur scouting team? having to be part of a process where there were a fair number of 'stakeholders' who had a say in the end - can be challenging as well if a person has a considerable ego, or belief that they haven't received the recognition they feel they've earned. he was also in a market that certainly appears to enable that kind of ego / rift - constantly a pet project of the smarmy crowd bent on storying that Brackett was held back, of course, by the Dim one. Who knows really - of course under the surface, it's far more complicated than any short narrative - positives, negatives, agreements, divergences, etc - but from the outside it looked fairly unsustainable. He probably did a pretty good job here....and then moved on. It happens. Not all situations have long term shelf-lives.
  16. no interest in Monahan - and equally nil interest in Gaudreau. it'll be interesting to see what kind of market there is for players like these - pre-expansion draft - with I'd imagine a fair amount of 'availabilities'. not sure it's the best time to be a seller - additionally coming off a bad season....but maybe there'll be some hockey trades out there.
  17. Kuznetsov 29 pts in 41 games, 21 pts at even strength. 72.5% ozone starts 51.2% corsi 493 faceoffs = 41.4% Unflattering outcomes, to say the least - however on the other hand he has very high on ice shooting % - can assume that he counterbalances some weaknesses with high quality scoring chances/conversion.. Regardless - there's nothing resembling a complete enough player - that I'd be spending anywhere near the kind of assets some people are talking about - to acquire a guy like him - that far into his prime. Makes next to zero sense for us. Let the Calgarys send a Gaudreau or Monahan that way.......while we stay the course and hard pass on distractions like this.
