  1. From what I heard in Sportsnet. Other teams don't really consider Miller as a center. You are right he can play center but i am guessing other teams value him as a winger
  2. Honestly this is why I was rooting for Colorado to not win the cup. You could imagine how the Avs and Sakic would have been desperate for Miller provided Kadri walked.
  3. people are laughing at Calgary right now here. But this also further hurts the trade value Miller has as well. If I were a team looking for a winger I would rather go for Tkachuk over Miller considering the age + he's an RFA after the contract expires.
  4. Wonder why the Habs didn't trade for PLD instead of Dach? I know the Jets would have asked more but PLD is a huge upgrade from Dach IMO. Though maybe Habs did try but the Jets was asking for too much.
  5. Good face off guy and good in the room in the bottom paring role isn't 3 million x 4 years. No one is denying Beagle brings something to the table but not at that price. I remember the folks in Sportsnet 650 saying. Benning was so fixated on Beagle that he should have focused on getting a player wirh similar traits from Beagle but at a more team friendly rate.
  6. And the team that just won the cup and still had a window is the one that decided not to overpay for Beagle.
  7. But you still don't pay that contract for a 4th line person who can kill penalties. The fact that Beagle was replaced by the Caps making either league minimum or near league minimum shows how much the previous management overpaid for someone for this role. So your points highlight two things 1. Management overpaid for a 4th line PK specialist. A needed role but not you pay the amount the team paid for Beagle. 2. Management didn't have the ability replace this person with a team friendly contract after he was traded. Overall it shows former management's inability to properly assess the value of a certain player based on the role they provide with the team.
  8. Remember when Canucks used to sign a player wirh those numbers for 3 million for 4 years
  9. Hmmm I don't mean to sound mean spirited but if you want to be a pro-Athlete who wants to make big money but can handle the pressure or the media or your market. Then maybe this person shouldn't be a pro-Athlete despite the talent they have. I get people are people and have their own needs and wants but media and market pressure comes with the job. Especially if you are a star player like Gaudreau. Other pro-Athletes have to go through and endure this as well and it never seems to bother them or at least not as much as NHL stars.
  10. Any GM that can make those moves as you said should win GM of the Decade. I doubt anyone is going acquire either Pearson or Myers for a 2nd round pick. 3rd and 4th possible but 2nd isn't happening. Kadri is probably maxing out his value in his next contract. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets something crazy like 7 years x 9.5 Million. He was at one point last season was on pace to have McDavid like points.
  11. Yeah any discussion that involves Canucks asking for Dobson for Miller isn't going anywhere. This is like if Calgary offered Gaudreau last season to Vancouver for Quinn Hughes.
  12. Deep perhaps but sustainable? Probably not after this season. I am not sure how the line up will be but if Pearson and Dickinson are 4th line players making around the 3 million range that isn't really a good thing. The ideal scenario is that the team's depth is built on the ability to fill holes in ELC's or players with cheap contracts( Like Corey Perry's$ 1 million AAV contract with the lightning or Duclair's contract with the Panthers).
  13. I think more neutral than anything. What the Canucks did this off-season actually stands out from most teams Plus as mentioned by many the team didn't exactly get rid of any cap space while adding a players that eats up a chunk of it
  14. There could be a compromise. I remember there was a Japanese Baseball team if people in attendance weren't satisfied with the game they get a refund. It was like some decades ago I think
  15. I am surprised to wasn't Driedger supposed to be really good? Especially what he did with the Panthers?
  16. Well put it this way ... is anyone scared of the Oilers?
  17. Well I guess it's an improvement from paying 3 Million and 4+ million for bottom 6 forwards so progress
  18. If Flames can sign Tkachuk long term this is probably best for Calgary. Not saying losing Gaudreau for nothing doesn't hurt but I was never sold on him being part of a core of a winning team. I always said if McDavid and Draisaitl were part of the Flames ( and the Flames do have a good collection of players), the Flames would be a scary team.
  19. Yeah between Gaudreau and Palat, I think this is a pretty good move by the Devils.
  20. I am starting to think Jim Benning is secretly working with the Blue Jackets
