Love Horvat, will miss him here for sure. A beast at faceoff and playoffs. That being said, he's having a career year, doubt he'll replicate the same stat moving forward. Especially if they continue the downward trend as a team.

I need to change my sheets just thinking about it.
It could very well be like drafting McDavid + Hughes all in one draft. God damn lol. One can dream.

I'd be happy if the islanders just miss the playoffs and we draft 13th (or maybe they give us #10 or 11). It's a deep draft and a pick like 13 is like a #7 next year.
That being said I wouldn't mind betting against the islander next year.
Yup, scouting reports indicate that there are some decent Dman from this year's #13 to around #20. Imagine drafting a franchise forward (BEDARD!) + a good Dman this year...oh my.

So let's do a hypothetical situation. Wildest dream scenario.
Let's say Bo does not help the Isles get above a bottom 12 finish. He then decides to sign elsewhere.
The pick reverts to 2024 and the Isles, now without Bo, will have their unprotected 2024 1st in our hands. We could have a chance to pull a Senators or Colorado situation here if the Isles suck back to back seasons and draft in the top 5 with another team's pick.
That would be a massive W for this team.

Imagine jumping into the #1 spot with Vans pick and NYI jump to #2? Bedard and Fantilli?

JR is an old curmudgeon. No accountability whatsoever. He just doesn’t suit this market.
Kudos to Murph, Farhan for asking pointed questions. Not that we got sufficient answers though.
i just don’t get a good vibe from this group at all. I feel for the players atm.Maybe that's why Bo wanted out. Bo knows.

What a load of BS.
Zero accountability. Not my fault.
Holy hell. Do they not have a PR department for damage control? This is textbook "how NOT to properly defuse the situation".

I agree it wasn't handled exactly right.
Like I said, I think they should have told him he was going to be replaced back in December, even by who, and given the option to stay on until a replacement or leave right then. (and maybe he was) But personally I really think they should have just kept him as a lame duck coach....if that is what he chose to do. The players would have still played for him. It wasn't a classic case of players tuning out the coach. So firing this particular coach mid season in this case was and is totally unnecessary. A dumb move IMO.
But if everyone is honest, including local media,, we all knew this was Bruces last season. And it was also not inconceivable that he'd even be let go during the season if the team was tanking badly. So that means Bruce also knew what was coming and had to be already preparing himself for it. Especially with the way the team was losing. I think its also possible that JR had even told Bruce privately before hand.
It was a long slow painful process. But the team itself is in a slow painful period in its existence too. Nothing will be easy or smooth right now. Could have been handled a little more sensitivity, but it would still be ugly, because the whole team is in an ugly turmoil right now. But Bruce will be fine, and we all hope in the end, this will all work out for the Canucks success going forward.
Juice sorta addressed this last night. It was the idea that all of this went public (too public). Sure, many of us had a feeling that Bruce isn't going stick around, but at least let him finish this season? The hell is the point of changing the coach half way through? So we can experience a coaching bump with 40% of the remaining schedule against opponents that are 23rd or lower in the standings?
Regardless of whether JR spoke with him or not, proper way to transition (imo) was dismiss Bruce and name Yeo as the interm coach. Also, from Bruce's interview with the media (jokingly or not) it sure sounded like they didn't even give him a heads up when everything has already been finalized.

Boudreau does not need to go.
Fanbase can ride this out with Bruce.
Management needs to do some work, manage, and stop deflecting blame.
Tochett. Is a schmuck.
The only reason I even watched tonight was because of Bruce.

Honestly hoping for Bruce to land another coaching job somewhere and win the cup. Will be so happy for him.

He's been super professional through this tough time. Imagine being called out repeatedly and have no control over the crappy roster he was given. Like.

At this point the best thing for this franchise long term is for Petey and Hughes to demand a trade and force themselves off this team.
At that point, there will be no other option but to properly rebuild.
Mind boggling that ownership and management don't understand that Re-Tool word is worse than the worst profanity you can think of for this fanbase.
Also considering the mess we're in right now is because of that word.
