Jost has committed to UND next year so there's another top prospect heading there. North Dakota has an excellent program and a tremendous facility. Boeser wants to stay and it will give him another year to build strength.

Really, he just needs to improve his skating and gain some weight. He'll refine the other areas of his game through coaching and experience. If he can improve his skating like Horvat, I have no doubt this kid will become an absolute monster.

past the mid twentys there isn't any talk of those players, or for that matter much for players with any stats that stand out. You must know some names then. would like to look them up if ya got some names to look at
It's early January. Like every other year, the hype is still all about the top end guys. When we start approaching the draft, you will hear more about potential pickups in the later rounds

I'm more disappointed about the quality of games so far. Hopefully the intensity and skill picks up a bit more.
There's lots of fans that could be worrying about their teams prospects if this tournament was the be all and end all for them.
Yep, I don't know if it's because we don't have a strong team this year but this tournament has not been as fun to watch

I don't think it's about the numbers, but about his progression since being drafted. He's a returning 19 year old and he's playing quite poorly. If he played like the way Puljujarvi did last year, we'd be absolutely thrilled... who cares about the numbers. He's just making too many amateur mistakes. His shot looks worse than it was when we drafted him, he isn't skating as hard, and he hasn't been generating enough chances against players in his age group. Certainly, he has time to turn things around, but until we actually start seeing changes in his game, it's fair to criticize him. As a powerforward, it certainly will take time to bring it all together but I just don't like how so many people completely disregard how he has played in the past year and make excuses. We have the right to criticize his development. When he does well, we will praise him. When he has bumps in his development, we can criticize him. There are just so many people here closing their eyes, waiting for him to succeed, so they can say, "ha ha ha where are the haters now." Criticizing faults in his game is not being a "hater". I just want to see more from him in this tournament. I'm not asking for him to magically download Crosby's brain into his head and cut off Patrick Kane's hands to use, but it would be nice to see him use what he has. Let's see him skate a little harder, work a little harder, create more chances off the rush, and try to rally this team when it's down.

Jake underperformed today. It really didn't matter if the whole team struggled. It's just a poor excuse. As returning player, he needs to lead. As for his hockey IQ, I've been saying this all along, Jake does not have good hockey IQ. He is constantly out of position and doesn't know what to do without the puck. However, we didn't draft him expect him to think like Crosby. He needs to use his speed to be effective on the forecheck. He needs to be the most physically dominant player on the ice day in day out. He needs to learn to use his shot effectively. He needs to use all the physical tools he has been blessed with. Until he learns to play with what he has on a consistent basis, he won't be nearly as effective as he could be. He is going to have a specific role or niche at the professional level. He probably won't be an elite scorer in the NHL but he can be extremely effective as a power forward who can score off the rush. As for this tournament, there is no excuse for him not to perform. We need to see him DOMINATE physically and we need to see him move his feet and have his way with these defensemen.

Demko is 19, Markstrom is 25 if Markstrom looks like he can become the #1 Vcr expects..... can Demko become a trade chip in aquiring Hamonica... we desperatley need a young top end D .... now
Hamonic's great but I think Demko will have a much greater impact for us down the line.

Honestly regular season points don't mean that much when your looking for a Stanley cup. How many playoff points to Domi and Ehlers have?
virt's playoff totals aren't exceptional either...

Bhutt should have no problem putting on a few extra pounds of muscle without affecting his speed too much. Karlsson is a couple inches shorter and a few pounds heavier but he can still fly. One of Hutton's main weaknesses is getting beat along the boards. Other than that, he has surpassed everybody's expectations by a mile.

From college to the AHL and finally to the NHL, he's going to have some of the best goalie coaches along the way. Combine that with his tremendous athleticism and work ethic, it's very hard to imagine him busting.

Cap wouldn't have been as much of an issue if we didn't sign weber
We have too many Defenceman that have to stay on the roster
Edler tanev
Hamhuis sbisa
Clendenning bartkowski
Corrado weber
So we permamanetly have two Defenceman in the press box
Not when our guys drop like flies.

Giving him a spot on the Canucks would be a mistake IMO. He's not ready and he still has a lot to do and learn, even in the junior level. He will have an opportunity to start the season healthy, play a big role in the WJC, and maybe end the season with Utica. This is probably best for his development.

Brisebois has tools that give him a chance to set his own ceiling. He has smooth skating, high hockey IQ, and decent hands. Those things already give him the opportunity to succeed. He has good height and good reach. He's still a matchstick right now, if he packs on more muscle, that will allow him to do even more. Chances are, he will be lucky to be as good as Tanev. However, he has to tools to be more. With some good coaching, training, and development, you never know. He sees himself as a Marc-Edourd Vlasic type of guy. If he can come close to being a Vladic, we just hit jackpot.

Doesn't matter. He won't clear anyways

Considering how far Pilon fell, I'd say a lot of GMs really didn't like him.
