  1. So basically my takeaway is it's his wife (not Gaudete) and "word from the street" type stuff. ok Yes I am still scratching my head why isn't this a bigger story ? Seems like at the time all the info came from were speculative sources.
  2. I think him getting covid first is known to everyone the question is if he broke protocol and there's not enough concrete sources to support this
  3. I guess the test would be If a another team put in Myers with that term and contract to the Canucks as part of the package. Would our response be "OMG Myers how can we refuse, he's a stud" ? Probably not at best people will say "meh"
  4. That's how trades work. The Myers of the world isn't is what is going to add value it's prospects that shows promise like Rathbone or Hoglander.
  5. Was there any even concrete proof of this? I don't think there is.
  6. Then it means Benning would upgrade to this year's 1st
  7. Benning would have given up Podkolzin + 2023 2nd round pick for him I think this is the same problem Vancouver will face with OEL in 3 years time
  8. That's why I didn't say 4 steps back That said the team still missed the playoffs and who really knows what is in store next few seasons. Will Miller get traded? What will the team do with Boeser's qualifying offer? what about Horvat's extension next season? All question will play in the next few seasons but all signs point to either the current roster getting paid more than before (eating away to the cap more) or having to trade some players away that could lead to a less effective team. In fact the one thing Avs and Canucks have in common is that both have to address their cap issues this offseason. However Avs have an excuse because the team a cup contender and the Canucks are, at best, a bubble team. If many here don't think the Avs and Canucks situation isn't comparable, then you also need to ask yourself how did Canucks get into cap issues at this point?
  9. I just saw this article now from Matt Sekeres himself, I think this pretty much supports my view on this https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-avalanche-directions-nhl-doormats Like I said I wasn't expecting The Canucks to be Contenders but at least a steady upward trajectory would have been nice. Instead of the team took one step forward from the 2020 season and 3 steps back since then.
  10. True but this basically from one end of the spectrum to another and let's not forget the Avs were a worse team than Vancouver not too long ago. If the Canucks started to become a consistent playoff team the last 2 or 3 then I would have been satisficed. Instead the last two seasons Canucks missed the playoffs and probably would have missed it again in 2020 if not for the Pandemic. The lesson not to squander and waste any years that could have been used to improve the team. Plus you don't need prospects to pull off genius deals like the Barrie for Kadri and the Duchene deal, you just need so to have some good negotiating and deal making acumen.
  11. So basically Sakic was the GM of the Avs around the same time Benning was GM for the Canucks. Since then Sakic built a cup winning team and Benning has had 2 playoff appearances in 8 years (one being a bubble year). I think this magnifies the wasted season Canucks has the last 8 years.
  12. he's still young enough to prove himself and this season shows he has promise. I love how we like to trash a player 5 years and cracked the NHL roster with good numbers in his full season . Yet somehow when the Canucks prospects haven't made it to the NHL at this point he's not a bust yet, he just needs time to develop
  13. Thus we probably reduced the overall trade value with that package. So Caps probably say no to this.
  14. Don't know if this is serious but a team with cap problems isn't going to want to retain Pacioretty's salary while getting Pearson (which isn't also that great of a contract) and a 4th in return.
  15. Nischuskin who was on pace for 35 goals this season and has been a huge factor in the playoffs is not going to sign for 4 years 4.75 And neither is Miller to
  16. He has comparable to Mark Scheifele by scouting reports. It's no a surprised that folks were shocked when Benning passed on him.
  17. Well if more means signing a player the caliber of Viktor Hedman or Alex Pietrangelo then sure. But OEL isn't on their level
  18. Because it's not a good contract and everyone would be saying the same thing if OEL was a Leaf or Oiler.
  19. Haha probably if he signed somewhere else he'd just be another "lazy Russian"
