  1. If anything Calgary took a risk, trading a young RFA for two aging players and look how that turned out for them. Carolina would be in the same boat as Calgary, if they trade for Miller. Vegas indeed took a risk with Eichel, but again he was 24-yrs old. Not a player in his 30s, who has term on his contract, that will handicap them in the future. Pietrangelo was a free asset in FA.
  2. Who cares if they move up 12 draft spots. The Rangers are trying to win NOW. Whoever they pick at 11th wouldn’t come in and help them in anyway. Not to mention adding Boeser mean they are add another 2m+ in cap, plus they still need to re-sign Bear. They’re actually bring in upwards of 5m in cap. Just to get rid of Goodrow and move up 12 spots.
  3. Not sure what ballsy moves did Vegas do? Sign Kessel? They traded for Barbashev, I guess. I wouldn’t call trading two aging, impending UFAs for a 24-yrs old RFA ballsy. Any GM would have done that, giving the chance.
  4. Tkachuk was 24, at that time. Miller doesn’t fit their timeline, no what how much of an impact he’ll make for them. They could sign someone like O’Reilly for a few years and it wouldn’t cost them any assets or limit their options in the future.
  5. Imagine being the Rangers and trading 2 young assets for a draft pick who wouldn’t make any immediate impact, a streaky player who has regressed since his second season, a RFA 4th-5th defensemen, and a prospect who hasn’t shown signs of any improvement. Just to get rid of Goodrow and take on 2m+ of cap.
  6. None of the remaining 3 teams in the playoffs, made any significant moves at the deadline. In matter of fact, they all played it safe at the deadline. Luck plays a major part of your success in the playoffs. The Hurricanes were just extremely unlucky with injuries and playing against the reincarnation of 96’ Vanbiesbrouck and Scott Mellanby. The series could have easily went the Hurricanes’ way, if the bounces were in their favour.
  7. If you’re going to trade Vladdy, then you might as well trade Bo and do a complete rebuild. There’s no point of keeping Bo for 3 more seasons, and then having him walk for nothing.
  8. We never got to see a full strength Hurricane team the entire season……so we don’t exactly know how far they would have gone.
  9. Panthers only scored 4 more goals than the Hurricanes this series, and before this series the Hurricanes were tied for 3rd in the playoffs in GF, second in xGF/60. All this without Svechnikov. It wasn’t a lack of offensive punch. They just happened to face the second coming of 96’ John Vanbiesbrouck.
  10. They could always re-sign Staal and Pacioretty on cheap deals, and go after O’Reilly (a player who actually have Stanley Cup experience) in FA; instead of going after a guy who will hamper their cap in a few years.
  11. I’m pretty sure them missing Svechnikov and Pacioretty was the difference maker.
  12. So, you rather have Miller at 8m for 8 more years, than Necas at 8m for 5-6 years? Moving on from a player in his prime for a veteran who will only be productive for 2-3 more years is just asking for yourself to be fired.
  13. Why would they move on from Necas? Led the team in points this season, and is only 24. Their window isn’t closing at all. Aho is 25, Necas is 24, Svechnikov is 23, Kotkaniemi is 23, Jarvis is 21, and Pesce is 28.
  14. No it doesn’t. Aho, Teuvo, Necas, Pesce, Skjei, and Javis all need new contracts within a year. Miller’s contract will just handicap their option of re-signing their players.
  15. Chychrun had a major shoulder surgery going into the draft, hasn’t played a full season due to various injuries and his career turned out okay. I don’t think he can get a pass on that.
  16. Aren’t the Hughes’ and Tkachuk’s family very close to each other? I’m pretty sure Tkachuk would have stayed if Hughes was on the team.
  17. I highly doubt his 48 points would have made a difference in our draft position. We would still be a lottery team, the following year. Not to mention his 105 PIMs, would probably have cost us more games loss than wins.
  18. A defensemen doesn’t score 18 goals in 56 games, without a pretty good shot. The highest goals total Salo ever gotten was 14, in 67 games.
  19. Do you love Corey Graves or do you love who he’s sleeping with?
  20. Surprised Friedman didn’t mention Brunette’s name as a candidate. Huberdeau arguably had his best season under Brunette.
  21. Huh? It wasn’t sarcasm. The dude gave a young fan the day of his lifetime, when he travelled from Argentina to see him play. Jimmy end up not playing that game, but when he found out about the fan. He spent the entire next day with the kid and his family. He also a legitimately prankster/troll off the court. During last season, he spent all of the off-season growing out his hair so he had long dreads. During media day, he force the league to take his headshot of his unusual hairstyle to use it on all its media platforms. The next day, he cut off his dreads and return to his normal hairstyle. So, the entire year they had to use that picture. This one:
  22. Times like these makes you miss Teo and Lourdes on the team. They were below average defenders, but at least they made up for it on offense.
