  1. Based on what? Because he leads the team in points? How many times has Miller given the puck away in the offensive zone leading to a odd man rush? He sits 4th on the team in high danger scoring chance against, while having a o-zone start percentage over 60%. The dude also leads the team in giveaways.
  2. Ya’ll mad because Horvat didn’t stick up for Podkolzin, but what about the other times he stuck up for his teammates? Pearson, Garland, Bärtschi, Stecher, Holtby? Amongst the core group, Horvat would probably be the last guy I would trade.
  3. Floaters don’t get used on the PK, in reference to Marner. Arguably, one of the top 5 defensive wingers in the league. You may have a case for Matthews, though.
  4. Defense. It’s been like this since Benning took over. 5th in the league in shots against, since 2014. The only playoff team who has a worst shot against per 60 mins is Toronto, but they can manage to win games by outscoring their opponents. While we can’t.
  5. I know we’re in a different era, but you’ll be shocked at what fans/players have said during the 90’s, early 2000s. I read a story about a fan in New York making funny of Jordan’s dad death. You know what Jordan did to the Knicks? Dropped 50 points.
  6. As long as the fans aren’t physically attacking the player or delaying the game in any manner. I say, the fans could say whatever they want to the player. If you want to make a statement to a peculiar fan. Just drain the winning shot, make eye contact with them, and say “now what?”. That would have been a better ending.
  7. This isn’t a coach problem. Hughes will never be good defensively, because of his small stature. He isn’t able to push guys out of the way in front of the net or get into position. This is why you rarely see him play in front of the net and always playing near the half boards. Why is that, you see the forward group always chasing and hemmed in our zone, discombobulated? It’s because they need to cover for him.
  8. You might want to get your eyes check, then. Hughes is actually on pace to give up more scoring chances than last year.
  9. Is he actually better than last year? Despite his +/- rating and being deployed in the offensive zone 70% of his shifts. He leads the team in high danger scoring chances agiainst (10 more than Myers) and scoring chances against (9 more than Myers).
  10. His offensive skills, does not offset his deficiency in the defensive zone.
  11. I thought we started off slow but managed to tie them in shots in the end. We probably win this game 3 times out of 10 - Green
  12. How many current captains actually gets scrappy in game? Toews Bergeron Josi McDavid Tavares Kopitar Hischier Crosby Couture Giordano O’Reilly Stone Barkov Larkin Spurgeon None of these captains, I would consider scrappy players.
  13. Don’t you think Pettersson has the same vision as Bo? Obviously, everyone wants to win the Cup at some point, in their career. Pettersson, flat out said that he wanted to be apart of a winning culture this past off-season, when negotiating his contract. If we went into a full rebuild, I’m almost certain that he’ll want out. You also run the risk of Hughes wanting to join his brothers in New Jersey once his contract is up. Like I said, if you trade both Miller and Horvat, two staples of our PK, who play hard minutes……who are you going to replace them with? People might not want to hear this, but I could never see Pettersson or Hughes as players you can build a franchise with. If they’re not scoring, they’re pretty much a liability on the ice. And this is not a coach problem. Hughes was never going to be a player who can play at both ends. His small stature doesn’t allow him to push guys out of the way in front of the net. This is why, he is always caught out of position, and isn’t quick enough to recover. He leads the entire team in both high-danger scoring chances and scoring chances against. Despite him, being deployed in the offensive zone 70%+ in his shifts. Same goes with Pettersson, he is 3rd on the team in those categories, with the same amount o-zone percentage. Trading Pettersson, also fetch us a lot more of a return than trading a guy like Horvat.
  14. Out of our core players, Horvat would probably be the last guy on the list, that I would trade. Who is going to play those tough minutes once he’s gone? Pettersson? Miller? Sutter? Pettersson Boeser Hughes Demko Horvat
  15. It’s nice to know the players are having fun playing hot potato, late in the game. When they’re down by one goal.
  16. 7-8M is pretty much market value for a 50-60 point player.
  17. Should someone tell him that Horvat and Demko were born in the same year or shall I?
  18. He got them into the playoffs in his first year as president after a disaster of a year. He restored the prospect pool by hiring a former scout as GM and promoted Brackett to director of scouting. He mentioned it was unfair to the Sedins to rebuild while they were still on the team, but once they retired. He wanted to go into a full rebuild, which owners and co. wanted no part of. Linden had other businesses outside of hockey. Along with having a newborn that year. Maybe he just wanted to step away from hockey and focus on raising his family?
