  1. Taylor on 1040 said he is not feeling well, will be a game time decision....
  2. Interesting that some keep up bringing up the 2014 and 2016 first round picks..... The way I look at it is this Unless something goes horribly sideways this year the Canucks will have 3 consecutive calder cup finalists. BB,EP and QH. Im too lazy to do the homework here but how many teams in the past have had 3 in a row? How about how many teams have had three in a row without ever picking in the top 4? To make matters more interesting one can argue that at least 2 out of those 3 were not obvious draft picks. Many of the rankings I saw had EP ranked below 5th. How about BB where he was picked? Surely those players around him were ranked so closely how can anyone argue he was sure pick? At the end of the day the impact of JB's wins in the first round largely outweigh the perceived misses.
  3. I wonder if drai would have scored twice from roughly the same spot if Edler was covering the left side on the pk.
  4. So the schedule gets better for a while. can’t wait for Ferland, Rouss, Sutter and Beagle to get back. i think they will go on a roll again. coilers are gonna hang around in a good position all year. They have two game breakers and the rest of the plugs have bought into Tippets bore you to death system. Not a great recipe for long term success but it’s working for now..
  5. A merry f u to the schedule makers and the league.. 6 game road trip then come home on a back to back. coilers suck. Textbook Definition of a one line team.
  6. I got a brother in law who is a coilers fan, hes missing a tooth, wears sweat pants to formal events, plays the banjo, and needs a ladder to get into his truck (no joking here)...we bet a bottle o booze on each Canucks / Coilers game...if there is one team I hate losing to (besides the flames) its the coil.
  7. If they Canucks were even thinking of pulling off a big move like this I would prefer that they spend the assets on a legit offensively minded top 4 d man. Someone besides QH that can rush the puck and generate points from the blue line. A guy that can play on a different pairing than QH and transition the puck and or generate rushes would do wonders for the top 6.
  8. Media generating Johnny Gaudreau speculation..... https://nypost.com/2019/11/23/maple-leafs-dysfunction-devils-taylor-hall-idea-in-lowly-times/ https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/rumor-roundup-why-flames-canadiens-are-two-clubs-to-keep-an-eye-on
  9. live stream of Treliving's press conference here....looks like Peters has resigned? Tre looks like a genuinely good guy...not a good situation to deal with, he got emotional a few times during the press conference
  10. good points. it probably doesnt hurt having the top 2 guys in the league taking it to the other team and taking the onus off of any defensive systems...
  11. i kept thinking "why are they handing the whole perimiter of the d zone to the other team"....they seem to collapse ..dont know if this is out of panic or if its the defensive system. it happens too much...happens in consecutive games. It would be interesting to see/study what kind of changes Tippett has made in Edmonton. I know that McNugget and Drai are flying high right now but Edmonton looked horrible defensively last year- doesnt look like they are put on the ropes as much this year.
  12. Game after game they collapse around the goalie and hand the other team the whole perimeter in the d zone. If the goalie doesn’t stand on his head or if edler and tanev don’t block a million shots it’s a long night. team after team seems to be doing it to them. Is this part of defensive strategy? It also seems that they need greens shutdown guys to succeed while playing like this. Guys that win draws, can win board battles, and get their sticks in the way. Problem is those guys are injured and the rest, including the coaches can’t adapt.
  13. Holy moly man....lets wait for something like this to happen before speculating and sounding the fire alarms...
  14. Agree with most points. Also agree that Baer and Goldy had their chance. EDIT: just as we are talking about this looks like Goldy gets another chance https://www.nhl.com/canucks/news/vancouver-canucks-nikolay-goldobin/c-311813884
  15. I think effort certainly is an issue, but it is magnified by the (relatively thin) talent on the roster and in some ways how the coach deploys the systems. To me it looks like Green wants big bodies that fore check and basically put a wet blanket on the opposing team on the walls. Theres no room for guys like Baer or Goldobin in this sort of plan. Just wear the other team down and hope that the PP and the core 4 can come up with some offence. They dont have enough offensive talent on the blue line or sprinkled throughout the lineup to come out like sloths and expect to come out on the winning end.
  16. This is a bubble team. There will be stretches where they look like champs, there will be stretches where they look like a dogs breakfast. Which way the pendulum swings depends on who they play and what the injuries du jour are. In order to surpass being a bubble team they need two more legit top 6 wingers, and at least one more offensively gifted D man. We are closer than we were last year.
  17. Just fast forward through the whole game lucky. It will look like keystone cops. White sweaters just chasing and shooting a muffin once in a while.
  18. You think they have turned the corner then they look like a bottom team again. Don’t know what to think anymore.
  19. Ferland can deliver clean punishing hits, thats a nice tool to have in the toolbox for this team As for fighting, im concerned for the kid.....i hope he doesnt fight anymore. He has a history of concussion thats getting longer. Im not a Dr, but I would think that having someone like Kassian or Reaves teeing off on his head wont be a good thing for his long term health.
  20. Im happy to hear Ferland is joining the team in PIttsburgh. Maybe we will see him back before the end of the road trip.
  21. To add to this TSN has a new ranking of core players. Canucks are at number 4. https://www.tsn.ca/edmonton-oilers-lead-the-pack-in-core-4-u-24-nhl-player-ranking-1.1401995
  22. Funny how lames fans still cry about Burrows diving and here is their captain with an embarrassing Olympic diving effort....
