Is it time to come up with nicknames? I'm not down to say Baertschi for the next few years
-
His acceleration needs work. I don't think it will hinder his ability to play in the NHL though. It's adequate.
Gaunce- McCann- Cassels down the road as third line?
-
Is he going to be a net-front precense on the pp?
-
Benning yes, he has to sell Virtanen as a great player ( which he is!)
WILLIE im not sure. Virtanen doesnt bring defensive game like Horvat does. It will be interesting, but if benning wants Virtanen on the team, he'll tell Willie so
Few prospects bring a defensive game like Horvat

Link?

P.A. really wasn't that bad.
But take away their star #1 centre....
I know Morrissey developed pretty nicely in P.A. but putting Draisaitl on a team like the Rockets would be quite a bit better for his development. Nonetheless, scumbag move by MacT

Umm no, that's not even a rumour you're making crap up.
The oilers kept Leon because they didn't have any centers to start the season.
When they realized they messed up they sent him back to junior. St. Albert was not in a playoff position so they traded Leon to kelowna for some valuable draft picks.
pretty sure unknown is correct

He's developed very nicely but he's projected to be a third liner. The fact that he's playing wing now is making him more expendable. I'm a huge Gaunce fan though so I'd like to see him stay, as I believe he'll be an incredible third liner, but at the end of the day, if he can be packaged for something better, why not
-
Rather send him off to Utica to try and help them win the Calder Cup. He can be sent to Utica right? Someone please confirm ty.
yes

Anyone think Gaunce should get the call up
If Richardson is out for an extended period of time?
Even though we've been winning, our 2nd and 3rd lines haven't looked good as of late
they could probably do what they've done with Jensen, Bo-Sang, Corrado. He may not even have to play, but it'll be a good experience for him

Today's @DavidColonnaClo starting lineup: Stallard - Karnaukhov - Virtanen. Kanzig and Zipp in the backend and Mack Shields in net.
halleluja

Excited to see Jake lead the way for Canada next year!
-
I'd like to see him sharpen and master some of his offensive tools first, i.e. getting open, knowing when to pass vs. when to shoot, etc. If he ever goes to Utica, you can bet defense and backchecking will be drilled into him.
-
Back check harder or is he injured?
He laid a pretty solid hit before the goal. Don't think he was injured, just needed to skate harder
-
Has he had any shifts since the injury ?
Yea he was on the ice for Brandon's second goal
-
4-2 win for Demko and BC.

Anas may be one of the better names I've seen. I actually went to high school with an Anas..
-
The whole sequence was a bad play.
You may single out one player and say it was his fault, but I'm not going to.
I think fans are focusing a little too closely on Virtanen.
Only because we care about him the most

Bowey made a bad pinch but Virtanen was there, and he was in position to cover. Just because it was Bowey's fault, doesn't mean you just watch the play unravel because it's not your job. He could've skated hard, and he could've helped defensively. So what if he's not a two way forward, doesn't mean he doesn't know how to skate. We're not knocking on him as a player, but he made a bad play there. No need for these sarcastic "bust" jokes

I'd like to see him work on his floating when he doesn't have the puck. That's something that can be easily corrected. He also needs to work on getting open. He had an average game tonight. Wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. Had a couple good shots, some nice hits
-
Benning has to be showing at least some concern that when stepping up a grade Virtanen hasn't shown much. The WJC when compared to WHL is faster. I assume Benning is attending the WJC and is wondering where the great shooters shots have disapeared to. I like his physicallity but that doesn't replace scoring.
There is no concern. He's playing in a 19 year old's tournament and has been doing well. He'll be back next year and will play a bigger role. He'll be back next year a better player
-
This guy needs to play better, has tons of potential and upside tho.
With the exception of the game against USA, I thought he's been everything we've asked for. He obviously has flaws in his game, but nothing that's impossible to correct
-
So, does he still need hip surgery at the end of the season???
Not seeing any holes in his game!
I thought he already had it
-
Demko's playing fantastic right now

Best case scenario; Team Canada wins 1-0 and Demko makes 39 saves

I think Bart will get the Vey treatment as opposed to the Kassian. He'll have a longer leash and won't be punished as hard for mistakes. If Vey is given PP time, I'm sure Bart will receive some as well. And also, I'm sure he'll start out on the 3rd line at worst. He's just not the type of player to grind it out on the fourth line and work his way to the top. With the waiver situation, like Vey last year, there's not much else to do. And besides, we know Bart's problem has been with the mental side of the game and confidence. I don't think benching him will help.
