  1. They always make this guy look like Tretiak
  2. i dont want to mention names, theres a guy that usually posts in here when they are losing and all he does is btch about brock lol
  3. Brock Boeser is this teams best goal scorer. He always has been, and an offensive minded coach like BB will bring out the best in him. I chuckle when I see posters claim that Hogz and even a minor leager like Klimovich can replace BB. Hogz is a good supporting player but he has never scored at any level like BB6 has.
  4. yup, makes sense. it will be a lot they ask for. this kinda makes me think back to Juolevi. Too bad he didnt pan out, imho it was a big blow to the org not having him turn into a top tier d man for where he was selected. Not blaming Benning (too much) ...a lot of scouts/orgs had him ranked high. We would be in pretty good shape today with any one of the d men that came after him, McAvoy, Chyc, Sergachev....
  5. I havent watched Arizona play much lately, but I remember all the hype around him early on in his draft year and he looks to be a big young physical d man. Yeah, i wont put too much weight into plus minus seeing that the team he plays on is horrible. Im just trying to rationalize what kind of price needs to be paid. I suspect Arizona would be asking for a younger core player (PODZ, EP)..to fit in with what they are trying to do...
  6. Is Chycrun that good that a trade warrants a first rounder plus one of Miller/Boeser? I have never paid attention to him...all i see are his db stats. EDIT: I ask this coz I look at relatively recent trades. For instance Hanafin in Calgary cost a first and two second rounders, so did dougie Hamilton but that was a while ago.
  7. where’s that guy that keeps complaining about Hughes contract
  8. This is hard to believe. I guess the good Canuck teams didn’t fall 3 goals behind too often but that stat is like 25 years ago lol
  9. Bunch O guys out with Covid Spot em 3 goals Down to 5 D Heart Attack Halak in net AHL bottom Pair D No problem
  10. Trying to do the math here… so according to some… -Brock can’t skate -Brock too soft -Brock can’t defend -Brock one dimensional -Brock can’t drive play therefore Brock not worth the QO but at the same time, not only Is some other team Gonna give him the money, they are also going to give the Canucks a top tier D man in return too. Makes sense!!
  11. Pearson has been good on the boards winning battles. Numerous times he looks like he’s in an inferior position yet he manages to win the puck. Brock looking better defensively too.
  12. A goal of the rush! Unlike the scourge Green dump n chase tactics petey and Brock looking good
  13. I don’t disagree with you for the most Part, although I would have really liked to have Tanev on our team right now. What I was trying to say is if those players were not in the long term plans they should have been moved for impactful assets earlier in their careers. I can see one or two walking for nothing but to many good players walked for nothing and it’s one of the reasons we are in this hole. This is where I bring in the Miller situation. Do you move him for really good assets now or do you sign him to a big contract with the hopes that a 30 plus year old Miller will help a much younger Hughes, Pettersson and Podkolzin win in a few years? i can see points in arguments that go both ways but after everything I’ve seen here in the past years I’m leaning towards what I see as the safer play- get a kings ransom for him at the tdl when teams will be arming up for a playoff run and will be likely to overpay to keep him away from competitors.
  14. But you are guessing… and that’s my point here . Haven’t we learned from the past. They let Art Ross caliber players retire here. Edler, Markstrom, Tanev … legit difference makers walk for nothing. A big bag of nothing for players that were really good. i think the safe play that will have the most impact long term is you leverage on Miller at the TDL and add pieces to the core that are in same part of their playing life cycle and probably cheaper. It puts the org in full control of the asset. this is not too say I don’t like him as a player. He’s fantastic , mostly.. it’s how do you build for the long term.
  15. I should have worded my post better. Maybe he doesn’t take the most money, maybe he takes an inferior contract because he sees a chance to win. this is all speculation. I guess my point is unless there’s some magic here fast and the Canucks become a top tier team I’m not so sure he will want to stick around. Maybe the safe smart play is to get a kings ransom for him while his stock is at an all time high… like at the TDL
  16. I like what JT brings to the table but what I think some people are missing is… what makes you think he will want to stay here? He’s going to want to win and unless there’s a big turn around here in the next year I bet he’s going to walk to the best bidder. And I’m not talking about turn around in the sense that the Canucks become a a playoff team, I’m taking legit contender. He will be on the cusp of 30, final big contract, and years to win start dwindling fast. while we all ( well most) want him here , I’m not convinced he will want to stay. imagine the damage done if he walks for nothing…. Like a lot of other vets did
  17. I think that was after Wilson bullied the Pens in the playoffs. I was just on the HF mainboard and a Pitts fan basically said that Rutherford lost all logic when Wilson got in his head, it was basically all downhill after that. Reminds me to a lesser degree of Gillis bringing in guys lie Mancari, Bitz, and Volapatti after getting pushed around by Boston.
  18. Its a three year contract. In light of his age you got to think hes here to settle things down, mentor someone else for the role, and get a GM in here that will be a longer term solution. I see the hiring of these older guys, BB and JR, as a short term stabilizer for the org.
  19. Trying to look at this logically...., seeing the guys age you would think he might stick around for a couple years to settle down the org and mentor the sedins to take over the POHO.
