Well I can tell you this, before Toc arrived Petey was outhitting Boeser and Horvat per 60 played. After Toc Boeser was outhitting Petey. Although neither is overly physical. Garland isn't a big hitter but I wouldn't say he's not tough. He's tough along the boards and goes to the dirty areas. He's pretty aggressive and fearless. Kuzmenko apparently doesn't know how to hit with a whopping 0.29 hits per 60 minutes after Toc arrived. Among forwards Kuz was 19th right behind Garland at 18th with 2.50 hits per 60.

I coulkd have told who the most physical were without that report.

Sure, according to that report Burroughs is our best d-man and Joshua is better than Miller. .

FINAL Canucks "Top DAWG" Report under Tocchet - Just released.
Baggins replied to RU SERIOUS's topic in Canucks Talk
Kuzmenko wasn't much above Boeser. The top d-men were Burroughs, Schenn, Juulsen and Bear, while Hughes was just above Wolanin and Rathbone. Garland ranked higher than Hughes. Not sure what that says about the formula in regards to quality of player. -
To the rink?

If he gets to that 30 goals, becoming the player hoped for, why would you want to move him at that point? He'd be worth his contract if he does that and we'd likely have moved a different forward this offseason for cap space (Beauvillier or Garland). The only reason to move Boeser at that point would be a prospect, cheaper option, actually showing that skill in the NHL as a replacement. Otherwise you're just moving backwards.

[Report] Michael Bunting suspended 3 games
Baggins replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
The homers would be. But if Cernak was a Canuck they'd also be up in arms. That's how it works here. That said, anybody that thinks that play wasn't interference along with illegal head contact, well.... -
Meaningless to the difference in team makeup. Last year Seattle was the 3rd worst team in the league. This year the took the 1st wild card spot. A few smart moves that built on what they had. Again, Detroit is rebuilding, we are building. Detroit needs talent to build around, we have the talent to build around. Therein lies the real difference.

Luck of the draft. There was dead silence at the Rogers draft party when Pettersson was drafted. Who? If you recall fans were hyped about drafting Glass with Vilardi as the very popular 2nd choice. Pettersson was never mentioned. Was it a good thing we dropped 3 spots in that draft. The scouts got one right. We're not doing the same things Detroit is doing because they are rebuilding and we are building. They are trading for futures, we're trading to imrpove now (Bear, Hronek). How many years of Petey, Hughes, and Demko do you want to waste crossing your fingers and hoping draft picks pan out? The Sedins had a small window to compete because it took too long to build the team around them. Toews and Kane had a big window to compete because they came at the end of Chicago's rebuild and a lot was in place already. But picks don't come with guarantees. Chicago took Skille 7th and Barker 3rd just before getting Toews and Kane. Toews and Barker were both 3rd overall picks. You never truly know unitl they reach the NHL. But the faster you build around your young stars the bigger the window they get. You can't simply sit back and depend entirely on draft picks panning out. In the final two weeks Chicago beat Pittsburgh and Calgary, plus an OT loss to Philly. Omg, 5 points! What were they thinking?

Are you daft? I fully understand the importance of drafting. That's entirely on the scouting department. You absolutely need to score hits regardless of draft position or round. I'm not stupid enough to believe they'll all be stars though like you. A bust can be picked virtually anywhere in the draft. But you never try to lose. I'll never whine incessantly like a toddler because my team wins games. We weren't finishing bottom 3 without moving far more out than just Horvat and Schenn. We finished 3rd worst and picked 5th. We finished 2nd worst and picked 5th. At 6th, when Toch took over, the odds were much higher of dropping again rather than moving up. So no I just don't fret like a baby over it. We still drafted Pettersson and Hughes. Always try to win. How childish is it? All year - Deep draft! Deep draft! Oh no we dropped to 11th we won't get a good player! Toddlers. If our scouts have done their job we should still get a good player at 11th. It's a "deep draft" after all. -

Then quit whining about an 11th overall. I hate the loser mentality. I'm not enamored about the draft at all. Some pan out, some don't. That's the reality. I don't get overly excited about who is selected or make wild predictions about what they will become. I just wait and see how they play in the NHL. I don't see picks as the magic beans you guys do. They don't always lead to the golden goose. No matter where you are drafting you need to score some hits. But even drafting high you'll have misses. I just believe in playing as best you can and let the magic beans fall where they may. If they aren't playing to win they shouldn't be on the team. Same goes for the coaches. -

What a simple minded statement. How often is the a player better than those drafted above him? If you did a re-draft from drafts 5+ years ago would the actual order remain the same in the top 20? Never. The truth is it's a crap shoot. I simply don't have the loser mentality. You always play to win. If you can't get a good player at 11 why do you guys whine so much about trading a 2nd rounder? It's crybaby loser nonsense because it's just crossing your fingers and hoping your magic beans.become something. Even top 5 players don't turn out to be much. Which is why I just don't worry about it. Your ride is waiting... -

Baggins replied to Provost's topic in Canucks Talk
I think it should be relatively even odds among the bottom 8 at getting first and second overall and slimmer odds for 9 through 16 to move up a maximum of eight spots. Once one and two are determined the reamining of the bottom eight teams draft order is determined on even odds. That way you could finish last and possibly pick 9th. You could finish 8th and have nearly as good odds of picking first. It would kill the incentive to be worst in the league. -

How about Chicago taking Skille 7th and Barker 3rd before getting Toews 3rd and Kane 1st.

What were the Sens thinking winning an utterly pointless game?

John Garrett to retire after this season

As much as I'd love Bieksa to take over, you're right. It's more likely a former player that's an empty nester. Kids all grown up and has time on his hands now.
