  1. While I never wish death upon anyone. I read the title as Bob McCown, and a bit of me was smiling inside.
  2. First rounders are VASTLY overrated on these boards, especially picks from 15-32. The chances of picking a top 6 forward/4 dmen between that range is less than 20%. If you take a look at draft prospects between the year 2004-2018 who became impactful players; you can find that there isn’t very many. 2004: Schneider (26), Green (29). - Although, I would argue that these two were fringe superstars. Had a few good seasons, but kind of fell off their stardom near the end. 2005: Rask (21), Oshie (24) 2006: Giroux (22) 2007: Pacioretty (22) 2008: Karlsson (15), Eberle (22), Carlson (27) - Eberle been playing top 6 minutes throughout his career, but I wouldn’t consider him an impactful player for his club. 2009: None 2010: Tarasenko (16), Kuznetsov (26) 2011: J.T Miller (15) 2012: Wilson (16), Teravainen (18) 2013: Theodore (26) 2014: Larkin (15), Pastrnek (25) 2015: Barzal (16), Connor (17), Chabot (18), Boeser (23), Konecny (24) - Boeser and Konecny are in the same boat as Eberle. Wouldn’t consider them impactful players, but plays in a top 6 role. 2016: Chychrun (16) 2017: Norris (17) 2018: Smith (17) Since 2004, there’s only been one draft (2015) that produced more than three players, who became serviceable top 6/top 4 players for their clubs.
  3. Good. Now I don’t need have an argument with certain users who don’t cheer for Canada, because they don’t have any Canucks’ representatives on the team.
  4. I feel Fitzgerald is hard pressed on making the playoffs this year, based on his acquisitions this summer. With their young core all taking a step forward in development. Sharangovich is the only one who has regressed. They still have a plethora of young forwards in theirsystem that could very well make Sharangovich expendable. Hamilton has also looked out of placed without Slavin bailing him out. OEL could be that steady defensive partner like what he had in Carolina, with Slavin.
  5. In a world that we trade for Chychrun and keep OEL. I’ll be more comfortable playing Chychrun on the right side, since he’s done it before. But ideally I would probably ship out OEL and regain assets back from the Chychrun trade. To Arizona: Hoglander/Podkolzin 2x first round picks (22’ top 10 protected) DiPietro To Vancouver: Chychrun 2nd To New Jersey: OEL (Subban replacement) To Vancouver: Sharangovich 2nd 4th
  6. What is more likely to happen within 3 years, a 26-yrs old in his prime years regressing or a 33-yrs old, entering the tail end of his career, regressing?
  7. What was the purpose of The Rock showing up in No Way Home and giving a Rock bottom to Aunt May?

    1. Nucker 67

      Nucker 67

I have no idea what you're talking about, at all, but my guess is: the Rock loves himself on camera.

    2. Apples

      Apples

Aunt May was a fruity pebble

  8. It’s not a lateral move if you believe, in 3 years, that a 34 yrs old is going to keep up with his current workload and outperform a 26 yrs old.
  9. Not sure if the Rangers would do this trade, but would you guys do Lafreniere for Miller, straight up?
  10. He’s struggling offensively, because he’s forced to play in his own end, playing shutdown minutes, a lot. Out of all the defensemen in the league who has played over 500+ minutes. He’s 7th in defensive zone starts and has the 27th lowest offensive zone starts, just ahead of OEL. His xGA/60 (expected goals against per 60mins) is better than all of our defensemen, aside from OEL and Myers. That is pretty astounding considering his league’s worst -/+ and Arizona being 31st in goals against. Myers/OEL: Hughes: As I mentioned in a earlier post, if we were to acquire Chychrun. I would probably move OEL, even though he’s has had a resurgence season with us defensively. IMO, he doesn’t fit our core age group like Chychrun does. Plus, the tail end of his contract would be a wrench in our future cap space.
  11. People see the plus/minus rating and clearly say he’s a terrible defender, but in reality he just plays on an awful team. His offense has fallen off a cliff, but that’s due to mostly being deployed with the bottom six forwards, playing tougher minutes (he’s basically their last line of defense). He isn’t even the trigger man on the powerplay anymore, which was his bread and butter. He plays near the half board.
  12. So in return, they traded for a guy who is equally as bad as Ghost?
  13. I wouldn’t say he regressed into an AHL level player. He scored 37 points, in 70+ games after he signed his deal. The following season, he was plagued by injuries and only played in 40 games. In 2020-2021, he was on pace for another 40+ points. While averaging 19+ minutes a night, since signing his deal. This trade was more to do, with Philly acquiring Ellis and Ristolainen.
  14. Not necessarily. Negative value, could mean their value wasn’t as great as it was, when you acquired them.
  15. I’m not undervaluing the player. It’s his contract, (while not that outrageous), that teams will shy away from. Again, find a team that will need his service, willing to take on his contract. Philadelphia basically begged Arizona to take on Ghost’s contract, while receiving nothing in return.
  16. Anything below a 4th/5th round pick is basically negative value.
  17. And like I said, finding a trading partner is easier said than done, behind a computer screen. I don’t see teams willing to take on his contract at 32, especially a Cup contender, unless we are willing to part ways with a good prospect or a first round pick attached to the deal. You also likely want to upgrade the bottom six and bottom two pairings, in that lineup. If we want to contend in a few years.
  18. They still have one more year left on their contract, when we need to extend both Miller and Horvat. So, the team acquiring them will need to take on their full caphit.
  19. Both Pearson and to a lesser extent Dickinson have negative value. I don’t expect teams lining up asking for their services, unless we attach a first round pick in the deal.
  20. Miller would be a core player, if he was there years younger. IMO, I don’t see him staying after his current contract is up nor do we have the cap space to retain him.
  21. This was long overdue. He’s been a senior advisor with this team for over a decade now. Should have been promoted from his position when Trevor was let go.
  22. Chychrun wasn’t sheltered by OEL. He played more minutes against elite competition than any other Coyotes last season, including OEL (according to puckiq).
  23. As the saying goes, hindsight is always 20/20. Although, It is kind of demoralizing that there wasn’t really a consensus number one defensemen that year, and we went with the safest bet, which turned out to be the worst one. Even Jake Bean is low-key having a great season with Columbus.
  24. The asking price is going to be a king’s ransom. As I stated, probably two young pieces, and maybe two firsts. I mean, how often that you hear a number one defensemen under 25, that is signed to a team-friendly contract, being shopped on the trade market?
  25. It’s easy to look at his +/- and say he’s doing awful in Arizona, but if you take a deeper look at his numbers. It shows he not doing that bad defensively. Out of all the defensemen who logged over 500+ minutes this season. He’s ranked 12th in xGA (expected goals against), 7th in scoring chance against and 11th in high danger scoring chance against. That’s pretty remarkable when Arizona is ranked 8th in shots against and last in goals against. His offensive game has taken a huge hit, though.
