It really is fun to watch. The Yankees broadcast mentioned that only 20% of his swings are at pitches outside of the strikezone. I'm not sure how that compares with others in the league, but their broadcast seemed to be implying that it was close to best in the majors.

I'm sure it is close if not the best, the guy knows his strike zone like no one else I know. I used to get tired of watching him complain all the time to umps about strikes, but have realized he has a right to complain because he knows his strike zone he knows when it's a ball and a strike. There's a reason he's not swinging at a ball but when an ump calls it a strike I get his frustration.

I have noticed more this year umps have been calling his zone better, in the past a borderline pitch was called a strike on him but lately they have been calling it a ball. I think the umps have finally realized that Bautista was right all those years before arguing to them and they went and watched the replays and realized Bautista was right and they were wrong, and they trust his judgement more now when he lays off a border line pitch.

  2. Bautista is back imo, lately he's been hitting balls on a rope when I see that, you know he's right on the ball. He's had a off year this year because of injuries, but he has gotten back in a groove now perfect timing for where this team is. Just watching his first AB he's seeing the ball so perfect, it's amazing watching him bat because he's got such a good eye of the ball.

I used to play third...I know all about it...but lately I have been holding my breath on Donaldsons throws..might be something to do with his injury still lingering,,not sure...as for Travis I dont know if you want him as a DH fulltime..I think he is far to young for that..this is his first full year in the league..Ill give him the benifit of the doubt..I tend to agree this isnt the time of year to be learning how to play second...but there is a real log jam of DHs on this team and he is to good of a hitter to sit..

For the rest of this season not his career.

he didnt play well tonight..I dont need valadation on that...Travis lastnight..him today....they are both great hitters but do have their off days in the field...and when they both rush their throws sometimes it doesnt work out that good.

People were quick to say that Travis should DH because of his defence...but in reality Donaldson has made more errors than Travis so far this year...dont get me wrong..they both will be the face of the franchise next year and I love them..just how I feel today.

Donaldson has started in 124 games 13 errors, Travis has started 88 games 11 errors and the one he dropped in his glove was called a hit yesterday... No question Donaldson screwed up tonight, but a guy who plays 3rd is farthest away from 1st and will have to rush his throws more often then the guy closest to 1st.

I still believe he should be DH, I don't see a problem with it, just can't have a player learning as he goes at this stage of the season and how important the games are imo.... Why put all that pressure on a rookie when he doesn't need to be put in that position....

  5. At least the Bats have a real excuse today for not hitting they were up against Felix the King, an actual CY Young pitcher. It's the games when they're not facing a CY Young pitcher and they choke, that can't happen.

As much as it sucks losing I can at least accept this loss, compared to others when they shouldn't be losing.

Alright Travis needs to DH... this is BS

Yes couldn't agree more, luckily his error only cost us 2 runs, compared to Seattles catcher lol. But still in close games that will lose you a game.

Looks like no 20 wins for Happ tonight...shaping up to be another number in the loss column when they could pick up a game on the Os...this team is so inept.

    All over them tonight Shaky:P

I don't know why you quoted me, what you're saying has nothing to do with what I said.

Being a star doesn't just mean losing 7 times out of 10. Being a star means recognizing why you lost 7 times and making adjustments... Plus I wasn't even talking about hitting I was talking about base running.

Well losing 7 out of 10 times is a .300 hitter, so not sure what your expecting out of some players to hit above .300 while it's hard enough to hit .300. Normally a guy batting over .300 is already a star. I understand you weren't talking about this, but I had to comment, since you commented.

They're both getting there, but right now there are too many holes in the lineup to string together big innings. Last night was another example. All the scoring was basically done on two hits. They need JD to start hitting. They need Bats, Bossman and Saunders to start hitting. Everyone needs to shorten up and put the ball in play with two strikes. I don't care if you're a home run hitter, wait back on the ball and take it the other way.

I saw a couple of encouraging things last night though. The guys were running on a sub-par catcher. Zeke dropped down a bunt. Saunders in his one at bat, went the other way. If that sort of attitude starts filtering around the clubhouse, maybe the double-digit strikeouts will stop and maybe the Jays will start winning series again...

Hard to knock Bats, when he is getting on base with walks. He's had a tough season, with injuries so he hasn't really gotten into a good groove yet. But Bats was 0-1 with 3 walks yesterday, I'd rather he get on base 3 out of 4 times then trying to swing for the fence all the time and pop out or strike out. I do agree guys like Saunders needs to start hitting again, JD is obviously dealing with something, but we need him in the line up.

BC Place has/d a horrible reputation as a baseball stadium after a Seattle player (super star whose name escapes me) ripped up his knee in an exhibition. Also the new scoreboard would need to be moved.

Who would have the money to build a true baseball park, and buy/relocate a team?

Yeah I know about BC Place that's why they can't have exhibition games there from the scoreboard. Who has money to build anything? There are people with money they just want the fan support first, I believe the fan base is here for it. Personally I would like to see the Stadium built in the Langley area, more central for everyone.

The problem with that is his base running lately..his fielding and throws have improved alot..he isnt rushing it so much....

I'd rather be safe with not risking the chance of mistakes that will cost runs. The running mistakes are bad as well, I'm sure they have been addressed for the last and final time. At least it's not letting the other team score that's worse right now imo.

  11. At this point the Jays need to have Travis bat in the lineup but they can't afford to have him playing 2nd and making rookie mistakes. If they had a commanding lead, or were out of the playoffs then Travis could be playing 2nd and learning still, but these games are to important he needs to be DH only.

    DH Travis

    OF Bautista

    3B Donaldson

    1B Encarnacion

    SS Tulo

    C Martin

    OF Pillar

    OF Saunders/Upton

    2B Barney

This is the lineup they need to go with, this is their best lineup to win, and if they can't win with a lineup like that then they don't deserve it anyways.

  12. I'm starting to be skeptical with Donaldsons MRI he had yesterday. They obviously know the results by now, but nothing has been leaked, my gut says it's not good news and they don't know how to let the public know yet. Back of my mind, is hoping it's a game they're playing and before the game tonight they say he's good to go, but I don't know why they would do that especially the way they have been playing. I think Donaldson is trying to convince them to let him play, but they're not letting him or will let him, just doesn't look good for the Jays this last stretch.

  13. Although I do like SD more then Raw. I still believe that the best in the WWE right now is Kevin Owens. Haven't liked a guy like this since Stone Cold, I also mentioned on here a while ago I felt KO was the next Stone Cold, some were saying Ambrose. Ambrose is good and can lay a beat down, but he can't work the mic. KO on the other hand can lay a beat down, but most importantly can work the mic perfectly.

SD is more enjoyable than RAW. It just seems easier to watch. I PVR the shows weekly and watch em after or the next day so I can skip commercials. I've been watching a lot more SD than RAW. Been fast forwarding through a lot of RAW. So dull.

This went through my mind yesterday, I fast forward through all of Raw pretty much, and watch almost all of Smackdown.

When this draft first happened I was rooting for SD, but felt Raw stole the draft with all the talent, because of its 3 hours and of course being Raw. First few weeks I felt Raw was doing good actually, thought they were doing better then SD. Ever since though, SD has been putting on the better show.

The only negative I had from SD yesterday was, Daniel Brian and The Miz, Daniel is looking like a fool in promos with Miz not liking that. And the way Jack Swagger tried to be tough bad guy, but sucks on the mic.

The writing is on the wall, we go to rebuild mode with the hiring of Cherington today.

That means Gibbons is gone, Bautista is gone, Saunders is gone, Dickey is gone. I would be surprised to see EE re-sign unless he loves Toronto more than winning. There is probably no real untouchables on our team. Donaldson, Sanchez and Travis would be the only ones I'd keep if I was rebuilding.

Some one said it earlier, we've played .333 baseball in the last 12. Completely unacceptable for a "contending team". Stroman, Tulo and Martin could probably be had if we can get some young pieces. And although Tulo has a ntc, I bet he wants to go to a contender or back to Colorado.

The only way any of this changes is if we play 8-2 in the next 10 and the other teams(O's, BoSox and Yanks) all go 5-5 in the next 10. And unfortunately the way we are playing... I just can't see it happening. We now have to set up for when the O's are less slugging and the likes of Price, Porcello  and the other guys of Boston are in their twilight years. The Yanks will start their usual thing next offseason with paying to be good again. Texiera, A-Rod, Beltran and Sabathia being off the books in the next year or two will give them 100+ million in salary if they're willing to spend again.

Yeah that signing of Cherington is a sign of no playoffs for another 20+ years again. Just so damn frustrating to see this happen to a team that should of been poised to win a world series last year and this year. More frustrating to see Rogers force the Jays this year to cheap out and not spend a lot of money, when it's their time and only time, ridiculous.

Honestly I can't even think about the future of the Jays, because I dont care. I know after this year their chances are done, this was their year and it's been blown away by cheap @$$E$.

Why the F was Goins in today and not Barney? Why is Saunders batting 2nd when he has been struggling? Why not have Tulo bat 2nd since he has been on fire. Travis hurts the team defensively have him DH, put Goins at 2nd, Bautista can be in the outfield, sit Saunders play Carrera, or just sit Carrera and have him pinch hit. It's like this Gibbons doesn't want to win, or just shows how BAD he really is at managing a team, and knowing his players.
