  1. Jake is becoming an NHL player in front of us.... good to see!
  2. you guys and the talk about "ego". really really poor english skills here lol! this might help: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id,_ego_and_super-ego or maybe you mean "devloping a habit"? That would make more sense...
  3. who cares? fishing violation? compared to drinking and driving, or killing someone behind the wheel (for which professional athletes have been forgiven btw)... really an unfortunate event - nobody really wants to fish endangered species - usually perpetrators are just ignorant of the rules and violate them. Never automatically assign malice to a situation that can easily be explained by incompetence peace
  4. he looks awesome in those highlights. Hopefully he can bring some of that this year or next!
  5. So jake is playing roller hockey this summer?
  6. I was trying to be funny... I'll assume I failed!
  7. Chaput and Megna say hello... and dash the chances of Virtanen and Goldy.... muhahaha. We will build an evil empire, errr... team... to crush the hopes of childish vancouver fans looking for entertainment
  8. No I think a lot of teams give players opportunity based on their future role....
  9. Well.... if Goldobin doesn't get a chance this year when he shows promise - this team is an utter joke. The MO of the team has been to play grinders ahead of players who have talent, cause they need to learn how to play on the 4th line before they can earn a spot up the lineup. Even when the player out-performs the existing plugs that have been signed (we have an overwhelming glut of middling talent - so many of these low-end players with one-way contracts that it is hard to see how it is actually going to work). - think Stetcher last year - if the injury to Tanev didn't happen we would never have seen him. The only players who have made it were 2-way players. So unless we ONLY want a team of 2-way players, this approach doesn't work! The team has a backwards approach to competition imho. When you hire someone - or sign them - you actually have to give them a chance. And especially when they show talent - you don't put them in a menial task as a reward - or put them back to the minors. Score a goal (Goldobin) and get benched - cause that is the "plan". Supposedly this year it will be "different" with the same people in charge, so we will see... I honestly hope it will be. I just don't get the plan... sign a bunch of players who aren't that great (Chaput, Megna) but who will always be better at a 2-way game than a young player who is just starting out - and let the Chaputs and Megnas win the spots on the team because of it - year after year after year.... Question: If Virtanen, Juolevi, Dahlen, and Goldobin all show they actually deserve to be in the league this year, can it actually happen? The answer is no. The team would never do it. Contract status trumps development in this organization ... SO FAR! I'd love to be proved wrong this year. Maybe old dogs can learn new tricks... peace. sorry for the rant, am a bit negative - I think / hope it is temporary!
  10. Actually you said that you were talking about knowing what the other person is doing and will do without looking at them. which is logically absurd, especially the "will do" part... sounds like magic to me . like it or not pal, words get in the way sometimes.... try not to get hung up on interpretations... I'm not going to sink to your level to reply in kind however, even though that is what you really want? Let me know and I'll try to be creative with some insults. we could have an insult battle perhaps? 3 posts each? Winner by poll in a new post? Anyways, try reading some psychology, it might make your life better. And thanks for insulting me, it was quite fun! I expect a bunch more insults - but please try to be a bit more creative, it would be more entertaining. I'm sure it has something to do with your argument, but I'm not sure which part. peace
  11. You don't know what you mean to say. "knowing how the other player thinks the play." is chemistry - broken down into a logic that is quantifiable. knowing EXACTLY what the other player is doing and where he's going is actually impossible - if you think about it. How do you even know what you are going to say minute to minute when you are in a conversation (do you think all your words and rationalize them before you speak, or is it stream of consciousness??? hmm... I wonder...) LET ALONE a complex sport with complex Interaction like hockey. 1. You failed to understand what I was trying to say. 2. You think chemistry is magic - and think there is more going on than just logic. so please let me know what you think chemistry is, besides some impossible ridiculous childish magical belief that people can know EXACTLY what someone else is doing and is going to be doing without looking at them (although looking at them shouldn't really help, if you think about it.... lol) chemistry is processing the play and thinking where the other player should be if they think like you - or react like you without thinking (through repetition, practice, etc). There is no magic. peace
  12. lol really? if they play together you don't think there can be set plays and habits and instincts? If player A knows there is open ice at position 1, he assumes player B knows that too... he doesn't have to look. As long as player B has "chemistry" which is effectively knowing how the other player thinks the play. "looking" has nothing to do with it. The Sedins would have been superstars on different teams too.... Or. if you don't agree... please qualify what exactly is "chemistry" then?
  13. if it goes: 1. Patrick 2. Hischier 3. Vilardi 4. Glass then I'll bet we take a D
  14. Linden is right. the key word is "could". it isn't likely, but it could happen
  15. karma-centric thought: He started strong, then hit a wall. then got discouraged. then learned to play defense. now he is getting another shot. seems like a cycle has happened, let's see if he can take the next step into a new cycle or if he still needs time on the old one.
  16. ok you're right, I stand corrected! thanks!
  17. No need to rush him, I'd like to see him developed properly. Junior? Sure another year if that's the best place for him. Is he AHL eligible next year? That might be better? Real concern? I'm worried he will be rushed in order to show progress and sell tickets.... we don't have a great track record in this regard, and our GMs always seem to need to show this progress in concern for their jobs. Hope that has changed with the rebuild admission... we will see!!! I am skeptical and expect him to make the team next year and have a trial by fire. Hopefully Green can shield his minutes and help him - he is a first year contract coach so that is a good contributing factor...
  18. Jake was picked for need, not best player available. We weren't rebuilding when he was picked, we were making the playoffs. It was a risk to take a power forward. Most of those players end up on the 3rd or 4th line, so that's what it looks we have.
  19. I think the knock on Jake was he had (has) a low hockey IQ..... DQIQ I'm sure he is fine... point being he has a better chance to be a 3rd or 4th line player right now than anything else.... and that was also true when we picked him. Let him make the team that way, and then we'll see.... low hockey IQ usually means he doesn't process the play fast enough, doesn't get to the right place at the right time, etc.... he was a risky pick imho, and could still turn into a top 6 player if he develops - which happens sometimes, but this is the year to make or break the NHL .. more likely he is 3rd line material where he can play against 3rd string players and succeed... prove me wrong and I'll be ecstatic! But let's be realistic... he isn't doing that great and there is a reason for it.
  20. you guys: it was NEVER going to be nylander or ehlers... BOSTON model - ie. get big and good
  21. btw: if we got every bc born player the last 20 years we would have won a cup or 2 by now...
  22. lucic was drafted in the 2nd round. this kid could be a great player - give him a chance. no other pick at this level has much more of a chance of success - roll the dice and hope he works out! he could be awesome!
  23. shoot first winger.... sounds good. good shot aparently. won't play this coming year, but good for the future - we hope!
  24. amazing - you mean expensive mediocrity isn't going to be the norm anymore? not his fault - the concussion basically took him from a top 6 forward to a bottom 6... MG always took a chance, and too bad it didn't work out
  25. This team needs a #1 D more than a forward. Look at Detroit - they were dominant while Lidstrom was there. Not that he's gone... not so much. Ekblad - if he is that player - is who I think the team should target. And since nobody knows, it is worth the risk. Not a short-term fix, but if it works... from what I recall, every #1 pick for years has been on forwards... and not much has amounted from these picks by and large. not yet anyways. worth the risk
