  1. We all hope that Canucks can win their remaining games. What’s troubling right now is that they are playing at home, and their playing better than they were, but their still finding ways to lose. Not everyone believes that they can win at a .750 for the rest of their games: 1. With their veterans serving up pizzas night after night. 2. Rolling 2.5 lines every game. 3. With special teams that have not been “special” 4. Given their poor record against Canadian teams, last year and this year. 5. With good, bu not elite, goaltending. 6. Without a coaching change. St Louis had a complete turnaround two years ago and won a Cup, because the team fired their coaches. Will the Canucks do something that significant, aka the Habs? Or will they maintain the status quo, and hope for a brighter future next year? I think that the team is already looking ahead to next year. I’m not overreacting to a bad start. To me a bad start would be playing .500 hockey. Sub .400 is a horrendous start. Been a fan since day one and it’s pretty clear already where this team headed. Overreaction or realism? GCG
  2. Habs winning % .611 - fire coaching staff. Canucks winning % .391. - don’t worry be happy.
  3. Well played. Since my acceptance of the current, er, state of affairs, I’ve been moving up the ladder like a boss.
  4. You can take Newall Brown. He should be hitting the open market some time soon.
  5. Congrats Burr! No to Julian, mainly due to health concerns. I always liked Muller , tho. This guy knows how to hang onto his job
  6. In years gone by that statement would have bothered me. This year l’m remarkably composed about it . The numbers don’t lie. Snag a high draft pick, shed bad contracts and surplus to needs players and coaches. Then come roaring back next year and kick bum. The future still looks very bright. In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy the games on a worry free basis. GCG
  7. Last year Canucks were a team like that. Now they are actually a team like that.
  8. Amen to that, My family came to America in 1955 from Ireland. Landed in New York and hopped on a train all the way to Vancouver., where we settled down. Growing up in East Van, the Chinese immigrants were taking the brunt of the racism in those days.
  9. I think that Trump has been able to do that. Your life will be better, your suburbs will be safer and this country will thrive if you vote for me. I don’t buy any of it. It helps explain why there are so many true believers.
  10. I think that It’s more about the latter. The Newt Gingrich doctrine that Trump has glommed onto. It’s a very racist doctrine that harkens back to the “good old days” when immigrants weren’t flooding into the country, snapping up all the good jobs. A lot of people that buy into this world view don’t like being called on it. Hence the whataboutism and all the bleating about being “persecuted” by Libtards.
  11. It’s hard being someone who doesn’t support Trump. All this intellectual dishonesty is really weighing on me.
  12. Back to more serious matters. Been reading Trumpocracy by David Frum and he points out that the divide is not between the Left and the Right anymore, it’s between the Nationalists and Globalists. This helps explain why in.2016: - Trump polled better among workers earning between 50,000 to $100,00 than those earning over $100,000. - he polled better among Union workers than any Republican since 1984. - he improved on Romney’s 2012 performance among Latino and black men. Meanwhile In 2016 Hillary performed extremely well among Americans earning over $250,000, and extremely poorly with white woman without a college degree. So, are people being “persecuted” for being Republicans or Democrats, or are they being “persecuted” for being Trump adherents, or in other words Nationalists?
  13. Lived in East Van within walking distance of the PNE. The walk home took the edge of whatever we put in our systems during the concert.
