  1. Didn't Tortarella have some sort feud with someone from the NY media? I think that would be worse
  2. I think it was speaking more on the context of Green's coaching which wasn't at all effective this season before he got fired.
  3. I mean the 2 wins were against the Sens and the Habs not really anything to write home about
  4. Panarin is critical of Putin from what I recall. Considering what is happening right now especially of people protesting against the Russian government couldn't he ask for refuge or political asylum in the United States?
  5. In hindsight yes I would agree. The only thing that gave me pause was that I was worried firing a coach after resigning him would give the organization a bad reputation. But looking at how Rutherford is trying to turn that perception around and that Bruce signed with Canucks instantly, that probably wasn't a big worry.
  6. I still think Canucks won't make it. Call me negative but looking at the remaining teams Canucks will play Tampa, New Jersey, Calgary (x2), Colorado, Minnesota (x2), Dallas, St. Louis, Vegas (x2), Los Angeles, Edmonton Now Jersey and Edmonton aren't exactly scary but Jersey just blew out Vancouver and Edmonton will probably be as desperate as Vancouver to fight for a playoff spot. The rest are very scary or, at least, difficult teams to beat.
  7. if only some of those "moral victories" were actually converted to actual victories
  8. Basically it's Canucks trying to do a cap dump? I don't think Seattle will do this they can trade Giordano at the TDL for some good assets in the future.
  9. Well silverlining here Canucks beat Calgary Calgary is the #1 team in the Pacific Division Therefore Canucks is the best team in the Pacific
  10. FFXII Zodiac Age is on Steam FF7 you can play the original version on PC too, you could also play the Remake but both games are very different. Both are great. The remake is on PS5. The Pixel Remasters are on Steam
  11. LOL! You should try the Pixel remaster for FF5 and FF6 then they are great from what I hear. FF4 I wouldn't recommend on Pixel Remaster they made a relatively easy game much easier. Anyways FFXII: The Zodiac Age is one FF I would recommend. When it first came out people hated it because it didn't feel like a Final Fantasy. Nowadays it's considered one of the best because it doesn't feel like a Final Fantasy game FFXIII ... I would not recommend. FFXV is ok but a massively incomplete game.
  12. But you played FF7 right? The Emerald and Ruby weapons are really hard. You can even die even if you have the Knight of the Round materia. FFX also has some difficult optional bosses at the end, which is a good analogy with my FF7 comparison. If I am not mistaken Shinryu would be the equivalent of what Gillis had to do. While Benning probably just needed to collect the Shiva or Irfit Aeon or get to Zanarkand (if we are being a bit more ambitious of his objectives)
  13. I didn't grow up with Space Invaders hmmmm how about this then: Gillis started with Cloud and co. at LV 40 but was asked to already beat Emerald and Ruby weapon Benning started at Level 5 to be sure, but all he was asked to do is escape Midgar Edit: Most FFVII fans will probably agree Benning's task was more manageable
  14. think it's difficult trading Halak considering his NMC and that his performance the last two games isn't going to have teams going after him. One game like he did against the Ducks or Devils in a 7 game series could spell doom for a team.
  15. you are 100% right and that is the tragedy here. Horvat's legacy as a Canuck captain might be in jeopardy and it's nothing he can do about it. The past GM just didn't know how to build a team and even if the new management realizes things has to change now, it might be too late for Horvat at least his time as a Canuck.
  16. I can live with Miller staying if he resigns a reasonable contract. But to reasonable is like 5 years at 6 million, I can't see that happening especially if Miller's agent points out EP's extension and Er1kssons's contract with Vancouver. Bo Horvat is 26 years old. Not a kid anymore in the NHL world. On one hand I can see him resigning and being a captain and solid 2nd line center that fans will love. Or he resigns and people he ends up the Canucks' Shawn Horcoff.
  17. But here's the thing Benning had 8 years to build a consistently good team. He had 8 years to build the team back up. The best comparisons is the Avs. Sakic became the GM basically became the GM around the time Benning did for Vancouver. Where the Avs are at and where Vancouver is now is like night and day. Even if people argue the rebuild started later for Vancouver because of the Sedins. You have the Kings, the Ducks, the Rangers, and even the Redwings that started their rebuild/retool later have caught up or even surpassed Vancouver at this point. Benning was given a long enough runway to make this team good. He failed do that and that's why he's out.
  18. yeah but that also means Gillis probably had a shorter leash than Benning in making a team a contender. Which he did within a couple of years by making it to the finals. Benning was given longer to make the team into something but he never did. Even if Benning had a worse team handed to him initial objectives handed to him was less ambitious than Gillis'. For 5 or 6 years it was basically "make the playoffs". He did in his first year but never did after that until the bubble and couldn't build on that afterwards. Basically Gillis was given 15 Marios with 6 continues to make it to world 8 once and did so one and passed world 4 a couple of times. While Benning was given 5 Marios with 8 continues to just make it past world 2 and only did so twice while making it to world 4 once.
  19. Gillis made mistakes but since the context of this thread is comparing him with Benning (I think) ... Gillis has this
  20. Halak was probably thinking about what he's going to do that evening Kidding I am sure he didn't expect this to happen but the optics of this is quite bad for him
  21. Yeah basically surpassing Vancouver in this Rebuild/Retool whatever is called.
  22. I wonder if Halak feels bad of his performance considering this is the game where he collects another 1.25 million and adding to the team's cap hit ?
