[PGT] Dallas Stars at Vancouver Canucks | Apr. 18, 2022
iinatcc replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Proud of this team with their recent run but I can help but feel it will just end up bitter sweet at the end -
Pretty much sums up what happened. Basically Benning drafted a good core w/o any support. Think of the Oilers when they drafted all those 1st rounders but no support around the team. Though I think Allvin and Rutherford need to realize the only way forward is to identify the players they can build the team around to become a contender and move on from the rest. Obviously due to their age that would likely be Demko, Hughes, Pettersson, and maybe Podz. Miller is turning 30 soon and Horvat is not that far off. On Horvat I can't really see him being a Canuck much longer. 8 years of losing, I kind of feel for him and if I were in his shoes, move on from the Canucks and start winning. If he does want to stay here, then I am for that too as long as the extension is team friendly. That I don't mind moving on from Horvat if it means getting something good in return and allowing him to be a team that can win now. Happy to watch this kid grow and develop as one of the leaders in the team but management and Benning just failed him. I don't want to hear 10 years from now Horvat regretting he never was part of a winning team or had a deep run in the playoffs.

[Discussion] No Boudreau? Potential Head Coaches 2022/2023
iinatcc replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
What about Dave Tippet. Isn't he known to be a systems coach and the Canucks need a system or identity. There's also Dan Bylsma who has a winning record as a head coach in the NHL plus has had post season success. I wouldn't giving Bylsma a shot with that track record -
Feels all too familiar indeed. We talk about teams should keep winning because of pride but, honestly, where was this pride in the first 25 games? Or more recently the previous homestead? I'm not against the rebuild approach. Benning put the core in a vicous cycle that it would be difficult for any succeeding management group can break out of.

That and the every audience chanting for him to get fired

In this forums a lot of us are criticizing Brock Boeser (and how he should) yet somehow in these proposals we expect to get Kirby Dach and a 2nd round pick in return. Either we are bashing Canucks players or over valuing them relative to how we feel about them or what their actual value is. This benefits only the Canucks and hurts Chicago and Vegas probably will get a deal for Dadonov for the other 20 teams non in his non-trade list.

If Canucks do manage to make it in (like less than 5% I think) .. they likely could face the Avs. I mean no disrespect to the Canucks but they'll get manhandled by Colorado -
Haha ... true. But I guess in the Price is Right rule Ferraro wins. I do miss Ferraro talking about the Canucks. He did a lot of that before 1040 became "funny" . A lot of people here like to trash on the media because they use "rumors" or "backstage news" to influence their opinion. What I do notice about Ferraro is he only comments on what he sees on the ice. Even if he was also wrong about the Hansen/Virtanen comparison, you could see where he was coming from there.
-
What's wrong with Puljujarvi? The last thing Canucks fans need is being upset that a young prospect is being compared to only a good player. Remember how we all went ballistic and lost our minds when Ray Ferraro compared Virtanen to Jannik Hansen? We were all so pissed at Ferraro at the time and we're ready to bring out the torches and pitchforks ... but I think we can all agree that we would have been happy now if Virtanen did end up being like Hansen for the Canucks

I feel like we've been saying that all season but the teams Canucks are chasing seem to just keep winning. Heck the fact Tampa got shut out to Dallas feel like the work of the hockey gods. It makes matters worse this season if the playoff bound teams these teams will face start "taking it easy" from here on out. Giving these teams a better chance Kings face the Avs in their next. I wouldn't be surprised if Avs play at 70% -

The real victim here is ESPN ... pretty sure they are not happy broadcasting a game with only 1 goal -

Looking at the standings it is starting to look like both conferences will have the wild card teams reaching 100 pts. Canucks can only get 98 at this point if they manage to win all games. -

Vegas gets a point LA Wins Dallas Wins Vancouver Wins Everyone is happy -
Well point is I wanted to make is that we need to lower a bit our expectations with Podkolzin. It's his first year he's done pretty well as a rookie (though I am dumbfounded that anyways with a straight face would say they'd rather have Podz than Zegras are just in self denial ) but let's take down our expectations a notch. I have my best case scenario with Podz will become (which is absurdly high), but I understand the possibility it won't happen to avoid disappointment. So if ever ends up just a more consistent version of Kassian (to the Oilers) I would be fine with that. Let's not forget Canucks' prospect greatest oops the last few years Tryamkin - Next Chara Hodgson - Future Captain of the Canucks Shinkaruk - Next Patrick Kane Kassian/Virtanen - Next Bertuzzi

Just realized the Avs could easily get 130 pts this season. Is there any doubt this team is the hands on favorite to win the cup? -
Yeah I'm still quite distributed on how people here went along those "Adam Gaudette gave the team covid" rumors. Probably the same people who knock on me when I use the media as my source yet, at the same time, somehow find it convenient to believe that stuff about Gaudette or "McCann is a locker room cancer" speculation
