  1. Over under on whether Jeff Paterson will have the integrity to apologize to the Pearson family.
  2. don't forget Costmar. he's practically Jordan Staal already.
  3. I think they've needed a media relations officer since the Burke era. The explosion of twittiocy has only underlined and multiplied that need. Half the amateurs in this market - should not be permitted in the room - they simply are not professionals - and they not only waste the time of the team and it's players, but they suck the energy out of the room with their combination of desperation for attention and smarm. Getting proactive with managing the unnecessary exposure is something they should undertake.
  4. that guy should change his username it's an insult to AV. the guy knows literally nothing that a user with that name should.
  5. he's probably still to blame for some of the Fleas woes that have persisted to the present. what an asshat he was. he shut off the water at the CNE, on the hottest day of the summer, to force attendees to buy soda, etc in the sweltering heat. such a prick.
  6. and foresight is lacking. don't necessarily need cap space to take advantage of the e.d.
  7. Foote is about as prototypical as they come, imo, when I think of an ideal partner for Hughes. He's a two way defenseman, good mobility, good hockey intelligence / reads the play well, has a big shot (which would be served well playing with Hughes), he's a big guy that can handle the hard areas - really an all-around, all-situations young RHD that I think would complement Hughes extremely well (and vice versa) and he's mobile and physical enough imo that he could help, for example, limit Hughes need to retrieve pucks under pressure in his own zone....I'd love to see a pairing like that grow together (although I'm not sure you'd pair them together instantly - perhaps you also bring back Hamonic to placehold/transition as insurance. He's also a 22 year old RFA - who Tampa are unlikely to be able to protect in the e.d. (unless they expose an equally important piece to them, arguably more important in the present - ie Cernak...). It could be a good, rare opportunity to acquire a player like this - who is an excellent fit - and fits our timeline. I'd probably consider dealing our 1st this year for him - and it might take that to get it done.
  8. @Provost once again with the pretense of speaking for all the experts in the hockey world. an absurd categorical that you never tire of peddling.
  9. on the last night of the season? his contract is expiring. that would be an unparalleled dick move. Re-sign Green.
  10. I think they need a future partner for Hughes more than a Reinhart, or a 3C. Possibly losing both Sutter and Beagle also creates a need, but I hope the priority this summer is a future Hughes partner - and it could be an opportune time to address that. If our pick doesn't pan out as we hope, perhaps there's the possibility of tapping into Tampa's 'misfortune' of wealth once again, and poaching Cal Foote with the expansion draft looming....
  11. True - and they've been very hard to beat. I guess I just give Chevy a whole lot of credit for that build - perhaps I underestimate him. I do love the way he gives an interview.
  12. yes, especially if Edler is getting tired of playing. I doubt that - I hope he's back - but you never know - he has logged an insane amount of hard miles in his career. I love that Juice is a regular panel guy now - and part of what he repeats in his takes are things he learned from the Sedins. Bieksa is a bright guy imo - and he still shows the utmost respect for them - and their hockey intelligence. I have no doubt they'd be far more than a p.r. stunt - or 'figure heads' - those kinds of reductions piss me off - they are ignorant, patronizing and belittle a couple of the most innovative, intelligent, hard working guys....Iirc, Bieksa was also the next best conditioned athlete on the Canucks - second to only the Sedins. When I think of the Sedins, about the last thing I think of is 'athleticism'. I mean, of course they're 'athletic' - but they were never particularly fast, don't strike you as the most gifted in terms of physical attributes. But they were brilliant, worked hard, developed and developed their skills, grew stronger and stronger, fitter and fitter and simply maximized what they had to work with. Who could possibly think that they don't have a lot to offer a young group of players? They could probably still beat the entire team up the Grouse Grind.
  13. no thanks I'd fire him if I were Winnipeg - would have some time ago. Not 'hate' - I like him - just don't believe in his coaching - think his team consistently underachieves. Wouldn't hire him here, that's for sure.
  14. Hopefully - I'd love to see them both back - but I'd understand if Clark in particular is interested in a new challenge (his role is more limited/specific). I imagine Green would like to finish what he's started here and continue to work with this group - but you never know. If he's not back, I'd suspect it's a management decision, but I personally don't think management should be looking to replace him - I think he's done an excellent job under the circumstances.
  15. your Leaf is showing. That's not what happened. Understandable - those repetitive first round Fleas exits must form an imprint.
  16. Yes - Benning publicly downplayed credit to himself - and credited Delorme for being early and insistent about Pettersson. Delorme had been very maligned in this market - but Benning retained him, even if not with as much authority as previously. That seemed to have paid off - and I respect that he was forthright about not being the one to deserve credit for that pick - although in the end it's his head that rolls, so he is responsible for the end result.
  17. even if that were true - what it would indicate is a GM that yields his authority when someone makes a concerted case - that allows his team members to make critical decisions, even ones he may not himself have made. the reality is that Benning was probably not in a position to see a whole lot of Pettersson - while Gradin was - and Gradin's position was respected. I'm not sure your claim carries what you appear to hope it does. in the end, they took Pettersson. and Benning had the final say there. period.
  18. yeah - you "saw the light" alright....33 minutes ago lol. let us know how that turns out for you.
  19. EF trolling everyone. Didn't specify what "return" means. Benning is to return....his keys and empty his desk lol. Psyche!
