  1. You really should just relax and see what happens. Linden has been on the job a few hours and he hasn't hired a new GM yet or made any other personnel changes. That likely won't be happening for a couple of months before we begin to see the changes. If you believe the real changes need to happen on the ice then wasn't today a potentially good step in that direction? It's too early for anyone to know what lies ahead so I'd suggest you temper your criticisms for the moment. They aren't warranted at this juncture due to lack of information.
  2. To suggest that the media treats different individuals differently is naive? You might want to rethink that suggestion. Linden has cultivated longstanding relationships with the media in this city, and across the country, without animosity. That's a big reason he was hired today along with his background. There was never any suggestion he is immune to criticism. The suggestion is that he will handle it in a more balanced way and will not exacerbate any dispute. He'll put out fires not create them. Certainly better than the last 15 years of GMs in this town have done.
  3. Apparently it just means more to you than it does to everyone else. I think the rest of us see a context from him and a current environment around the team that makes his statement negligible. He's the Captain that needs to back his teammates. He's not the man in charge. If you hadn't noticed, big changes are coming from the top down. Most of us are prepared to watch the next few months without getting our panties in a bunch.
  4. After re-listening to the press conference I came to one conclusion…. Linden will help repair the relationship with the media both in the city and nationwide. He took the opportunity to allow the media their props, they need that for their ego, and he will be a hard target for them to get personal with. His likability and mutual respect will go along way to allowing his individual message to be taken at face value. Hopefully he can hire a GM with those similar qualities to help augment the franchise facelift. With any luck, the running of the team can get back to talking about hockey rather than off-ice drama.
  5. I'd also suspect that the new GM will have been completely up to date on this draft already.
  6. Now you're just reaching. Linden is not entering a scorched earth. One man was fired. That's all. No decision in an organization like this, whether that be hirings, contracts, drafts or trades, happen without consultation amongst the different levels of staff. The GM is the boss, they aren't an island.
  7. 'Entitled.' Yes, I'd agree. You're very entitled. Don't rule out him doing a good job yet either.
  8. Wow. You call Linden a bozo and then insult his intelligence. He may not have experience in this role but everyone is a rookie at some point. Linden has integrity, respect, intelligence and desire. Can't believe you can find a way to criticize that after an hour on the job. Wow.
  9. Excuse me?!? Did you just call Linden a bozo?
  10. That's what I got out of that comment.
  11. LOL. I wonder when the first Linden hate thread will pop up.
  12. The hockey operations part still makes me wonder whether he gets much of a say in the new GM or not. I guess we'll see.
  13. Benning Fenton Will Gilman Botterill Anyone of these.
  14. So…. the real question is whether he will be solely responsible for hiring the new GM or not. As in, what are his official functions under this title?
  15. Rask for Vezina. Bergeron for Selke. The numbers speak for themselves.
  16. It's official now as per the Canucks app. President of Hockey Operations.
  17. That's iffy, though. He may not be in charge if that process. He may be being hired as mainly a PR guy. Even if he is, is it a good idea? He's been out of the league for a long time. He may not have the understanding to make that decision.
  18. Yeesh. I hope Trevor knows what he's getting into. I'd he ok with the move as long as they hire a real GM rather than Feaster. If Trev has to oversee a Feaster/Torts combo then he's in bad shape.
  19. There was maybe 500-1000 chanting last night.
  20. Jay Feaster trade record with the Flames: - Freddy Modin for 2011 7th round pick (#193-Colin Blackwell) - Roman Horak, 2011 2nd round pick (#45-Markus Granlund), 2011 2nd round pick (#57-Tyler Wotherspoon) for Tim Erixon, 2011 5th round pick (#133-Shane McColgan) - Chris Butler and Paul Byron for Ales Kotalik, Robyn Regehr, 2012 2nd round pick (#44 - Jake McCabe) - Jordan Henry for Keith Seabrook - Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond for a 2012 5th round draft pick (#135 - Graham Black) - Lee Stempniak for Daymond Langkow - Blair Jones for Brendan Mikkelson - Michael Cammalleri, Karri Ramo, 2012 5th round pick (Brett Kulak) for Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland, 2013 2nd round pick (#36 - Zach Fucale) - Brian Connelly for Brendan Morrison - Akim Aliu for John Negrin - 2012 1st round pick (#21-Mark Jankowski), 2012 2nd round pick (#42-Patrick Sieloff) for 2012 1st round pick (#14-Zemgus Girgensons) - Dennis Wideman for Jordan Henry and a 2013 5th round pick - 7th Round Pick (#198 - John Gilmour) for Henrik Karlsson - Mike Testwuide for Mitch Wahl - Brian McGrattan for Joe Piskula - Ben Hanowski, Kenny Agostino and a 2013 1st Round Pick (#28 - Morgan Klimchuck) for Jarome Iginla - Mark Cundari, Reto Berra and a 2013 1st round pick (#22 - Emile Porier) for Jay Bouwmeester - 2013 5th Round Pick (#135 - Eric Roy) for Blake Comeau - Corban Knight for a 2013 4th Round Pick (#97 - Michael Downing) - David Jones and Shane O`Brien for Cory Sarich and Alex Tanguay - T.J. Galiardi for a 2015 4th Round Pick - Kris Russell for a 2014 5th Round Pick
  21. I'm not going on hiatus. You have me pegged incorrectly. Feaster has the worst resume out there. It would be dark times but I'm not a quit on your team type of man.
  22. But that's exactly what feaster is known to do. That and making terrible draft selections. Who becomes our next GM, regardless of direction, is hugely important. If it is Feaster I'll quote you for the next few years because it isn't going to wind up being what you think it will be.
  23. Absolutely not. Feaster has never been able to do that. That isn't his resume. He has never properly rebuilt a team. He has had the exact opposite effect. Hiring Feaster does not equal McDavid. That's a ridiculous suggestion. Bringing in Feaster would be the worst business and hockey decision that could be made. If you want to build through the draft you need a GM without one of the worst drafting records if the last decade.
  24. If they hire Feaster tomorrow then on Thursday the 'Fire Feaster' chants should start immediately. It would be the worst decision ever.
  25. I don't disagree but it's a nightmare scenario and one that this ownership group seems capable of making come true.
