  1. Do Boess and Petey have a bet that the first one to smile after scoring loses?
  2. " It's [Expletive] embarrassing. A team like that shouldn't be beating a team like ours 8-2, Doughty told reporters. There's absolutely no way." [source] Pouty Doughty whining is just the icing on the cake!
  3. Well that went even better than I hoped it would! Way to go, guys!
  4. Yes. They said they felt the fans deserved to see it at home so we will not have a captain until it's announced at the home opener.
  5. I don't think so at all. He's in his second year and still learning English. And that's in addition to the fact that he seems more like a private guy who doesn't enjoy dealing with the media. I don't think there's anything wrong with acknowledging that not every player is suited to be the captain. It's not an insult to Petey, it's recognition of who he is and an acknowledgement that he doesn't have to be the captain to be important to our team. Like any kind of leadership, the C is an honor to those who want it but a weighty burden to those who don't. We don't need to weigh our players down just to force a narrative some fans want.
  6. Petey neither wants nor needs the pressure and distraction of wearing the C. It has to be Bo. He wants it. He's been campaigning for it since before Hank left (in a good way.) He's done everything the team has asked him to. He's always there to talk to the media. He's been clear about wanting it. He's the obvious and right choice and I think the guys will happily support his captaincy.
  7. I actually do. He wasn't even the biggest Canucks fan but he stopped watching NHL hockey all together after the Boston series. Said he just couldn't stomach a sport that was so clearly biased. Some days I get it...
  8. Remember when the NHL at least pretended they were tough on dirty hits in the pre-season? Guess they can't even be bothered with the pretense anymore.
  9. Would definitely love to see Bieksa. I always thought he'd be great in the media after his playing career was over (as it apparently is.)
  10. That's too bad for him. But good for him for finding a job that lets him stay in the sport he loves. Best of luck to him!
  11. I'm guessing they didn't pick the game against the Canucks because they didn't want the focus to be on his time with another team but rather his time with the Cats. Also, they might be assuming that Canucks will do their own tribute to the best goalie in our franchise history too at some point.
  12. Thanks for the memories, Luo! Enjoy your retirement. I look forward to seeing you inducted into the HHoF.
  13. Woohoo, Petey! Way to be the first "Canoock" to win the Calder.
  14. Very sad news. He was absolutely hilarious.
  15. I don't have the warm and fuzzy feeling for Kes like I do other former Canucks from that era (like Burr and Luo, even Raymond and Lappy) but I don't wish him ill either. He was a great player for us for years. He moved on. The fans here should do their best to move on too. I'm just sad that, like Bieksa, he's having trouble accepting the end of his playing career. I hope he recovers from this surgery and finds a way to move into the next chapter of his life.
  16. Sad news. I will always remember the Honey Badger fondly. Best wishes in whatever comes next for you, Jannik!
