7.5 will be steep if he continues to play like this, no doubt. I still dont know enough about how qualifying offers work...for instance if he underproduces can they offer him a lower amount for a longer term and everything is ok as long as he accepts it?
But for arguments sake...
In the big picture, on a sample larger than,....you know,..16 games this year, Boeser's worst season is still 6 points ahead of Garland's best season. Garland is about a year older so they are roughly the same age. So its easy to compare output of guys playing on relatively bad teams.
Boeser led the team in scoring last year. He has put up 20+ goals in all but one season. The arguments that he cant make plays , doesnt have good hands, and cant win board battles are exaggerations and are tainted by what has happened here in the past 4 weeks. How do you consistently put up 20+ goals and lead an NHL team in scoring if you are so bad?
I agree Boeser needs to be better.
I get it that people are excited about guys like Garland, Podkolzin and Hogz...but id be careful before thinking these guys make anyone expendable especially after only 19 games. Hogs and Podz for instance have never been goal scorers in their previous leagues.
Lets not forget EP and Boeser looked like all stars for long stretches, longer than any of Hogs, Pods, and Garland have.
