The Yankees broadcast mentioned that only 20% of his swings are at pitches outside of the strikezone. I'm not sure how that compares with others in the league, but their broadcast seemed to be implying that it was close to best in the majors. I'm sure it is close if not the best, the guy knows his strike zone like no one else I know. I used to get tired of watching him complain all the time to umps about strikes, but have realized he has a right to complain because he knows his strike zone he knows when it's a ball and a strike. There's a reason he's not swinging at a ball but when an ump calls it a strike I get his frustration. I have noticed more this year umps have been calling his zone better, in the past a borderline pitch was called a strike on him but lately they have been calling it a ball. I think the umps have finally realized that Bautista was right all those years before arguing to them and they went and watched the replays and realized Bautista was right and they were wrong, and they trust his judgement more now when he lays off a border line pitch.
