Canucks to celebrate Pride Night on Friday vs. Flames
Baggins replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Still got it wrong. I said they are saying the right thing but not putting on the jersey to show it. If putting on a jersey to show you support inclussion is a against your religion how can you say out aloud you 100% support inclussion? Talkin' the talk, but not walkin' the walk. It's a contradiction. Why would I feel sympathy for them? They can believe whatever they want. But if you're going to talk the talk, walk the walk. -

Some are insane. Like those who murder others and say, ""god told me to". Most just have this need to believe in something, a need to belong to something, or both. People believed just as fervently in the various pantheons of gods previously. Greek gods, Norse gods, Egyptian gods, there was even a pantheon of gods in the middle east. Pretty much every culture has their share of gods in some form. They're now referred to as "mythology". Personally I think we created gods to explain what we couldn't explain. Somewhere along the line somebody with the charisma and /or power came along saying, "oh no no, there's only one god. All those other gods don't exist". Then managed to convince (or force) people to change their beliefs. A single god is a much better system for control rather than all those willie nillie gods for all different aspects to choose from. Personally I think many people simply need something to believe in for whatever reason. if you want to call that insane, brainwashed or delussional that's up to you. Suffice it to say I was raised in that church and chose to go my own way as early as I possible could. -

What's to respond to? What do want me to say, "God told to getaway from it because he doesn't exist"? -
I predict a few familiar faces gone and some new faces in the lineup.

I was raised penticostal and stopped going at 15 when my mother said "you're old enough to decide". Don't think much of religion as a whole, christian or otherwise. if it gets you through your day more power to you. Don't push it on me though. I'm open to criticism. Give an example of my hypocracy. I can tell you this though, if I give lip service that I support fully something I'm also fully willing to walk the walk to show it. -

Nope, not at all. They're just hypocrites. But attempting to take away rights or pass laws based purely on religious belief is forcing your religion on others. Having students say the lords prayer in the morning at school is forcing your religion on others. Christians were up in arms when that was discontinued. But not all the students are Christians are they. Thus it's pushing the religion on non-christians. But if you said alright we'll do the lords prayer on monday, a jewish prayer on tuesday, a muslim prayer on wednesday, etc I'd put money on Christians being up in arms that other religions are being pushed on their children. Religion belongs in church as far as I'm concerned. I'm a firm believer in the separation of church and state. It's the idea - We don't believe in abortion so nobody can have one - or - We don't believe in gay marriage so they can't marry like us. That's trying to force your religious beliefs on others. Don't believe in abortion? Don't get one. Problem solved. Don't believe in gay marriage? Don't marry somebody of the same sex. Problem solved. Somebody else not believing in those things has no effect on you or your beliefs. But here's the hypocracy I mentioned regarding the rainbow jerseys. Each that has declined to wear it for religious beliefs have issued statements they believe everybody is welcome and they 100% support inclussion in hockey for everybody. Well that's exactly what the jersey represents and what the "special night" is about. It's not endorsing the lifestyle, it's simply showing they are welcome here. So these players are talkin' the talk, but not walkin' the walk. If saying you support their inclussion isn't against your religion then wearing the jersey that shows you support inclussion can't be either. The Russians are a different kettle of fish entirely. With Putin's recent law changes players could well have concerns for their safety returning to Russia or for their family living there. -

I'm with you. Simply put in the words of Jesus... "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Regardless of your own beliefs it cost you nothing to treat others with dignity and respect. In a country with freedom of religion it also means freedom from religion. Believe what you want, but don't force your beliefs on others. If you believe in freedom of religion you must also accept, and respect, others believing differently. It really isn't that difficult. Personally I think politicians love that we're "politically focused" on this kind of nonsense rather than policies that actually effect our quality of life. All the Canucks and NHL are doing with these "special nights" is saying to minority groups "you are welcome here". Oh my god, the horror!!! -
Miller for everything? Edit: Actually that's exactly how I voted.

At least Gudbranson was moved for Pearson and didn't need to bought out like Ballard.

Players rarely wait until they're 100% to return. Tocc said Hronek felt it was important to show fans what they traded for. He also said Hronek could have played out the season. My guess, Hronek was fully aware of "too expensive", "not worth it", and "damaged goods" blah, blah, blah online nonsense. Well he showed what he can do at less than 100%. Now he can get ready for next season. Mission accomplished. Sadly the "damaged goods" and "he'll never be the same" whining will likely go on thoughout the summer anyway. You know, because players never come back from shoulder injuries that don't even require surgery. *cough* Burroughs *cough*

How could he not? There's been plenty of vitriol here. Personally I think it's a exaggerated nonsense. But what's on this board is nothing compared to social media. -
You forgot Ballard...

So if there's 64 top pairing D 29th is in the top half of the league. But lets look at RHD... So there's 32 top RHD and he sits 14th....

God I love hyperbowl... Kuzmenko's contract expires in 2025 (Closer to the middle of this century). Well duh, that's how time works. Each passing year is closer to the middle of the century. Every contract running past this season expires "closer to the middle of this century". That doesn't mean they actually expire close to the middle of the century. Pushing senior citizen... hyperbowl. -

Miller is a very good playmaker. Playmaking ability doesn't tend to decline at the same rate as goal scoring. Given his style of play he will make those around him better for years to come. My money would be on Miller being a better, more effective, player at 36 than Horvat at 34. Since the 19/20 season, when he arrived, up to now Miller is 5th the league among all centers in assists behind McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, and Huberdeau. Miller has said in a few interviews he sees himself as more of a playmaker than goal scorer. He's not too shabby at goal scoring either. -

But magic beans! We traded magic beans!!! You have to trade something to get something. You won't get what you want without trading what they want.

Rathbone is waiver elligible next season, so he's pretty much at the make it or move him stage. It's the same for Hoglander. I really can't see Hogs clearing waivers next fall and think Rathbone would be 50/50 to clear because it hasn't been a great season for him. Personally I'm willing to part with either if accommodates moving a big contract out in the offseason.
