You can hear the St.Cloud State vs UND game right now here for free: http://www.undsports.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&id=1756807&catid=0&KEY=ALUNTXGUSNLFOLR.20170128024158&DB_OEM_ID=13500

Here is the audio of Pierre gushing about Gaudette and Boeser http://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040-i-1410/mcguire-boeser-ready-to-step-in-gaudette-might-be-steal-of-2015-draft-1.693323 Loves Gaudette. Says its not inconceivable that Boeser scores 15-20 goals in the NHL in his first year.

If Megna could score another 47 goals a year he would be the next Bossy!
-
his hatrick goal....nicest one of the three
-
Looks like he didnt play last night either. Anyone know what the injury is? http://www.undsports.com/downloads2/1249702.htm?ATCLID=211514164&SPSID=58684&SPID=6405&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=13500

Jake scored last night!

I'm sure the wranglers boots and t shirt work well downtown tumbler ridge I just got a small feeling the kid is a little more worldly than that though... now that I know brett Favre is a reference point for fashion I'll pay more attention to his wardrobe ... lol
-
Lol... enjoying the comments about the kids style and choice of clothes. If you were his age, an elite athlete, and on the verge of big bank what would you do? Get a bowl cut ,wrangler jeans and a black t-shirt? Good for him!! his GQ look and his choice of cars I say!!

London knights on sportsnet starting at 1pm today

Using your logic then Boeser should be ranked much lower because hes barely above a ppg in a league where the top guys are over 1.5 ppg. Sometimes theres more to it than points - hey I admit that this list is subjective ...but I suspect Button isnt completely out to lunch.
-
Craig Button has ranked Boeser at #8 in his list of top 50 players not in the NHL. Very impressive company he has in the top 10. Button loves this guy. So far he seems to have been right about Virtanen (Button had him ranked in the second round) lets hope he is right about Boeser: http://www.tsn.ca/talent/who-are-the-best-players-not-skating-in-the-nhl-1.677389

Not sure why people keep bringing up M.T. There is no way the draft can be undone - and talking about coulda-shoulda-woulda ad nauseam is about as effective as talking about missing out on Kopitar, Hossa, Paul f@#$# Coffee, and a plethora of other good players that the Canucks could have taken. In the end if Juolevi pans out to what he has been projected to be ( a top pairing d man) , and him turning out as projected is NOT AT ALL FAR FETCHED, the draft pick was an excellent one because I would choose a top pairing D man over a top 6 winger (unless said winger is a ppg or ppg+ player) every time. Every single time. Can we just talk about Juolevi? Can we talk about his progress, stats, post highlights and forget that Calgary chump. As soon as chucky boy put on that horrid meat rot fascist beer hall RED Jersey I wrote him off.... Sheesh!

Your assessment wasnt that far off iMHO.. Backlund has been the flames most complete player this year. Frolik isnt chopped liver either, hes got 31 points and is a plus. Both pretty good defensive players. Its an ideal situation to put a rookie into since those are the right guys that will cover his arse in case of a defensive lapse (Frolik and Backlund are a better defensive combo than Monahan and Johnny boy)
-
Thats a good one. The other good example is Marian Hossa back in 97. I can only imagine how Canuck fans would be panicking if we ended up picking third and took PLD who looked llike a plug in the WJC and has taken more than half a season to crank out respectable point totals in the Q. They might be wishing for Juolevi !
-
I agree with everything you say except Im not so sure hes going to turn out to be the impact player some are thinking he will be. 11 goals is great, its not like it hasnt been done before. In the end it comes down to this - if Juolevi turns out to be a top pair D man - I will choose a top pair dman every time over a top 6 winger. Every time.... unless we are talking about point per game guys - and I doubt he is that good. And for that I reserve judgement until Juolevi is at least given a chance to show us what he can do when he makes it to this level.
-
sure they got a great player. My point is that he wouldnt be a 36 point player on the Canucks. If Bo Horvat started on the 4th line here this year, and had to go through the wall to get second unit pp time and still doesnt get put on the ice with the goalie pulled I doubt Keith Junior would be getting the equivalent of what hes got in Calgary here - two very good line mates and top 6 time. People freaking out about his point total and then comparing him to Juolevi isnt exactly fair at this point.
-
Do you guys really think that Willie would have put Tkachuck in the top 6, given him PP time, and all of the ice time he gets in Calgary. No way he would have 36 points right now if he was here. Hes playing with two established players, one of which is having a career year. I wonder if he would have 25 assists playing with any combo of Chaput, Skille, Megna, Gaunce etc? Id argue that Backlund is a better forward than anyone on the Canucks not named Bo right now. Hes a good player who has been put in an extremely good situation. I will reserve my judgement on pick 5 vs pick 6 for about another 3 to 4 years.

I wouldn't be so confident with that "100%" sure decision. Monahan is soft as butter and is invisible in games where he doesnt contribute on the scoreboard. Not only that he gets favourable o zone starts, first unit pp time, has a defence that is capable of generating way more offence than what Horvat has here in Vancouvver, and he gets to play with line mates just a little more talented than Horvat. And looking at their numbers this year I think Horvat has done about the same with way less benefits. In other words Id like to see what Monahan would do here in Vancouver with Burrows and Baertschi as linemates, playing reduced minutes, getting half arse second unit pp time, barely any offensive contribution (in terms of points or generating anything) from his blue line, and a hell of a lot more d zone starts. I highly doubt he would have the same number of points. However, if you supplant Horvat into Monahan's candy arse situation, with that surrounding cast, I bet you he would have at least the same number of points he does now.

Anyone else hear Craig Button on 1040 today say that the Canucks messed up Jake's development? Button said that Jake should have been sent back to junior last year and then directly to the AHL this year. He said that the AHL is still a very hard league to play in and some players need time to adjust - im inferring that he meant especially players who had their ego swollen a bit by getting the NHL treatment too early and too prematurely.... Just paraphrasing what he said. Other times I heard him on the same broadcast he was very high on Juolevi and he absolutely loves Boeser. I think Button had Boeser in the top 10 for his draft year.

So according to this, depending on what other guys have done tonight, he moves into top 5 NCAA scoring. I checked the guys ahead of him and hes the youngest player in the top 9 right now... http://www.collegehockeynews.com/stats/overall.php

Very true... Well, they are right back at it tomorrow night vs Syracuse. Someone wrote that Canuck management might be in attendance this weekend. Hopefully he follows up with another strong performance and gets going in the right direction...

Virtanen had a great game tonight. Dont give up on this kid. Forget about his draft position. He is a Canuck asset and could be a very valuable one too. If he can use his speed and heavy forecheck to cause turn overs and wear down d men, that alone is a valuable asset. I still think we can see 20 goal years from this kid. Look at Boston and LA: they won cups with big fore checking wingers that could wear down the opposition and cause havoc in the corners and in front of the net. It takes all types of ingredients and he brings a lot of valuable assets to the table. He doesnt have to score 40 goals.

Listening to the Comets vs Penguins game....Comets down 3-1 in the third, good news is that announcer is saying Jake is having a very strong game. Back checking, forechecking, getting shots. Attacking with speed....he ran over Tom Kostopoulos...sounds like one of his best games in the past weeks....
