  1. Colorado Playoff Roster

Here's our playoff roster assuming that we make it with Iafallo added to our roster for the remainder of the regular season. Definitely a weaker group than past years but we'll look to retool in the offseason and to put ourselves in a position to contend again.

Jordan Greenway - Leon Draisaitl - David Pastrnak

Artturi Lehkonen - Anthony Cirelli - Tyler Bozak

    Mitchell Stephens

    Josh Morrissey - Alex Pietrangelo

    Torey Krug - Jared Spurgeon

    Neal Pionk - Dante Fabbro

    Haydn Fleury

Tough to make this trade but with the expansion draft coming up and several big contracts expiring this year, it seemed smart to get something back for our assets.

The Demko demand was insanely high the last few months and adding a top young asset who is expansion exempt was key. Hughes doesn't need a new contract until next season and Klingberg would have either been lost in the expansion draft or a cap casualty. Koskinen is no number 1 in real life but he's a decent backup goalie who can put together a couple wins here and there. The draft picks aren't anything special but we've been able to pick up some decent players in the later rounds in the last few drafts so we're confident that we can turn them into something good. This also frees up a bit cap space for us next season with Demko needing a new contract.

We debating loading up for the playoffs for a long time but with several of our key players either injured, out of a playoff spot, or underperforming this year, we'd have to do a massive overhaul in order to keep up with the big guns. We just didn't have the time to put together so many trades as work has been busy. Didn't think of moving 12 guys out in one trade...<_< I'm still very happy with where the team is at and the boys are young enough for us to make a run next year.

Time to see how far Mackinnon and Landeskog can carry us this year!

  3. Vancouver is looking to move into the low 60s to high 70s range in the draft, pending the player we want being available. I have picks 91, 100, 132, and 155 to trade.

Also interested in moving a forward for a dman under 28. Gaudreau and Schmaltz are two candidates that are available along with most of my prospects.

PM myself and @maroe if you're interested!

  4. Pleased to finally make it out of the first round after 4 straight years of first round exits. All it took was moving the entire franchise from Pittsburgh to Vancouver and a big roster shake up. Looks like this team would have beaten anyone in the first round so I hope we can keep up the momentum. The real life Canucks coming through was huge for us!

    Round two roster:

Gabriel Landeskog - Nathan MacKinnon - JT Miller
Alex Killorn - Charlie Coyle - Jake DeBrusk

    Nick Cousins - Adam Gaudette

    Shea Theodore - John Klingberg

    Conor Timmins

    Thatcher Demko

think this is how Round 1 ends. Toronto may have squeaked out a 1 point win with a plus minus point from Jordie Benn. Will need to be confirmed tomorrow morning when things are ran through properly.

Congrats @Primal Optimist! We were banking on our top guys to carry us through the later rounds in the playoffs but didn’t have enough depth to make it out of the first.

Hope Vancouver goes all the way in real life and in this league

@Watermelons & Piitsburgh Vancouver team of the last two months.  Killing it! Some good play off assets as well, particularly if the Jets & their goalie get in?

We are 2knd to Vancouver the last 60 days. Still barely making up ground on Florida @inane, distance Detroit @Salter

Salter & Watermelons occupying my thought  for vote in GM of the year.

Thanks! Work has been crazy this past month so I’ve only kept light tabs on my team but it seems like no matter how many points I get I still can’t make ground on @JE14 and his Hurricanes...

  7. Vancouver Canucks Mid-Season Update

It's been an exciting year for the franchise in it's first year since the move to the Pacific Division. Long gone are the days of seeing the Blue Jackets, Rangers, and Flyers creeping up on me in the standings  The team hasn't been fully healthy yet at any point in the season so fingers crossed for a speedy recovery to the boys so we can catch catch LA for first in the Pacific.

    The good

-Nathan MacKinnon - Most exciting player in the NHL, if you ask me, and he hasn't disappointed this year. Despite injuries to his real life linemates, he's still chugging along at an elite pace and 3rd in the NHL in points.

-JT Miller - I've followed this guy since he was drafted and was ecstatic when he got traded to Vancouver. Him becoming a staple on the Canucks' top line in real life is just the cherry on the top.

-Connor Hellebuyck - I was slightly worried when I gave up a the 11th overall pick to acquire him in the summer but he's far exceeded my expectations. Hellebuyck is doing everything he can to drag the real-life Jets into the playoffs and has brought stability to my team's goaltending position for the first time in 3 seasons.

    The bad

-John Klingberg - I brought him in over the summer to lead the team's defence but his slow start hasn't helped. Hopefully his last two weeks are an indication of things to come.

-Johnny Gaudreau - From almost cracking 100 points last year and 5.8fp/g to 21 points in 29 games and 2.9 fp/g, he's definitely been the weakest link on the Canucks. Not ready to give up on him yet but my patience is starting to run thin...

    Landeskog - MacKinnon - Miller

    Gaudreau - Schmaltz - Killorn

    Kreider- Coyle - Gaudette

    Garland - Iafallo- Barbashev

    Wennberg, Cousins

    Nurse - Klingberg

    Theodore - Werenski

    Kulak - Kukan

So if I signed Anders Lee as a free agent in July I could have traded him for Chabot three months later?

Don't want to beat a dead horse on the sign and trades discussion but it's ridiculous to see this be an ongoing issue, for high profile players nonetheless. I know that Pittsburgh changed GMs but that's not really an excuse when the guy who signed Lee is still part of management.

@Salter @Jaku could I please waive Taylor Chorney for assignment to the minors?

Could this please be processed/Chorney placed on waivers if he hasn't been already?

On another note, to answer Salter's question above - I'm super happy to see Timmins back in action after a one-year hiatus
