Philippines president said 'we will declare war'...
iinatcc replied to Just1CupB4IDie's topic in Off-Topic General
The accusations of Rappler are hilarious it's almost like the Duterte administration was trying to find something to accuse Rappler of until it stuck and same goes for threatening Inquirer and other media outlets in the country. As for political opponents you have Delima and also Trillianes. Now I am not saying all of these accusations are flat out lies I do believe when there's smoke their is fire. But don't you find it a little convenient that the only accusations being made are politicians and media outlets that are critical of the president? I am pretty sure most Filipino politicians or media conglomerates all have some form of dirty laundry but of course it seems that it's only the one's who are critical of the president that get tagged. I mean people who believe that are either stupid or chose to be ignorant. This reminds me of The Simpsons episode when Mayor Quimby and Laramie Cigarettes were trying to find any possible reason to disqualify Lisa from being Miss Little Springfield because she was outspoken so they found the most bogus reason to disqualify her. As for the bullying no there aren't more trolls in the other side. Yes there are trolls in both sides but when one side threatens people because of disagreeing with the president then you have a problem. I've seen memes saying that people who don't support the drug war should be in the front line shielding so they can be killed first so the cops can do their jobs, I have seen people saying that the senators who didn't vote to extend martial law in Mindanao should be drafted so they can killed fighting the terrorists down south. Please tell me if that normal. And of course the worst of all, that half of the country support illegal killings done by law enforcement. Pulse Asia did that poll. 80% support the war on drugs and 70% believe that extra judicial killings are being conducted. If you do the math that's HALF of the population supporting and condoning illegal actions by the police and the government. I am sorry but that's messed up and how can any nation look at themselves in the mirror saying that is ok? Can you tell your kids and future generations 20 years from now with pride that we were a nation that accepted our government murdering our own people? Whether if they were innocent or not? -

I am Filipino and lived in The Philippines (until a few years ago) and I can say I am not part of that 80 %to 85%. Problem with Duterte is that he's setting a precedent in the country where ethics is being compromised. He's not a dictator yet but does exhibit some traits of a dictator. He's already attacked the news media, arrested his political opponents, and has succeeded in making half the population support illegal killings by law enforcement. What's worse is that his character is permeating to the population especially with his supporters. His aggressive and angry tone is basically how his supporters are behaving in social media sending death threats and bullying people online. I am not saying Canada is absolved of any wrong doing but as a Filipino, I am ashamed of being one right now because of Duterte and the culture he is creating. -
I know people here are happy to see the Leafs fail but I'd rather would have seen the Bruins get eliminated in the 1st round. Where as I don't think Toronto can get past the Eastern Conference even if they beat Boston (either getting eliminated by The Blue Jackets or the Metropolitan Division winner), I do think Boston has the experience to go all the way to win the cup. Something I don't ever want to see even when the time comes when everyone from that 2011 roster is no longer part of the Bruins team.

Generally speaking he could still leave the organization. I kind of have a feeling going from GM to a president position is seen as a ceremonial promotion but a downgrade in the eyes of most GMs. I kind of have a feeling that was the reason Lou Lamoriello left NJ

The rebuild is far from done. I was listening to Botchford and he did make some points how The Canucks need to execute the off season perfectly and he does have a point. He highlighted that the team around Horvat, Boeser, Hughes, and Petterson are just not good enough and there are too many similar bottom 6 grinders in the team.

Sorry but I'm under the impression that it takes goals to win games. You can talk about "intangibles" but goals are th most important part or winning games -
