  1. Yeah but this is Yzermam. I can see him turning the Red Wings around in only 5 years or less, they may even be a contender by then
  2. Totally agree. If Benning can't resign Boeser with a similar deal then it would be considered an overpayment

  4. So I guess this whole trade Saga can either be seen as a wash or a minor loss for Benning. He got a 3rd back but it's a later third since the Jets are probably going to be a bubble/playoff team next season.
  5. How so ? Nick Bjugstad signed $900,000 and had better numbers than Sutter. Let's also not forget also the veterans that Toronto and Montreal signed for cheap that also put up better numbers than Sutter (i.e Joe Thornton)
  6. Yes but I feel like it's going back (and remembering) to something that didn't work.
  7. After taking up so much cap space I would offer him the league minimum and see if takes it
  8. First Brandon Sutter possibly resigning rumors and now this ? Ok the Canucks are doomed
  9. Hmm saying Benning flushing out 3 contracts was a win is like paying to repair your parents car after crashing it while driving drunk as a noble thing to do.
  10. 9.5 million is a good deal isn't it? Especially the cap Tavares or Kane have
  11. Hmm it's $500,000 too high I think. Also not sure if this is a steal considering Anthony Duclair's extension and only a millon less than Taylor Hall?
  12. So will Canucks do a tribute night and video on Dec 19 for Eriksson ?
  13. Yep and it's not a knock on Schmidt either. I am quite similar (and I'm an introvert ), when things go generally right people say I'm the most positive person they ever met. But if things don't go as planned people have also called me as a "complainer" So yeah I'm not calling out Schmdit and it's more of a personality trait that may not be compatible with where the Canucks at, at the moment. And the restrictions last season didn't help either.
  14. Yes those are factors but, at the same, time other players had to go through a similar situation. If I'm not mistaken Jake Allen was also traded from a Cup Contender to a bubble team (much like the Canucks were expected to be) and he thrived under that environment Also at the same time with restrictions loosening next season you would think Schmidt would give it another go with being able to do the things you said.
  15. I am also thinking maybe Schmidt is the kind of player that doesn't really rise to the occasion if the team isn't any good. He's supposed to be a locker room guy based on reports on him on Vegas but I didn't hear any of that while he was a Canuck. And now he wants out (allegedly) Maybe he's just the type of player that can build off by piggy backing on a good team rather than someone that can help do the piggy backing.
  16. Sorry I guess concrete I should also have mentioned major trades. I do think the Kesler trade Benning did was ok because the assets he got in return were quite decent it's just how he handled those assets that did the whole trade in
  17. But the question in who get rejuvenated first ? OEL or Loui Eriksson? Maybe Loui Eriksson is this year's Toffoli and gets to 20 goals and 50 pts scoring 1/3 of it against Vancouver. Thankfully Coyotes are moving to a different Divison then
  18. I think this is why we should only evaluate trades after some time has passed. And when we re evaluate the Schmidt one it might still look bad. In reverse the JT Miller trade didn't look good when we first heard about it but, since then, the trade is considered a win and people who didn't like it then changed their minds (myself included) Speaking of Miller, I believe this is the first concrete trade win Benning had and it only too about 5 years Personally I don't have strong opinions on this trade yet. I do question the motivation of acquiring OEL and future cap implications. That said Garland could also sway how this trade is precieved. I am hearing some Marchand comparisons so there is promise
  19. Schmidt's cap hit + Underperforming Season + Rumors (or reports) he wants out I can't imagine how can this be a win for Benning. Yes it's only cost a third, but if Canucks can't get any milage from Schmidt either in his performance as a Canucks or recouping a 3rd round pick (or equivalent value), it's still an asset lost
  20. I remember how people here were saying Quinn was better than Makar during the 2019/2020 season and the bubble. Now it's time to resign Hughes, apparently Hughes isn't as good as Makar anymore. Funny how that works
  21. You still need a defenseman you can jive with to be the version of yourself (or the best chance for the team to win). Back in 2019 - 2020 that was Tanev. Hughes doesn't need a Jones or Eckblad to play along side him just a responsible good D-man (someone who Benning still has to get). You mention Hamonic, but he's going to test the open market as well.
  22. It was brought up so I gave my opinion. But my question on D are how does this help Hughes ? Doesn't Hughes need a player that plays on his opposite side ? Secondly the cap. 7+ for OEL, 6 for Myers, 5+ for Schmidt (if he stays), and Hughes' extension How does this work long term?
  23. I don't want to sound like a negative nancy but what better to get a good read of a player from a specific team than with from people who report on that market? These are warning signs that should be taken into consideration Here is the interview : https://www.sportsnet.ca/650/vancouver-canucks-radio/craig-morgan-ekman-larsson-left-garland-electric-ice/ And to be fair he had nothing but great things to say about Garland
