  1. Yea definitely. I'm sure (or at least hoping) AA and the Jays are working on that. Seems the teams latest moves have been around moving on and life without Melky. I'm sure they'll use that money to sign a starter and a reliever or two.

I sure hope so... Because all these signings and trades, will not make any difference if they don't help their pitching as well. I have for the last 3-4 years said the team offensively is there, it's the pitching that costs this teams games.

I want a Halladay type starting pitcher, someone who is capable of going 8-9 innings if needed, and a closer like the famous Rivera. If they can find a way to do this, this team for the first time in years will be able to compete to make it into the playoffs, and possibly go deep in the playoffs.

  2. Blue Jays have also signed 1st Baseman Justin Smoak, who they did claim off waivers in October, and didn't sign last night to allow him to be a free agent, but have now signed him today.

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed first baseman Justin Smoak to a one-year, US$1-million contract, the team announced on Wednesday. The Blue Jays claimed Smoak, a switch-hitting first baseman, off of waivers in October, but non-tendered him on Tuesday, making him a free agent.

  3. I don't think anyone has since the Owen Hart incident, though I could be wrong. I'd like if Sting came in that classic way, but if it's legal troubles, or a genuine respect and safety concern thing that holds him back from doing so, I think that's okay. It's not like the WWF is one for respect, so it's likely the former.

Either way I thought that was cool. I almost watched Survivor Series just to see him, but opted to just watch a clip after the fact. It's enough to get me to watch a couple of Raw's before they frack it all up.

Yeah not sure since the Owen Hart incident, I'm sure it has something to do with safety reasons. Just would of been so epic when HHH was watching the entrance, and all of a sudden Sting comes down and lands right behind HHH.

  4. What I think will happen is, Lesner and Cena will have their match, but after it's over who ever wins, will end up losing the belt anyways because Rollins will use his money in the bank to steal the belt. Once that has happened then you will see Reigns have a match with Rollins for the belt, and Reigns will win, becoming the new face of the WWE.

  5. Undertaker WWE Return To Be Against Sting;

Get hyped WWE fans because the Sting WWE debut match has been allegedly confirmed along with Undertaker's WWE Return! Who would he face when he makes his first appearance on the WWE after his loss to Lesnar?

In a recent interview with the Miami Herald, Sting said that a match with Bray Wyatt is something he'd like to see himself and he even complimented the character of Bray Wyatt:

It has also been reported that the Sting WWE debut could be a set up for a feud vs the Undertaker that would culminate in a match at WrestleManina.

  6. AA and Gibbons have to go, this team will go no where with these 2.

Personally I didn't like Gibbons when he first coached the jays and failed, but to bring him back after he failed was just asking for failure.

Then you have AA who never played or knew the game of baseball growing up, and somehow he is running this team ridiculous. And to hear when your teams in a wild card race, upper management is saying to sit Cody Rasmus, so they can see there prospects play? I'm sorry, but that's just complete non sense and goes to show that the people running this team, have no clue on what they are doing, and don't have a will to win.

  7. John Cena and Randy Orton are apparently unhappy with recent episodes of Monday Night Raw. Join the club!

Raw hasn’t had an entertaining episode since before SummerSlam. Wrestling fans have had to deal with uninteresting and cringe worthy segments featuring the Bella Twins family drama, Adam Rose’s Bunny friend and the same old rematches week after week. Fans of wrestling often have to defend why they like a “fake sport.” The last four weeks of Raw have given me no moments I could show a non-fan and say, “See how awesome this can be?” In fact, if someone walked in the room, I’d probably change the channel over to Monday Night Football, and I’d probably be more entertained.

It’s no wonder two of the company’s top performers are annoyed with the current creative trends of the product. Orton hasn’t had character direction or development in months. His match at Night of Champions with Chris Jericho, while far surpassing expectations in terms of in-ring work, had almost no storyline heat behind it. Jericho made a snide comment, Orton attacked him backstage, then they had the match. Fans were given little reason to care, so when Orton won, it meant nothing.

According to the Daily Wrestling News, Orton is looking for some time off due to his frustration. This is a fantastic idea. His character is rather stale, and the moment and absence does make the heart grow fonder. Upon return, he could be a fresh babyface, upset with the Authority over never getting to invoke his rematch clause for the WWE title after losing at Wrestlemania 30. This sets up a championship match with Brock Lesnar. Doing this would also give fans a fresh main event that they haven’t seen before.

Cena, the company’s No. 1 man, may be unfulfilled as well. The build toward Lesnar/Cena at SummerSlam was well done. The build toward the Night of Champions rematch, however, left a lot to be desired. On one specific episode of Raw, Cena kidnapped Paul Heyman and held him hostage. This is how you book your top babyface? As a kidnapper? I’d be annoyed too if my mission was to send a positive message to kids and then they have me commit a felony on television.

Then there was Cena’s first appearance after the SummerSlam loss. He basically single-handedly destroyed the Wyatt Family because Vince McMahon wanted him to appear strong after a loss. Cena, sounding like he has a better mind for wrestling than “smart fans” want to give him credit for, hated this booking decision. He figured there were better ways to make him look strong than burying a young, up and coming stable. Well, we all know who got the last word. McMahon always gets his way.

When your top performers start showing frustration regarding the creative direction, it’s time to change something up. Raw has been almost unwatchable. Just because Monday Night Football is back doesn’t mean the WWE should throw in the towel. Dedicated fans still watch, and those are the last people you want to upset, because get this: they probably subscribe to the WWE Network. You want their $9.99, don’t you?

  8. I love it when people throw information like this around... At the time of the signing a lot of people were anticipating a deal somewhere in the $3.5 million range. It was also during the summer so there was stil plenty of time for them to settle on a new deal. Your information is wrong.

Shortly thereafter, the Canucks extended his contract with a four-year, $8 million deal on February 4, 2009,[34] quadrupling his $525,000 salary.[35] Following a game against the Edmonton Oilers on April 4

“If we’re going to win the Cup, we need guys to take pay cuts,” Kestler was quoted last week. “The way the salary cap is now, you really can’t get what you’re worth now if you want to win. Everybody in this locker-room knows that, and for us to be a great team going forward, we’re going to have to take a pay cut.”

The comments by Kestler and Burrows threw into focus the balancing act at play in the business of winning and the business of individual player salaries in the era of the salary cap.

Kestler’s remarks came two weeks after Burrows signed a four-year, $8 million contract to extend his career in Vancouver. Most analysts – including NHLPA executives and player agents – suggested Burrows left considerable money on the table by avoiding free agency, for which he would have been eligible July 1st, 2009.

Probably the biggest story of this season has been the outstanding play of Alex Burrows. He’s among the lowest paid players on the team and lately he’s been playing on the top line. He has become quite a versatile and important player. He kills penalities, he’s a bit of an agitator, he’s a great checker and also seems to be a killer clutch player.

It sounds like his new contract is a 4 year deal for $2 million per season. This is a big increase in salaray but probably not as much as he could have gotten on the open market as a free agent. It’s good to see that he’ll be able to keep playing with the team that gave him a chance coming out of the lowly East Coast Hockey League.

I can remember people saying he was worth way more, but he felt he was worth 2M and was happy playing for 2M, even though he was on the first line producing with the Sedins. At that time he was worth more, he was doing everything and I'm sure his agent said he could make much more on the open market, but he wanted to get it done before that and was happy with 2M.

  9. Umm, wat?

You're actually arguing that he took a pay cut because in his heart of hearts he knew he didn't deserve it? Wtf is this...?

He's not a greedy player like most athletes, if taking less money helps the team to get more valuable players he's the kind of guy who would do that, he has a good heart. Especially also being an undrafted player who didn't have an NHL career, I think he feels more than fortunate to be able to be playing in the NHL.

  10. Raw was just horrible on Monday, they had 3 separate diva matches in 1 night, 2 is normally the max, but 3 just goes to show they have nothing anymore.

What this company needs is competition again, because there is no competition they have nothing to worry about. and that's why we keep seeing the same old boring stuff all the time. With competition they will be forced to changed to become better, but until that happens things will just be the same from now on out.

  11. There was a reason why he took a pay cut in his last salary, because he knew he wasn't a top 6 forward for producing points, and didn't want to be labeled that from a contract point of view. But after the year he did have with the Sedins, it was kind of hard to not reward him with a good paying contract. It sucks because at 2-3M he is the best player to have, but at 4.5M unless he's producing points it's a waste of money.

  12. Found it interesting to see that Martina Hingis came out of retirement, and is now playing for the finals in women's doubles for the first time since 1998. I always thought she was one of the best and could of been even better, but injuries and drugs ruined it, but nice to see she's at the top again.
