  1. What? I thought Quinn was the little dude in the box.
  2. Ahem…., Pretty much what I’ve been saying a month ago.
  3. Except Schneider is already playing at a pro level and doing exceptionally well. Gallant spoke highly of him at the Worlds, saying he has a demeanour of a veteran player.
  4. A young roster player (23 under), a top 3 prospect in the organization, and a conditional 2nd (becomes a 1st if the team makes it into the conference finals).
  5. Nice crystal ball. Just ask how Washington feels about trading Forsberg for Martin Erat. Looking back at the 2011 deadline. No one was worth a prospect like Hodgson, who was regarded as a top 10 prospect amongst the entire league. Not only that, but if I recall the Canucks were already tight against the cap. So, you’re scenario of bringing in a top 4 defensemen or a top 6 forward is irrelevant.
  6. May teams think they are one piece away from the cup and overpay at the deadline, but it rarely amounts to anything.
  7. Fair enough, however I still don’t see them trading Schneider, who I believe is being moulded into Trouba’s role sooner rather then later. Like I said, he’s probably their #1 prospects in their system and would likely take someone around their core age group to pry him out of New York in a trade. It would be like the equivalent to us in 2015 (?), trading Horvat for someone like Jeff Carter, at a run at the Cup. In the end, I think the Rangers are more likely to trade for a rental (my bet is Pavelski), who probably won’t cost as much as Miller.
  8. Some of these deals are so far out of reach. Let me ask you, would you guys trade Hoglander and a 1st for someone like Bjorkstrand from Columbus or Kempe from the Kings?
  9. 3rd line guy? He’s been playing in a top 6 role for NJ since entering the league, and can play all three forward positions. He has the potential to be offensively better than Garland.
  10. https://blueseatblogs.com/2021/07/26/rangers-sabres-not-close-on-jack-eichel-package/
  11. Friedman mentioned NJ as a possible landing spot for Garland. I’ll do Garland for Sharangovich, straight up.
  12. 26-yrs old Jack Eichel at 10M signed for 4 more years or 30-yrs old JT Miller at 8M+ signed for 6+ more years (if the Rangers manage to re-sign him)?
  13. As I mentioned numerous times, Gallant had a keen interest in Schneider prior to taking the job in NY. He raved about him when he coached him at the Worlds. My guess is they are moulding him to eventually takeover Trouba’s role on the team. In his short stint in the league, he’s already playing in key situations in the absence of Fox. He’s probably their #1 prospects in the system and would take a massive impact young player, who fits their core age, in order to pry him away. If they weren’t willing to give up Schneider in a Eichel deal, what makes people think they will for Miller? I know, Eichel has had a career alternating injury, but he’s still has the past pedigree of an “elite” talent. Plus, we seen other athletes who had similar surgery, play at an high level after their neck fusion surgery (Peyton Manning).
  14. It was a terrible turnover by Miller, but it wasn’t entirely all his fault. Hughes made a bad route trying to recover. That he collided with Boeser just enough to slow both of them down. Which caused them to scramble back and try to defend with their backs turned away from the puck.
  15. McKenzine has Nemec at 9, which isn’t too far where we are currently slated to pick. Trading Miller will certainly bump us up a few spots in the draft. Jiricek isn’t far-fetched, either. His ranking is all over the place. Ranked as high as 3rd and as low as 15th. His knee injury might shy away teams, as well.
  16. You look at our lack of production on defense. I think I’d much rather have Lundkvist than Schneider and then draft someone like Nemec, Jiricek or Chesley, to fix our RD situation. I just don’t think Schneider is on the table, unless they get someone who can impact them, not just a few seasons, but long term as well.
  17. Would have been an awesome sight to see if Bedard was selected.
  18. Allvin looks like a villain out of a Bond movie. All 31 GMs around the league should be worried.
  19. And every team who do so (mortgage their future at the deadline), never really amount to anything in the playoffs.
  20. Sorry, I meant a trade deadline acquisition. Beside, St. Louis didn’t exactly sell their future for him, either. Decent prospect (Thompson), a late first round pick, and a middle 2nd.
  21. I can’t remember the last time a big ticket player who got traded to a team and then precede to win the Stanley Cup with that same team. I guess you can say Coleman from last season, but the Lightning didn’t exactly mortgage their future.
  22. Are they willing to mortgage their future for an off chance of winning a Cup? What if, they don’t win in those two years? Then they essentially lose Strome and Miller to free agency; Chytil and Schneider in a trade, and a first. Their center depth will be completely gutted. Like I mention in another thread, it would be a lot cheaper for them to go get a rental player (ie Giroux, Pavelski) without selling the future.
  23. I keep reading, the Rangers have enough to retain Miller after his current deal is up. However, I just don’t see it. They have a ton of players coming off their entry level deals, and I think they are more of a priority then re-signing Miller to a huge contract. I mean, there’s a reason why they moved Buchnevich. They could possibly move Krieder’s contract, but if you have the option of a 32-yrs old with 4 more years at 6.5M or re-signing a 30-yrs old to a 8M+, 6+yrs deal. I think I would choose the former and hope Krieder can continue to play at a high level at that age. Trading Krieder would also mean giving up more assets to a team to take on his contract, which the Rangers probably will not have, if they trade for Miller.
  24. Strome isn’t a slouch of a player, who can kill penalties as well. Plus the known chemistry with Panarin.
