  1. Jim should offer sheet Seth Jones a lot of money so CBJ can't sign him. Or Jacob Trouba.

    Olli Juolevi-Seth Jones

    Or

    Olli JuoleviJuolevi-Jacob Trouba

Those would be the best pairing in the NHL

No don't actually offersheet. Just threaten to make an offer like for Subban and Stamkos and get docked for draft picks and fines.

I would like Trouba just because he adds a physical RHD that the Canucks don't have other than Gudbranson.

      Don't see it happening though.

      We'd have to offer sheet Jones @ 7 years/65.72 Million (9.388 million/year)

Same money (bit higher) as PK Subban, 6 years younger and will be the same level of impact player.

That RFA offer sheet would cost the canucks their 2017, 2018 1st round picks and their 2017 second round and third round picks.

The money is high enough to really push Columbus into a corner. Even with buying out Clarkson and Hartnell, they only save half the cap hit of Jones contract if he were to sign. That would eat up all of their already remaining cap space, and they would STILL need to create more cap room.

Pawning off Hartnell and still buying out Clarkson would net them about 2 million more which would JUST cover what the cap hit would be for Jones, and would still need to add two forwards to make a 20 man roster.

GMs knowing Kek is entirely over a barrel would extort him so badly trying to dump contracts.

Canucks end up with a D-Core of:

      Edler-Tanev
      Hutton-Jones
      Sbisa-Gudbranson

Once Juolevi is ready for the big club, he replaces Edler after he's taken during the expansion draft.

@shadowgoon Unfourtunately that plan doesn't work because Edler has a no trade clause, likes Vancouver, and doesn't want to go anywhere else at this point in the foreseeable future.

Plus by rule you MUST protect players with NTC or NMC since exposing them would be a violation of contract terms.

Sbisa should be exposed to be picked off if he can't be traded before next summer.
