[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread

Lol, you mean Griffey who would stand in the batter's box for like 10 seconds, admiring his homerun every time he hit one or Ruth, who pointed to center field and called the shot even before the pitcher, pitched to him. -
I could see Vince paying Austin a butt load of money for one last match, against Lesnar, if he's desperately wants WM 32 to be one of the biggest events in wrestling history. Austin have said recently, health-wise he's doing well, but has no desire of getting back in the ring. Money can change that. Reigns (c) vs. Triple H is pretty much penciled in. Not sure what they're going to do with Taker, with all his rumour opponents out with an injury. They could have him skip WM altogether, and have him just get inducted to the HoF. One match a lot of wrestling fans what to see, is a heel Jericho vs. Ambrose. They already kind of planted the seed at NoC, when Jericho brushed off Ambrose and Reigns in their match against the Wyatts. I have always suggested that they remove the Money in the Bank PPV, and just have the match return to the WM card. This year would be the perfect time to do so, with all the injuries. Participants should include, Neville, Styles, Owens, Ziggler, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, Kingston, and Breeze They should include a NXT title match, on the card since technically NXT is part of the WWE (maybe on the pre-show). We can have Balor face of against, Zayn, Samoa Joe and Corbin in a Fatal four way. The rest of the card can be filled in with a tag match, maybe another fatal-4 way Texas Tornado, with the Dudleys, New Day, Usos, and the Wyatts or League of Nations. And then we need a divas match somewhere in there. Oh yeah almost forgot the annual Andre the Giant Battle Royal.
-
Well, AJ definitely doesn't need NXT to develope the WWE style. Shinsuke, on the hand, needs to adapt to the WWE style, as most of his moveset would probably not work in WWE or be banned. Similar situation when they brought in Kenta. I just hope for the love of God, they don't re-name Styles, to some BS name.
-
Apparently, AJ is going straight to the main roster along with Shinsuke.

Was driving home from work. Luckily, I was at a stop light. Felt a little shake, and thought to myself, when did I installed hydraulics, in my car?

There's still a possibility of Chapman being suspended for a lengthy period. -

Then there's something called pride. Loria is arguably one of worst owners in baseball history. The shady stuff he did with the Expos and Marlins, makes Steinbrenner look like a Saint to Red Sox fans. -

Reports have it that AA might be joining the Marlins front office in some capacity (not GM), after the new year. I'm surprised he would work for that POS owner Loria, with him being a die-hard Expos fan growing up. -
I'm a greedy bastard. xC

Owens will never get over with Vince. He doesn't have a physique of a World Champion.

The only saving grace left, this off-season, is if they re-sign Kawasaki. Please, thats all I'm asking for. -
Vince will probably blame the low rating due to Cena not being on television. Which is kind of true, little kids and Cena fangirls miss their daily dose of Cena. IWC can't wait long enough for the day Vince retires, Kevin Dunn gets the boot and Triple H takes over.

The Jays will have to either sign both Edwin and Bautista to extensions or see them both walk, because if you trade one of them, the other one won't be too pleased with the move. In other news, Lawrie once again got moved to the White Sox for two minor leaguers. Cue the "Lawrie for Donaldson trade" was a bad idea. -

For the 100x I never said it was a bad deal. It was a deal that was redundant at that time, when your offense was already the best in the league. If you are going to trade your best asset, then trade it for an area you lack in, ie: pitching. Is Price worth 31M, with his post-season stats? Maybe not, but Clayton Kershaw got 30M, with 1 playoff win and a ERA over 6. -

Yup, that's just bad management. You have to at least try and offer him a contract even though he might not accept it. If he rejects the offer, then it will only look bad on Price's part, considering all those rumours of him wanted to stay. -

That "inevitable decline" won't happen, until at least 5 years max and even if that happens, I'm almost certain they would have generated enough revenues to pay off Price's contract, within that 5 years and still have a profit. Especially, if they make the playoffs each of those 5 years. I already spoke about committing to Price for 7 years. He could decline, but even if he does, he'll still be a decent number two guy, in the rotation. I would also figure, there would be some sort of club option during those final years of his contract, where they can opt out. -

The thing is they would be making money, if they had Price for the full year+. Just look how packed the stadium was from the last quarter of the season, when they acquire him. Bet you, that's the most they'd ever made for the past 15 years or at least since Rogers bought the team. Now think, how much revenues they can bring in throughout an entire season of that. I guarantee you they would be making a profit from a season-fill pack stadium. And we haven't even mentioned merchandise sales, and broadcasting views. Here is another thing, they owe their own broadcasting rights and the stadium itself, so they're not even paying a second party, unlike other teams are. Not saying they should raise the budget to 200M+ like the Yankees and Red Sox, but as I mentioned from a earlier post, they could have essentially kept the same team from the playoffs, if they raised their budget to 150M - 155M. Is investing 10M - 15M more really that difficult from a billionaire company? -

Being a casual fan isn't bandwagoning. Plus, everybody got to start somewhere. -

I also found it hilarious when Shapiro said in today's press conference, that they didn't have the resources to re-sign Price and fill other holes. Which is a total horsesh*t lie, because we all know Rogers is one of the richest owners in baseball. They just didn't want to invest on the team. -

Ditto. And before people call me a bandwagoner, I've been a die-hard fan, since the Delgado era onto the Halladay era. Once, Halladay left, I slowly lost interests with the team, but still would watch them on occasion (became a Cards and Giants fan). When they finally, started to build a winner and made all these insane trades. They slowly gave me hope, that they actually cared. That they would put money into this team and be a powerhouse in the AL for years to come. But all that hope was pissed away, in less than a month. Tired of Rogers being cheap wankers, who only cared about putting money in their own pockets. -

At the end of the day, Shapiro get the last word on who the GM signs, trades, etc. Atkins and Lacava are his yes-men. Why do you think AA rejected the offer to stay on as GM? He knew he wouldn't get total control of the team, like he did under Beeston. -

I just what to touch up on the "committing to Price for 7 years" argument. Yes, Price will eventually decline, just like most athletes do when they get up there in age and I say most, because not all do. I'm going to go back to one of my earlier post and use Randy Johnson as an example. He was still a dominate pitcher, when he was 40. He won a WS and two Cy Youngs back-to-back, at ages 37 and 38. I could see Price have a similar path as the Big Unit, and still be dominate at the tailend of his contract. If not, he would still be at least a good number two guy, in the rotation. -

Jays also re-signed Justin "can't hit the breaking balls" Smoak. Well, f**k.
