  1. I dunno the person from the Coyotes media that was interviewed by Sportsnet said OEL's skating is one of his biggest problems as the game is getting faster
  2. Well Sportsnet interviewed someone from the Coyotes media and the Coyotes organization felt OEL's play had been on a sharp decline and they wanted to get rid of the contract. Seems like some warning signs to me
  3. But his 2 year timeline is when he anticipates when the young core will mature and be at their peak. OEL will likely start to decline by then. So what good will OEL do if he becomes more of a liability when the the core starts to hit their peak ?
  4. 14 pts in 16 games in Boston that's a 70pt player in a 82 game season. Oh he's also a Hart trophy winner. You don't win a Hart if you aren't Elite.
  5. “Our core players, they still need to mature a little bit yet. I think in two years time, I think we're gonna be real competitive and have a chance to compete for the Cup,” he said. “But we have to keep building, keep adding players to our group and our young core players have to continue to grow and get better.” https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/canucks-hockey/canucks-gm-jim-benning-provides-excuses-not-accountability-3519799
  6. Hall is an elite 1st line winger. 6 million for 4 years is great for a player like Hall. This is the kind of free agent signing I wish Benning could actually do
  7. Yeah no one does at this point I don't get this trade. Benning said during the middle of last season the team was 2 years away from competing. Why give up your future to get a player who is probably past his prime and unloading contacts when it would be off loaded after the 2021 / 2022 season anyways. Why do this when your window isn't even this season?
  8. I find it funny how many here we're so high on Lind and now he got picked by Seattle he was no big loss and replaceable It's Gaudette 2.0
  9. Yeah but I would prefered at least to be "kicking tires"
  10. "Poking around"? Seems like a downgrade from "Aggressive"
  11. No to Beagle ... fans don't need to be reminded of his bad contract by seeing an A in his jersey
  12. If Seattle does take Kole Lind and he pans out to be a good NHL player this could be another Bennng blunder. A lot of teams didn't resign their pending UFA's in hopes that Seattle won't claim them. Benning could have waited to resign Pearson after the expansion draft so he could protect one of the younger players.
  13. Yeah plus another angle is they pick neither Holtby or Price and just get a cheaper goalie with potential. Looking at the unprotected D-men available (according to NHL's facebook page) Seattle could build a strong backend that can help support and insulate a less experienced, and thus lower cap hit, goalie
  14. I am looking at the comments in Social media. And, aside from Canucks fans here, many aren't even predicting Holtby as any of their top 3 choices. I do feel part of the prediction is just wishful thinking from us. And of course besides Carey Price, Quick is also available. Or Seattle could just go to the UFA market to get their #1 goalie.
  15. Maybe but it's probably also because there seems to be some notable UFA's that who may have been considered to be protected otherwise
  16. Is this more what you want to happen or what you think will happen? Because I feel like it's more the former. Because if you were a fan from Seattle would you want Holtby, and his performance last season, to be the team's starting goalie? I think it's all wishful thinking that Seattle takes Holtby especially considering the season he had and that Price is exposed. He wasn't good enough to even be a back up. Price's cap might pose the risk but at worst you will get a slightly above average goalie with him in goal. The term isn't an issue either, just look at Patrick Roy and Martin Broeuder and what age they stopped playing
  17. Are you just saying that because we don't want Seattle to discover that the true unsung hero of the Canucks is Loui Eriksson ?
  18. I was listening to Sportsnet and the protection list (or expected protection list at the time of the program) is an indication how little Vancouver has improved since the Vegas expansion draft 4 years ago. Vegas picked Sbisa then and the fact there aren't really any NHL ready players of note available to Seattle does show this.
  19. Good point either way I would at least try to go for Landeskog or Ovi
