F on his report card. Only reason he's not the worst GM I've ever seen is because Mike Millbury exists. Anyone can draft good players in the first round if you have a trash team every year and high draft picks. Benning never had a realistic plan he stuck to. He should have rebuilt from the start. He never did, he's traded more draft picks away than he's brought in. Let players age out and lose value and leave for nothing when he should have been getting prospects and picks. Instead he went for it with the Sedins and failed horribly. Then tried to maintain a competitive team and traded assets away to have a winning culture, and failed horribly. Then he predicted 2 years ago that the team will be a Stanley Cup contender by 2021 and is failing horribly. He's spent to the cap the whole time and has given up as many NTC as Gillis except while he's accomplished nothing. He's now left the prospect cupboard pretty bare while accomplishing nothing. The salary cap situation is no not good and about to get really bad in 2 years. OEL, Myers & Poolman are aging and by the time this team might be competitive it'll be like having 3 Louie Ericksons at once. He's fired quality people and is just surrounded by yes men. The defense core is still trash after all these years. Got rid of Tanev for no reason, and he'd still be the best defensive defenseman on the team. Got rid of Toffoli after giving up assets to get him, in order to keep Virtanen lol. My god. And it's been shown on CDC if you just followed a hockey magazine draft rankings you'd end up with just as good a core as Benning got with his top 10 picks. When Green gets fired he'll get another head coaching job. Benning will never be a GM again.

It often felt that on CDC there were like 3 people that saw Benning/management for what it is for years on end. I had so many battles with that dude.

They're preparing Demko for what he faces every night.

The longer this has gone on, the more obvious it is that Benning is Aqua's lapdog. Only reason he still has a job after 8 years of awful. I always wanted Benning to get fired but I don't think it'll make any difference. Aqua is the GM and he's trash. This team is going nowhere unless someone with a backbone gets hired.

Crazy things happen when you trade for draft picks in a rebuild.

How you gonna look at the last 7 years and say how is a continuation of the last 7 years possible.

You know they practice and play games in preseason too right? And that there's history of players struggling if they miss preseason. Not everyone can be Nikita Kucherov.

Missing training camp is a killer. I said it in preseason and got roasted on here.

Except both Holtby and OEL were straight up bad for 2 seasons before they got to Van.

At least all we gave up to ice this amazing lineup is 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, 2 third round picks (in the last 3 years) and any future cap flexibility.

The only thing this team has been good at, at any point under Benning is goaltending and the power play. It has never been good at 5 on 5, it has never been good defensively. As far us trading prospects and draft picks, benning's record has been so so. The problem is when those draft picks and prospects got traded. A lot of it took place when the team should have been rebuilding instead of going for the playoffs. That's why Vancouver has had to spend more draft picks and more salary cap for the bums we've had playing in our bottom 6 and on defense. Spin it how you want. The fact is under betting the Canucks have been one of the worst teams in the league. And they continue to be one of the worst teams in the league.
