  1. So, Toronto media has found a trade for the Leafs to win the Cup next year...LOL

Vancouver Canucks get: William Nylander, Timothy Liljegren
Toronto Maple Leafs get: J.T. Miller
Chicago Blackhawks get: Matt Murray, 2023 Canucks 4th, 2024 Leafs 4th

It’s a good deal for us providing we move Nylander immediately for a younger centre.

      chon derry

@Alflives I’m surprised you’d say that. Nylander would garner similar money. He fits the nux timeline better. He might play better in the western conference. Neither player are favs of mine but I wouldn’t hate the move. Watching pettersons interview talking about miller it left me questioning if he even liked miller. Of the 2 , stork boy might be the better fit

For that contract plus modified NTC, 3rd and 4th round picks are not enough. Maybe if we are playing fantasy hockey.

  2. Anyone else think the Canucks would still be dead last on the PK even if the league took pity on us and made all Canucks' minor penalties 30 seconds? <sigh>

Considering that's not an option, no, I never thought of that.

There’s no need to provide the opposition any more incentive to break the fastest multi goal PP

  3. Tanev was playing with a separated shoulder, a torn labrum and a sprained neck.....what a warrior.

LMFAO - "this forum hated Tanev".  Exaggerate much?  He may have been under appreciated, but there was no universal hate for Tanev.  Quite the opposite...every time I wrote something remotely uncomplimentary about Tanev, I heard it from Tanev's army.  I miss Tanev.  I wish he was a Canuck still.

Was always a fan of his...most here were and didn't want him to walk away. Sure, there were concerns about his age and injury history but he was solid and most here knew what we were losing. Especially in relation to playing with Quinn.

    4. NucknAsia

      NucknAsia

Warrior for sure but it also highlights why we let him go. It sounds great and fans love to hear how much these guys fight through, but clearly a player that hurt is playing around 50%...

Love Tanev but he is oft injured for some reason and you want players in the lineup who are healthy because that gives you the best chance to win.

I've had 2 of those injuries at the same time (Labrum and separated shoulder). I was a good athlete in my day. There's no way you can be effective with such injuries even at a junior level, let alone pro.

  4. Pettersson added to covid protocol list.

Could've used more games to gain momentum with Pod and Garland, but it's what it is.

      Hope he recovers quickly.

  5. Big weekend for the grandson's hockey team. Vancouver Academy U17 teams coming here for four league games. Play Troy Stecher's nephew's team (Langley Sharpshooters) early Saturday morning. We are putting our 4-0 record on the line this weekend and grandpa can't wait.

    4. Rick Blight

      Rick Blight

      He is a d-man. 16 yrs old and 6"2" and 182 lbs. His D partner is 6"5:...

They beat Fraser Valley Aces 8-3 tonight....now 5-0 for their season.

  6. Nice to see Brendan Burke, ex Utica play by play guy, doing the NBC broadcast for the Tampa/Carolina series. He iis pretty damn good.

    1. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

He's verrrrry good! From the 1st listen, knew this guy was the real deal.

Now for the love of all that's Holee..let's find him an entertaining(Larscheid, Harry Neale-type) side-man; for excellence in broadcasting.

I like him, but I can't hear that name without feeling for Burkie.

  7. NHL fires Tim Peel...yay!

Should also be firing Sutherland for not coming forward.

  9. Congratulations to my grandson and his team for making the finals at the Salmon Arm Bantam AA tournament this weekend. There were ten teams from all over B.C and 2 from Calgary. Great hockey and many thanks to Salmon Arm for hosting such a great tournament.

  10. Okay, I want to know who the real hockey experts are. Those that predicted Edler and Sutter would be leading the team in goals after 3 games, please raise your hand. This season may be looked backed upon as "The Year of the Whipping Boy"!

yup Gaz  thats what i was hoping for.

Man tho if you're Loui E it sure looks like there's no spot barring injuries. Even Schaller has picked it up.

    3. #Canucks

      #Canucks

I don’t hate Sutter or Dislike him as a hockey player. But I would rather try and trade him before his next injury. He looks good but with that contract is it worth the risk given the past couple years? Maybe I guess.

    4. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

Could deal him & another depth fwd for 2 mid picks. The 2021 pick ranges  #2-4 round, pending on their games played. Such a deal is not so complicated, & fair to both sides.

Just need a Suitor(pardon pun) beset by a spate of injuries.

  11. Calgary leads Edmonton 2 - 0 on goals by Rieder and Lucic. You just have to laugh. Edmonton fans will be beside themselves. Ha, ha :emot-parrot:

Wasn't Rieder the guy that couldn't get any goals last season?

    4. Rick Blight

      Rick Blight

Yup, zero goals and Chiarelli singled him out as the reason Oilers didn't make the playoffs. Really threw him under the bus.

  12. Justin Williams even at 37 is still a great playoff performer. Man, does he come through in clutch situations.

He played great.  And Ovi proved he’s a punk with zero class.  I wish he never won a Cup cause it looks like it went right to his head...

Should've gotten suspended for almost taking out the eye of Saku (still ended up removing the heart & soul of the Habs lettting the Canes win that series and later on the playoff run, their Cup).

    4. -AJ-

      -AJ-

He's still great in the regular season too. Will end up with some really impressive career numbers if he can keep up this level in his twilight years.

  13. Man, MacKinnon must have the most cap friendly contract in the NHL.The guy is just a beast against Calgary in this series and he only makes half of McDavid's salary for the next 4 years.

    1. Master 112

      Master 112

pssh only half? how does he meet the nutritive demands of being a professional hockey player eating no name?

    2. King Heffy

      King Heffy

I'd take him over MacDavid at the same salary.  I don't know how it's possible for someone with the success he's had to be underrated, but he is.

  14. Columbus goes "all in" at the TDL and now it looks like they may miss playoffs. Who is going to pay the price if that happens? Has Torts passed his "best before date"? Are Koko and Davidson in peril?

Letting Panarin and BOB walk for nothing in a year where they miss the playoffs will be a hard, if not impossible, sell to their fans.

The last of a dying breed? Torts teams get a surge upwards, then it appears a long decline. It likely reminds hockey followers of the Keenan-curve.

As the players gain more cash & clout, & youth is increasingly required, not sure we'll see these types of coaches in the bigs, much longer.

      I find it hilarious.

Especially how agitated Torts is about it hahahaha.

  15. Some pretty damning comments about Erik Karlsson on TSN's That's Hockey. Teammates saying it was like they were under a dictator last year and this year more of a democracy. Also, players indicated they should have practiced more last year but EK doesn't like to practice so they didn't.

I'm skeptical of anything coming from Ottawa or TSN tbh. Not a good look for any of the parties involved though.
