[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Boston Bruins | Nov. 13, 2022

I think a lot of the fans thought he was injury prone. In Calgary he has been relatively healthy (he sat out for some of the playoffs last year and some of this year). I think part of the problem here was the way Green liked to defend, and the fact that he played on some pretty bad teams where he was absorbing shots night after night and chasing the play alot. Not a good recipe for a d man to stay healthy. What bothered me the most about the whole Tanev situation was how they let him walk to a primary enemy. HIs cap hit in Calgary isnt terrible either. When I say "how they let him walk" ...i listened to an interview with him where he stated that he wasnt even called by Canucks management....it was basically silence when he turned UFA. Maybe i misinterpreted what I heard but imho thats no way to treat a player that was a pillar of the organization for years. They let a top tier d man, a vezina calibre goalie, and Edler walk for basically zero. -

Calgary had lost 7 in a row till last night. Then Chris Tanev joined the chat. They got him back in the lineup and even the commentators stated how much calmer Markstrom and the whole defence seemed with Tanev in the lineup. Hes a top tier shutdown d man. A guy you can throw out there to close out the game. We have nobody like that. Its a tire fire back there. Hughes makes up for his average at best d play with his offence. OEL is steady on some nights, other nights not so much. Myers is a walking (er skating) gong show. The bottom pair guys basically do their job but I wouldnt put them out there to shutdown the other teams top players. They need to start improving/building the team from the blue line out. -

Brock is taking a lot of criticism here, and a lot of it is warranted, but this statement has no foundation. If you rank the 2015 draft class by points BB6 is 10th. Hes performed above his draft position(23), unlike the two you list above him. Juolevi - which was a stretch of a pick at the time (and could have been defendable at the time since even Bob McKenzie stated he was ranked in the ball park of where he was taken) - was probably the worst pick made that year (and perhaps in a 5 year window) -

agree with you jack. the d core is poor, but its weakness is magnified by the lack of any structure in the d zone. They dont have the horses to keep outscoring their problems in the back end night after night. -

Boston looks like a really good team. Good mix of skill and toughness. Watching them now vs Flames -

I agree with you on this. I like the player, he is talented but at the end of the day he is a undersized 50 point winger. He generates a lot of noise on the boards, which is fine, but can you win the big prize with more than one smallish player in your top 6. Regarding cap hit, Garland is touted around here as being great value for the dollar. Maybe we are so used to watching Loui, OEL Myers etc so Garland looks like a steal. But last year - according to this site (and someone correct me if I am wrong) -he ranked 342 in the nhl for all forwards cost per point. Granted there are players that played fewer games...so even at best hes probably around average at best when it comes to value. https://www.capfriendly.com/cost-per-point/2022/season/forwards At the end of the day if you want to fix the defence hes one of the few chips of value that can be moved. -
