  1. Ryan O'Reilly if he's willing to do a league Minimum (or near league min) for one or two years like Corey Perry
  2. I think the long break between the Conference Finals and Finals really hurt Florida more than Vegas. Granted Vegas played more games but it was still a long break for both teams. The difference is Florida was steamrolling the Eastern Conference because they got hot at the right time. An 8th seeded team getting hot than having a long pause no doubt cooled the team down. And this is the difference between a team like Florida that got hot at the right time and an elite team like Vegas, when both teams are cooled down. It's the elite veteran team that can pick it up where they left off faster. If the Finals happened a couple of days after Vegas advanced the results would have been more even.
  3. I think Jack Hughes is a more accurate comparable to Pettersson. Still it's going to be brutal Hughes making 8 million a year and Pettersson over 10 million
  4. Hey those garbage you mentioned ... they may not have Skill ... but they have North American heart? Or meat and potatoes Or Intangibles
  5. I wasn't born when this took place but I suppose people here can debate on this Summary Parity between teams. No chance Vanucover was losing Canucks were mediocre during the regular season and only beat teams that had a losing record Canucks best game was game 1 but the series was lopsided
  6. On a financial side yes it remains the same. But on a cap perspective it might help teams, not just the Canucks, and provide team that option
  7. Yeah but it's would not be mandatory. It would just be there for team to take advantage of if they wanted. Like if a team is struggling to resign their star players due to the flat cap
  8. Well not Vancouver but LA Kings, Dallas, and Rangers all had successful retools. If management believes this core is worth retooling, then they have to do it right like the teams I just mentioned
  9. Seriously though why couldn't the NHL and Players association agree to a compliance buy out like the 2013 lockout when the cap went down? A lot of signings prior to 2020 were done on the assumption the cap would go significantly up with the TV deals
  10. Um 3 of those teams were top 5 in the league standings. In fact, Vegas is ranked lower than the teams Florida faced in the Eastern Conference
  11. NJD payed a huge penalty I feel. Since they dropped to the last of the 1st round
  12. Without knowing the full details on how the CBA works with this. I think the fining is justified if certain rules are broken. I take this the same as normal working conditions. If you have a work contract there are still union and labor laws set in place that says you cannot and are not supposed to work on, let's say, weekends and holidays. And if this is violated (even if the employee is willing ), the employer still has to be fined and reprimanded. It's quite shocking that management didn't realize since it's quite a poor oversight on their part.
  13. It got me thinking. If Pettersson accepts a contract AAV $8.5 Million for 8 years and everyone living in the Greater Vancouver Area donates $12 USD in a go-fund me page to give to Pettersson. There are about 2.5 Million people living in this area. ( 2,500,000 x 12 ) / 8 = $3,750,000 Would Pettersson take this offer then knowing he makes $8.5 + $3.75 (total $12,250,000 / year ) Million per year ?
  14. Makes sense I think. Even if the preference is to stay long term in Vancouver and that is the plan, there is still going to be a lot of negations going on to make it work. Pretty sure Horvat would have stayed and planned to stay in Vancouver long term if the organization gave him the term and money he wanted.
  15. Why stop there? To Vancouver: 2023 1OA Mikael Granlund Sidney Crosby Jake Guentzel Bryan Rust Marcus Pettersson To Chicago: 2023 11OA 2023 14OA 2024 1st round pick (Vancouver) 2025 1st round pick (Vancouver) Anthony Beauvillier Aatu Raty Nils Hoglander Samuel Poulin Connor Garland To Pittsburgh: JT Miller Oliver Eckman Larsson Tyler Myers Brock Boeser 5th Round Pick 6th Round Pick 7th Round Pick
  16. The one thing I do have to say though that might boost the D, albiet so slightly, is that Tyler Myers is entering his contract year. This is his last chance to get a decent pay day so he might step it up. Not saying he's going to be elite or anything but I assume he's going to be better than the last 2 seasons to secure his last NHL paycheck
