[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread

Salazar is injured, and was left off the roster. It will probably be Clevinger as their 4th starter. -
The Styles Clash is a fairly safe move, no more dangerous than a superkick or powerbomb. Like I said, it's the opponents fault if it's botched or not. He's been doing this move for 15 years, and only has seriously injured one wrestler, who happens to have wrestled in WWE before (Yoshi Tatsu).
-
In wrestling, you're taught to tuck your head in when you're taking a bump, but with the Styles Clash it's the complete opposite, you're suppose to extend your head back. Styles has no control, whether he botches it or not, unless if he loses his footing.
-
Damn, Styles nearly broke Ellsworth's neck, with the Clash.
-
Styles is 3-1 against Cena. Dude is burying Cena, hard.

The Jays sure love to make important games end in dramatic fashions. -

There was also a sense from the fans going into this season that both Edwin and Jose, will most likely walk after the season is over. So, it was pretty much their last chance of having this "super team" of talent playing for a World Series. -

Not knowing the seasons Estrada and Price had this year, who would you rather have? A guy who is consistently in the running for the Cy or a guy who had one career year, whose been pitching out of the bullpen throughout his career? Okay, he didn't have a great playoff as a Jay, but without Price is was highly unlikely the Jays would even make the playoffs last year, let alone win the AL division. Don't forget he pitched two crucial games against the Yankees that vaulted the Jays to first place. -

Well, at that time we didn't know what we were going to get from Estrada and Happ, who both had career years. Stroman, who never pitched a full season in the big leagues, was going in as their #1. And there were uncertainty with Sanchez's arm, could he handle the workload? They were a ton of question marks, in the rotation, going into this season. At least, with Price they knew what they were going to get. Plus, having Price would've it taken a lot of pressure off the other starters having an Ace, in the rotation. Luckily for the Jays, everything went their way and everything went they other way for Price. -

Not saying I know for a fact, but if the Jays offered Price 21M a year or a reasonable contract, he might have stayed. Price genuinely loved the team, the city and the fans. Not to mention the popcorn. It still pisses me off that Sharipo didn't even offer him a damn contract, knowing the Jays were at the top of his list. That's just bad management 101. If he walks, after saying the Jays were at his top of his list, then it will only look bad on his part. I think there was an article in the Sun (Toronto) about how, if AA was still the GM, the process of keeping Price. Dickey and Estrada would have been let go, AA would have given Price upwards to 21-25 a year. Then AA would have looked for a lesser starting arm like Happ (at that time), Rich Hill, Iwakuma, etc, have Hutchinson as the 4th and Sanchez as the 5th. -

My guess is that they don't bring much views in the American market. So, they get a crappy time slot. They're not going to bump the Red Sox, Cubs, and Dodgers off prime-time. -

Well, the Jays has had success against Hamels, before. Not so much against Darvish. Let's just hope the Jays work the counts, make Darvish work for his outs, and get him out early. So that, Texas need to go to their bullpen early. Happ needs to bring his A-game, as well. -

I'm glad they got to Hamels, because I don't expect them to win tomorrow against Darvish. -

I was very vocal about it (it's buried somewhere in the other MLB thread), just like how I was vocal about the Price trade (would be a waste giving up Norris, if they didn't re-sign Price). Despite just winning the Cy, Dickey was 38 years old at that time, was coming off a career year, and never really had success pitching in the AL, prior. So, it was a huge risk for the Jays, that only gave them a few decent seasons from Dickey. Honestly, I would have been just happy with the Johnson trade. -

The disheartening part about the Dickey trade is Syndergaard wasn't even the key centrepiece going the other way, it was d'Araurd. At that time, Thor was probably the Jays' 4th or 5th best pitching prospect and was ranked in the mid 90s, in all of MLB prospects list. They could have probably gave away McGuire instead of Syndergaard. -

Bautista likes to show his emotions on the field, that sort of rub people the wrong way. Whereas, Edwin just goes about his business. -

Glad Tillman is pitching and not Jimenez. While Tillman has been their ace all season long and pitched well in his last outing against the Jays. His ERA is over 7.00, when he pitches at Rogers. Lol. -

As for who should get the start on Tuesday. I would pitch Estrada on short day rest for 4-5 innings, then bring in Liriano in relief for 2-3. -

If I'm Showalter, I'll go with Jimenez. He's been near unhittable against the Jays. -

Nay, the Jays' magic number is 1. So, either a win or a loss from Detroit or Baltimore, means they clinch. -

It's kind of ironic that David Price might be the guy, that determines the faith of the Jays' playoff hopes. -

Depends if Seattle wins all of their remaining games. If Seattle does, I think we play them in a one game, winner take all for the last wild card spot. This assuming, Detroit wins 3 of their 4 remaining games.
