  1. Find this new Toronto tough guy thing a bit unhinged / inconsistent. Simmonds / Edler pseudo "code" thing - was lame. I mean, this is a team for whom Matt Martin jumped Stecher (a lightweight), and then the league pre-emptively ballbusted Gudbranson warning that there will not be any old school 'justice' tolerated. Simmonds doesn't serve an instigator, although what was taking place was patently obvious. And here, Foligno clearly demands 'justice' - in what looked like an inadvertant collision - entirely impossible to assume intent -and the league's officiating has no problem with that - no instigator. Curious standard.
  2. If I were betting, I think they're the best team in the north when they're healthy. however - this season - they lost Gallagher, Weber, Price, Danault, Chiarot... A bizarre year all around, really - the Habs wind up eliminating the Canucks on the second last night of the season... But I think they're really dangerous with a healthy lineup - more difficult to handle with those key players back .
  3. I think Montreal is going to outskate the Leafs in this series. I think a healthy Habs blueline is the better playoff blueline - particularly their top 4 - Weber, Petry, Edmundson, Chiarot...I like Campbell, but I think he's in tough against Price. Leafs added some toughness at forward, but I think the Habs forward group will outskate them, limiting the Leafs bread and butter puck movement in this series. Leafs will need some game management to win this series.
  4. Juolevi - metered amounts of exposure - only 23 games - but serious composure - looking like the player we hoped he'd become when they drafted him (as a long game prospect). Still only 22 - but looking like a long-term top 4 fixture imo.
  5. Was fun watching Rathbone, Highmore, Juolevi (could stood more of OJ) Lind, Lockwood, Gadjovich, Graovac, Chatfield, etc get an audition.... Lots of promise there for complementary players in the near future. A few replacement guys that I'd probably not give another look - but appreciate their hard work / effort through a sh!tstorm post outbreak end to this season. Simply can't expect results with a half lineup of replacement players (which doesn't stop the smaries, of course lol). Anyhow - the team is going to rock next year. See you all in the opening night GDT when we resume the dysfunction!!!
  6. I think the sport was more enjoyable in the pre-social-media days. Which is not to say that these boards are a complete waste of time, but unfortunately they tend to lead to a bunch of dysfunctional noise. My take on a rething is different for sure - my points were that you do not need lottery picks/champions to build a contender (something Canucks fans should probably accept unless they're young enough to believe we will ever win a lottery...) - more ways than one to build a champion - and it's not losing that ruins prospects, it's failing to develop #properly that ruins prospects, ruining them in a losing 'culture' that does not play the game the 'right' way. I think that's something Deadmonton may finally have solved in bringing Tippett in, but it was certainly not a short-term task - not surprised it didn't change overnight (and they're still ludicrously dependent upon two players....) Fortunately for them, I think this is as good a season as there will ever be to try to ride a superstar through poor, inconsistent, exhausted fairly low quality hockey in general (but that's beside the point). Wasn't a fan of the Miller signing - but I was wrong about that. And further, it was inconsequential - as was Vrbata - as they have been long gone and the team continues to develop it's youth towards their primes - when this team may actually contend if things turn out as we hope. I don't and never saw a short-cut - so I guess my expectations were lower than most, and my patience higher, because for me, there were obstacles from the get go that were predetermined to set the team back in time even further. It was what it was - for me the prime criticism would not fall with the Linden or Benning era... I can relate though. I hated the Keenan era - couldn't wait for that asshat to leave - and unfortunately he brought Messier with him. Nowhere near loathed Tortorella as much - but saw literally no point in bringing him here - and it turned out worse than I expected....At least the present guys are "Canucks" I suppose - but the Linden departure - again - was unfortunate to say the least. I like the youth though - always liked my 'foundation' guys (imo Malhotra is the prototype for this org. so I see why they value these types of players...) - and I want more youth drafted, which is the basis of my patience with the Benning era....so I make 'allowances'. Anyhow - cheers - hopefully next year is more like the previous.
  7. Yeah - Miller has packed it in - no effort for the coach, so unhappy with the GM - refusing to give an effort....
  8. Sedin is not Swedish for speak for us, patronize us, insult our intelligence, or reduce us to / assume we are mere pawns. And btw - no one is afraid of a press conference with Van media halfwits - the only real risk is osmosis.
  9. remember the Skinner and Zucker trade proposals? lol. yikes. not gonna name anyone, but.....that was bent.
