  1. I feel like they will sign Ray, and let Semien go. From the off-season press conference last month. Shatkins stated that they will like to move up into the top 10 in the league, in payroll next season. Berrios’ contract doesn’t kick in until 2023 and he’s slated make only 11M next year. So, there’s plenty of cap space to sign either Ray or Semien for 25m or less.
  2. We played well enough for Green to secure a job. MORAL VICTORY!!!!
  3. There was never really a chance of signing both, unless both take a lesser deal to stay. I can see them signing one and then go the trade route to get another player.
  4. I never claim the Canucks were a good team, even after all these trades Benning made to speed up the rebuild. I was never a fan of the Miller trade or OEL trade. Getting Beagle and Roussel was not necessary. None of these trades/signings were going to put us over the top as contenders. People said they improved the team from last season. But really have they? Our achilles heel has always been our defence. OEL has been alright, but is he that much of an improvement over Edler? Especially being paid 3m+ more? Schmidt was a let down here, but I’d rather have him playing in our top 4, playing against tougher opponents than Poolman. Myers and Hamonic, are pretty much what you see is what you get. They really do nothing special. Hughes is Hughes. He gets you points, but he’s still a liability in his own end, getting caught out of position and losing puck battles. The forward group should be better, but it’s hard for them to do anything when half the time they’re hemmed in their own zone, because as a group, they can’t retrieve the puck. The original arguments was they should have started the rebuild earlier on with the Sedins. When, they sorta did, acquiring younger talents through trades. Yes, they traded away picks, but 2nd/3rd round picks are damn overrated on these boards. When the chances of that pick becoming a serviceable NHL is less than 25%.
  5. Detroit signed Green (technically) for 5 yrs. The Ducks re-signed Adam Henrique for 5m+. Rangers sped up their rebuild and signed Panarin on the open market and traded one of their first and Pionk for Trouba, which is looking like a terrible deal.
  6. None of them turned out well for us, but you look around the league. There are plenty of cases where a player who was shunned by his former club, turned out to be a pretty good player for his new club.
  7. Detroit is still re-rebuilding after Zetterberg retired. The Rangers went out on the open market and paid 10M for a winger, sold young assets for a number one defensemen and traded for several reclamation projects from other teams (ie Strome, Fox, DeAngelo, Howden). Aside for this hot start to the season, the Ducks have been awful.
  8. He coached Horvat, and turned a puny little kid, into one of the best two-way wingers in league today.
  9. Those picks weren’t going to fill up the roster at that time, and Benning would’ve had to go into the market and pay for players to fill up his roster anyways. Again, rebuilding with the Sedins on the team, would have been pointless.
  10. Look what Burakovsky is doing in Colorado. Adam Fox in New York. William Karlsson in Las Vegas. Marty St.Louis in Tampa.
  11. And I’m saying they kind of diid rebuild during the tail end of the Sedin era. They traded away Kesler, Bieksa, Burrows, Hansen, and got a lot younger. Bärtschi - 22 yrs old Vey - 22 yrs old Etem - 23 yrs old Sbisa - 25 yrs old Granlund - 22 yrs old Gudbrandson - 24 yrs old Goldobin - 20 yrs old Stecher - 22 yrs old Pouliot - 23 yrs old Leipsic - 23 yrs old Burmistrov - 25 yrs old All these players under 25; Benning acquired that were suppose to be the next wave of our core players.
  12. They did built around them. Doofus was a free asset that only cost us cap. No one knew he was going to be that bad, coming off a 30 goal year. Gudbranson was also coming off a stellar playoff, and was 24yrs old. He would probably be apart of this core, if he played like he did in Florida. Dorsett was traded for a 3rd rounder that never amounted to anything. Vey was a 22yrs old rookie who did extremely well in the minors. Bärtschi was also looked promising, until he got concussion issues that derailed his career. Like I said, rebuilding with the Sedins would have been pointless. It’s like how Detroit tried to rebuild with Zetterberg.
  13. Watch us win the next two games, and Green’s job would be secure until we lose three in a row.
  14. Not only that, but no team was willing to take on 14M in cap space for two aging players. So, Trevor was right that the correct time was to rebuild after they had retire.
  15. There was no point in starting a rebuild with the Sedins in our lineup. They were going to play out their careers in Vancouver. So the team had no choice but to try and compete with them on our team, despite their skills declining.
  16. I’m questioning how much of an improvement OEL is over Edler? He’s practically doing what Edler been doing the past two years with us, but being paid 3m+ more.
  17. What about Brent Sutter? We can have Darryl vs. Brent, with Brandon playing for his daddy.
  18. On the bright side, at least were not on pace for 16 points like the Coyotes.
  19. His corsi is skewed, because he starts in the offensive zone 74% of his shifts. Green rarely deploy Hughes in the defensive zone, because still gets caught out of position or loses his puck battles. He lead the team in high danger scoring chance against and second on the team in high danger goals against. This is why +/- is flawed, when determining how good a player is, defensively.
  20. I always liked how Ralph Krueger coached, despite his poor coaching record.
  21. Bruh, people are actually talking about playoffs/standing, right now, when the season is only a month old. When the team is still below .500 at the 45 game mark. Only then, we shall start to worry.
  22. If you have seen any Coyotes games. The team is just plain awful. No secondary defense, no scoring, and no goaltending whatsoever. Despite being a league’s worst minus-20. His defense actually has improve over last season by 10%, according to his advance metrics.
  23. 5 sliver sluggers candidates, 2 MVP finalists, and a Cy Young nominee. Zero playoff games. :(
