  1. I'm a little late to the party, but I was at the game against Seattle last night, and Virtanen is so much fun to watch!!! I had a great angle on that hit on the massive guy. That was so insanely cool to see in person! The goal he scored was amazing. He made such a great play on the puck, and then gave it a killer snipe past Kozun. I am more in love with Virtanen after seeing him in person! Seeing Sanheim in person too made me wish he had fallen a few spots back to where we got McCann. Granted I do like McCann but Sanheim is very impressive and plays very smart and quality hockey. Definitely the type of d-man we could use.
  2. Its been quite an interesting offseason so far. I dunno if this has really been discussed, but for our pitching staff if we don't make any moves besides Navarro for bullpen help, what about this? Dickey Stroman Buehrle Hutch Norris/Estrada every few weeks to keep Norris at reasonable innings. Even Drabek if he's healthy and able to succeed again. LR: Cecil SU: Estrada CL: Sanchez Sanchez was really good out of the bullpen last season. There's not necessarily an urge to move him into a starter role right now, despite everyone saying he will start. I mean, its more affordable than giving a guy like Miller 30-40 mil for 3-4 years. Sanchez as a closer is also a great way to limit his innings while keeping him in the majors.
  3. I've watched like a lot of movies in the past 8-9 days. So here it goes! Dumb and Dumber To: 8/10 - I went in expecting a total bust of a sequel to a classic comedy, however I was pleasantly surprised. It was very over the top and raunchy, but in a very good way. They took jokes from the original and made them work really well in this one. The storyline was so stupidly hilarious that it totally worked. I found myself laughing so hard a few times I could barely breathe. I absolutely loved this movie. Seven: 9/10 - My friend has been telling me to watch this movie for a few years, and I finally did it. The storyline was unbelieveably amazing. The acting was incredible. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are so fantastic. The ending was so great it had me shaking. I loved every second of this film. You really have to pay attention to detail in this film. I had to rewind a few times. If you miss something small, you miss something bigger than you expect. True Romance: 8.5/10 - A different friend has been telling me for a long time this is his all time favorite movie. I went in figuring its that since its a Tarantino film, the story would be completely warped and over the top at times, and it did not disappoint. Your typical Tarantino film. Definitely an enjoyable one with plenty of fun action. Bonnie and Clyde (Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway version): 9/10 - I had seen this one before about 5 years ago but wanted to watch it again a few days ago. I really love this movie and this version far more than the recent version. The acting is really great in this movie, and of course the story is awesome. I really highly recommend this if you are looking for some good action, and a good older movie. August Rush: 9.75/10 - Let me say, I generally don't go out of my way to watch PG movies, but this is one that over the years I have neglected, and finally decided I had to see it. I am so glad I finally watched it. This movie is just absolutely a work of art. The script in this movie is really a piece of underrated brilliance. The story is great, and this movie is wonderful and heartfelt from start to finish. The music for this movie is among the best I've heard in my life. I know I have only seen it once, but I would already be compelled to put this in my all time top 25 favorites list. I plan on watching it again soon. Horrible Bosses: 4/10 - With the sequel coming soon, I figured I would give this a look. I love comedies, and I love Sudekis and Bateman, so I figured it was worth a shot. Wrong.... The humor in this movie is just so average. There were some really funny parts, but overall it was just another bad comedy unfortunately. The Change-Up: 5/10 - Again, I am a big fan of Bateman, and even bigger fan of Ryan Reynolds. Without Ryan Reynolds, this movie is probably a 2 or 2.5 at best. Ryan Reynolds is among the funniest actors on this planet. The story was cheesy and stupid. The comedy was relatively lackluster. Ryan Reynolds made this worthwhile, and Bateman has some good moments too. As I Lay Dying: 1/10 - This is among the worst movies I have ever seen. I should have looked at reviews before wasting my time. I am a fan of James Franco, and I had never heard of this film until a few days ago, and figured if Franco was in it, it could be good. Nope! The story was really confusing and bad. The acting was generally annoying. Just a really bad all around movie. Don't waste your time.
  4. I'm playing catch up here since I have posted in this thread for a while. 1. The Lind trade was awful. Estrada wont even make our rotation as the number 5 guy, and if he does, we are screwed. Lind isn't amazing by any means, but he is still a quality hitter, and finally showed again what he does when healthy. Awful trade. 2. Gose trade was tough because I really like Gose, and outside of Gose and Rasmus (who wil leave in FA) we have no proven center fielders really. However, if Travis can be as good as we think he can, our infield has some sick potential long term. I think Travis will be good, and I think this was a smart trade to bolster our weakest spot. I think Dalton Pompey can step up and be a good CF for us as soon as next season, so if I'm right, this makes the trade even better. 3. It sounds like Melky wont be back, barring something unforseen. This is disappointing. He's been so good for us since we brought him in. 4. I've heard our names a lot in regards to Pablo Sandoval. I know we could use a 3rd base upgrade because Lawrie just hasn't gotten it yet, but this would be a bad long term investment, so I'm praying someone else gets him. 5. Rumor has it Carlos Gonzalez is on the trade block. Now for me, if we lose Melky as expected, this is something AA needs to absolutely look into. He has a few more years, makes a very reasonable salary, and is coming off a bad season, which should lower his value a bit. I think we would absolutely get him for a reasonable price, and if he can get back to the player he was before the injuries, he is a good one.
  5. Sanchez, Norris, Stroman is going to be an incredible 1,2,3 punch in a couple years when they are all full time starters. We better not be stupid and trade any of them for a useless aging piece that wont help us. The 3 of them with Hutch and another good young pitcher or a solid veteran such as Happ will be really nice down the road. Hutch definitely has some things to work on, but I personally think he is a good long term investment for us. He has had some really good starts this year. The way Sanchez has pitched in relief this year I almost thing he should be a long term closer, but he will definitely have value as a starter. But man, he is good late in games.
  6. I Am Not Sam Forrest Gump Dies 12 Years A Sex Slave The Lion Hunter King Mexican American Pie 40 Year Old Homosexual Virgin I just ruined a lot of great movies.
  7. I felt like the first like 65% of the movie was so average, but the final 35% of it was amazingly hysterical which made up for it. 7/10 is right on the money. If the whole movie was like the last 20-25 minutes, it would be maybe the best comedy of all time. Sadly, not quite.
  8. I really genuinely hope we trade Bautista and Edwin this offseason and start from scratch basically. Try to trade Dickey too. This team has some good young players, but its not going anywhere, and obviously we wont spend money to put a playoff team out there. Watching Jays baseball the past 20 years has been such a waste. We have let talents like Halladay, Baustista, Edwin, and so many others go to waste. It's just depressing. At least the Canucks make a real effort to put a winning team on the ice yearly. Even after picking 6th, the Canucks go out and get some quality free agents in Miller and Vrbata to try to put a playoff team out there, while retooling. The Blue Jays just let it waste away yearly.
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMwI1DlZpyY One of the best songs ever written! Technology fail. I don't know how to link like everyone else so you can see what it is before clicking the link.
  10. My friend texted me a few days ago while I was at a casino asking me what I was up to, and I lied and said I was at a museum, because my friend thinks I have a gambling problem. I made $200 that day. Don't really see what the "problem" is.
  11. The only good thing about that game was the section I was sitting in was full of entertaining drunk people. This team is just awful...
  12. Dickey better bring his A game tomorrow. Has potential to be a great pitching duel.
  13. I just recently moved to the Seattle area and I almost bought a ticket for this game then decided not to. Glad I didn't... What a freaking massacre. I'm going to Wednesday's game. Hoping the rest of the series goes better.
  14. Say Anything: 6/10 I'm a dude stuck in chick flick mode right now. Don't hate. As far as the movie goes, I really hate John Cusack, therefore every movie he makes is a minus 1 off the bat. I just don't think his character was believable in this film. That acting was pretty average all around, and the story was above average at best. I was pretty disappointed since this movie is on pretty much any top 25 or top 50 romance movie list ever made. Meh.
  15. Listen To Your Heart: 9.5/10 No one is allowed to judge me for liking chick flick type movies. I just watched this yesterday, and this is one of the most beautiful pieces of work I have ever seen. For a basically low budget indie film, that as far as I knew never made it to theaters, but is on Netflix at least, this movie is amazing. The story is incredible showing us the ups and downs of life and love, the acting is phenomenal, the music is inspiring. All around incredible movie. I'm a dude, and there are few movies that have made me cry in my life. This movie did it though. I really connected with this film and would recommend it to anyone, guy or girl.
  16. Shadow Of A Doubt is such a good Hitchcock film!!!! Easily in the top 10, maybe top 5. Tough to put it over some others... Psycho Rear Window Rope North By Northwest Strangers On A Train Shadow Of A Doubt Vertigo The Wrong Man The Birds Lifeboat The 39 Steps Notorious Rebecca My top 10 just became a top 13. If I thought about it more, a few of the orders might change, and I feel like I am missing a really good movie, but I cant think of it. God Hitchcock is the best!
  17. I cannot believe how many people are saying we should do this if it is in fact Tanev and Shinkaruk with the pick. Look, I want Reinhart as much as anyone here, but trading three young future assets for Reinhart is not a good idea. Tanev is a top 4 caliber minute eating, realiable player. Shinkaruk has a world of potential to be an exciting player. And whoever we draft at 6 can end up pretty good too. Not to mention Corrado may not be ready if Tanev is moved, and Shinkaruk is one of few wing prospects we even have. This is a bad trade. To me, we need to send the 6th plus Gaunce, and a decent back end roster player like Richardson, or rights to Santo. With Reinhart, Horvat, and Cassels, we could live without Gaunce, although it would sting, and Florida still gets a very good package for moving back 5 spots. Again, if it were up to me, I would not trade up because this is the time where we need more assets, but a trade like that seems to sting a lot less.
  18. I think Reinhart will be a great player, but I don't think the potential of Reinhart is greater than the potential of Shinkaruk plus our 6th pick. We need to build a strong base of prospects and with such weak wingers in our system this doesn't make sense to me. I'd be more inclined to trade for the 1st pick if it was going to be someone like Gaunce with a solid roster player like Higgins and the 6th pick. We still have Horvat and Cassels among other center prospects. We add another center in Reinhart. And we don't give up any young wingers. Again, I still think it would be tough to lose any prospects right now, but I think that would be a fair deal, and not hurt us all that bad.

  20. Maybe something like this: Pre-draft: To Anaheim: Kesler 3rd rounder To Van: Theodore 10th 24th At draft: Florida takes Ekblad at 1 To Buffalo: 10th pick we just acquired Gaunce Cederholm To Vancouver: 2nd overall Picks: 2nd: Reinhart 6th: Virtanen 24th: Sanheim/Honka We lose Kesler, Gaunce, and Cederholm. We immediately replace Gaunce and Cederholm with better prospects though, and we get great value for Kesler. Thoughts?
  21. I really want to see him develop, but it just seems to not be happening. I would re-sign him under a mil, then let him compete for a job next year.
  22. Draisaitl. Must. Fall. To. 6.
  23. Torts comes in, Canucks worst season in years.. How has he earned another year? His style of Hockey sucks, he's an embarrassment, especially after that locker room thing with Calgary. I was never even ok with the hire, and now it looks even worse after 1 year. Get rid of him.
