[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread
shiznak replied to The Stork's topic in Off-Topic General
My man, David Price is available and hasn’t ruled out retirement. :p There’s some interesting names out there still on the market, surprisingly. Chris Archer and Garrett Richards are the two most interesting ones. On a side note, I know he’s pretty polarizing to the fans but Stroman has been tweeting up a lot about the Jays recently. Wouldn’t mind having him back in the roster next year with Ryu’s contract up. -

Who had; Kikuchi will have a better year than Manoah, on their Bingo card? -
Seider was projected to be a mid round pick and Detroit had him 3rd on their list. RHD are a hot commodity in the draft, because of the quality and quantity of that position. Wouldn’t surprise me if both Reinbacher and ASP are drafted above their projections rank.

Montreal is pretty set down the middle with Suzuki and Dach. Unless they move Dach to the wing, due to his poor FO%, but St.Louis said it wasn’t a concern for the team. I’ll be surprised if they don’t go with a defensemen in the 5 slot. That’s their biggest weakness in their system.

Probably, 20 games is my guess.

[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
shiznak replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
He’ll sign somewhere between 9.5-10m. Then some people will paint a picture that he took a pay cut to stay. When reality, in the present day, he just took market value. (Looking at @HKSR) -
Trevor Linden speaks on Canucks captaincy and life after hockey
shiznak replied to Canuck You's topic in Canucks Talk
Linden is the heart and soul of this franchise. He might not be the most skilled or most exciting to ever lace it up for us, but he exemplifies what a Canuck is. -
[PROPOSAL] Thatcher Demko Trade Proposals
shiznak replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
So, you mean they played backup/split the starting role, before they actually became starters? Which I already covered. Loungo never became a starter, until his 4th NHL season. Demko is still in his prime. Goalies usually takes longer to develop, which is why you rarely see teams take them in the first round. -
Depends, but Nurse’s method of triple teaming certain players has cost them some games, leaving other players hitting clutch shots. Then again, Embiid is one of the worst whiners in the league. So, is Nurse. It’s a match made in heaven.

Considering how poorly the bullpen has been. I totally forgot Bass was even on the team. They all come in and crap the bed. -
“They don’t care about winning. It seems like all they care about is shutting down the other team’s star players.” - Joel Embiid on Nick Nurse’s strategy. “I told him (Nurse) respectfully to stop bitching.” - Embiid altercation with Nick Nurse in last year’s playoffs win against the Raptors. These didn’t aged well.

[PROPOSAL] Thatcher Demko Trade Proposals
shiznak replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Talent based on what? Playing against replacement players and minor leaguers? Schneider played 3 full seasons and started his NHL career at 24. Demko played 2 full seasons and started his NHL career at 23. Thats hardly, cooking in the minors. -
Tkachuk’s rookie season wouldn’t have made a difference. We would still be a lottery team. He had 48 points in his rookie season, and 105 PIMs, which probably cost us a ton of games with our abysmal PK.

C-team? More like E-team. The only player(s) that would make Canada’s C-team are Toffoli and Weegar.

[PROPOSAL] Thatcher Demko Trade Proposals
shiznak replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
You mean the year where Vasilevskiy was injured for 3 weeks? Generally 55-65 games is starting goalie territory, anyway. Especially, if a team who does not have a viable backup option. Who is going to backup Silvos? He’s never played more than 44 games in his entire career. And now you’re asking him to play a certain amount of games in a season, just because he “looked” good in his rookie season, in the minors and a C-level tournament. What if comes in and fails? Then we’re probably looking at fighting for a lottery pick again, next year. -

You mean the same Bobrosky that never played more than 60+ games until he was 27? Sure there were goalies that have played more than 60+ games before the age of 23, but they were backups/splitting the duties before they actually took over the starting reigns. -

I like how people can think a 23-yrs old goalie can come in and just play 60+ games and succeed. -
[Rumour] Canucks interested in Alexis Lafrenière
shiznak replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Glass isn’t a complete bust. 35 points in 72 games playing primarily in a middle 6 role, this season. According to Trotz, he’s prime to take over as the #1 centermen in Nashville, next season. Regardless, no GM would trade Lafreniere for Boeser and a second. -

Lafreniere does not equal to Boeser and a second. Patrick Nolan, who been label as a bust and was damaged goods, was traded for Ellis, who was Nashville’s second best defensemen. Then later Vegas’ best prospect, in Glass. You can’t say Patrick has had the better resume than Lafreniere.
