  1. Good observation about Hogz. Good motor but too many mistakes in the d zone, and his hands ( more specifically his shot) isn’t good enough to absolve him from the misplays and lapses. I really like the kid and his potential but he might be a piece that they move for help on defence.
  2. I was expecting a loss. Nice effort tonight. The role players stepped up. i got to think if green was the coach the team would have played that passive defensive box all night and would have got lit up.
  3. Is Marchment related to that old dirt bag marchment that used to play like 20 yrs ago?
  4. To calm my nerves before what seems to be a lopsided contest tonight (on paper at least), i have been feasting my senses on the HF Oilers board and the incredible amusement it brings me these days. Who would have seen this coming...they were supposed to win a cup with Koskinen or the 40yr old hot head in net....
  5. I don’t know what’s more predictable your daily hate for Brock or Alf whinging about demko.
  6. 5 goals in 6 games prior to the trio of games (car, fla, tb) where the top 6 were mostly blanked and he’s got one here tonight. kinda funny seeing one it two posters constantly Btch about him when they are losing, almost like they want him to fail.
  7. The closest one to me is in Richmond. I knew a manager there once and he told me per square foot it’s one of the busiest in North America. You couldn’t pay me to go there on the weekend. My wife’s desire to go there put us on the brink of divorce once. The parking lot was full, the side roads were full.. when she insisted on circling for parking I got out of the car when it was still moving lol
  8. It’s a smart move to move him at the tdl because you can really leverage on the competition between legit cup contenders who will view Miller as a difference maker. It’s the prime opportunity to get a team that is willing to sacrifice their future for a cup to over pay.
  9. How do you fix the holes without trading at least two core players? It’s not like they have any life savers in the pipeline. To me this looks like a three year project. Best, and most painful short term move, is to move Miller for a legit top 4 young Dman plus a combo of draft picks or good prospects. I love Miller but he will be too old and expensive when the team is ready to roll with the big boys. i would acquire 0 players that are under 6 foot or 190 lbs for the next three years. podz, Bo, Hughes, demko are my core. Give EP another year.
  10. No excuse imho. roster is deficient, and the holes are magnified against the best teams. Our d Core has to be in the bottom quarter of the league when it comes to size and offensive ability. no 3c… no toughness up front. When the top 6 don’t contribute It’s almost a guaranteed loss
  11. My measuring stick, which is the most realistic context I can think of, are the bubble playoffs. They faced teams that we’re trying to kill him and he kept producing. 18 points in 17 games. The wild, St. Louis and Vegas were big strong teams that put out their best d men and checkers against him. It’s not like he was strong then either. He took a beating and he kept producing. i think the problem is in his head this year. His confidence is down and this affects his strongest attribute- the way he processes the game.
  12. I remember a few years back when Bo had seasons with atrocious plus minus and droughts that seemed to last for months. On one occasion a video was released showing Hank skating around the ice with Bo, shoulder to shoulder, during practice - the assumption was Hank was giving him a pep talk because Bo seemed to be down on himself coz of how badly his season was going. i bet you Bo was roughly the same age as EP is now. its kinda funny how some posters are so quick to crucify young players while comparing them to older players on the team who have gone through worst droughts. Anyone remember what Miller looked like at EP’s age? He was a tire fire. Think of all the brain farts without the offence. how about the sedins? They used to trip over the blue line and get worked physically game after game at that age. Let’s give the kid a chance. I don’t care about his paycheque right now. He absolutely earned that contract, I think he’s in a rut… we have seen everyone from naslund to sedins to horvat have droughts in their early years.
  13. To me this was a measuring stick. Last game too. 7 years going on 8 of Bennings work. Probably 3 prominent players away from being able to run with the big dogs. At least one offensively gifted forward (preferably a C) and a couple d men- one that is offensive minded and another that is a hard nosed shutdown type. i think that they can effectively compete against middle and lower tier teams, they need to bolster the roster to be a true threat. hopefully the new management team have some solutions.
  14. So refreshing to see the Canucks pressure the other team while they are on the PK Shows how terrible Green and Co’s strategies were. Sit back like a pin cushion and just let the other team fire at will.
