  1. They should have been at least a bubble playoff team, with Kane and Skinner in the lineup. Both who were still fairly young and former 30 goals scorers.
  2. Not a good time for Vladdy Jr. to be struggling right now. Still a game back of the Red Sox, but the Mariners are now ahead of us with a half of a game. Tomorrow is not going to get any better with Cole on the mound.
  3. Still didn’t answer why Eichel doesn’t trust the team. He has no reason to not to trust the team. If you were an athlete, and the team’s doctor, who has over 10 years of experience, says you need this type of surgery. You would probably go along with it, like most athletes do. You can ask for a second opinion, given the permission for the team and it’s doctor. Which the NHL, will provide a second opinion from a selective list. Eichel didn’t do that. He hired his own opinion, from a third party. Obviously, his own doctor is going to go in a different route, because he’s paying him. Not the team.
  4. Answer me this. What event in the past, that made Eichel so untrustworthy towards the organization? They pretty much given everything he asked for from the front office. So, why the trust issues?
  5. Just for the record. This what the CBA says about a player and what procedure to take.
  6. People seem to think what Buffalo wants is the “wrong” procedure. Making out as they are purposely trying to ruining his career. When many athletes have had the same surgery done and still performed at a high level. Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods are the two notable athletes who had fusion done in their neck and spine. Their careers turned out to be “okay”, after their surgery.
  7. What is there to be skeptical about? By being affiliated with the best doctors in the state? Eichel blasted front office for not being able to ice a competitive team. Yet, since being drafted, they surrounded him with players like O’Reilly, Kane, Okposo, Skinner, Dahlin, and Hall as a supporting cast. For a guy who is labelled as a franchise player. You should be able to put your team over the top with those type of players. Not only that, they brought in a former Stanley Cup winning coach to guide him, after losing in on the Babcock sweepstakes. But of course, Mr. Prima Donna butted-head with the coach, forcing management to fired him or he won’t sign a new contract. Despite, improving their record from the previous years. Like I said, Eichel seem like an entitled brat, who always wants it his way. It’s time for Mr. Eichel to look in the mirror and see who the real problem is.
  8. Like all sports doctors. They don’t directly work for the team. It’s an outside partnership from a different firm. Having a working relationship with the Sabres is irrelevant, because their team doctor also works for the Bills.
  9. I have a feeling Boston is letting the Yankees win, because they rather face the Yankees than the Jays in a wild card game. Boston’s last two series are against the Orioles and Nationals. Two “easy” series.
  10. I touched upon this topic in the Pettersson/Hughes thread. I wager to bet that Chychrun will probably have similar career numbers as Hughes, if he had a better offensive supporting cast around him. Arizona has always been near; or at the bottom of the league in goals for. When Hughes scored 53 points two seasons ago. The Canucks were in the top 10, in goals for, while Arizona were 21st. Their top point getter that season was Schmaltz, with 45 points. To put into perspective, Schmaltz would have been 7th on our team in scoring that year, behind Pearson and Brock. Now if you compare their numbers last year, when both team were struggling for offense. They had the exact points total, but with one difference. Hughes had only 3 goals, while Chychrun had 18. That would have put him 3rd on our team, behind Horvat. Another thing to point out; Most of Hughes points come off the man-advantage (.45 points off the PP), where he was practically given the job from the get-go. Chychrun barely saw any PP time during his first two seasons, playing behind OEL and Goligoski.
  11. While that may be true. You as a player also have the right to listen your employer’s suggestions. What Eichel did, made him look like an entitled brat, by not trusting the organization’s training staff. Is it the right surgical procedure? Maybe not, but it isn’t like the organization is meticulously trying to ruin his career. I’d say 90% of sports athletes will go with the team’s medical staff. While the other 10%, will seek a different opinion given the permission from the team and its doctors. Eichel went out of the team’s way and seek his own opinion, without permission. Which is kind of a d**k move. Basically, tell the organization he doesn’t trust the medical staff.
  12. Yes, if they were paying me 10M a year. If I can’t perform, like years past, because of the surgery they wanted. That’s on them. I’ll just walk away with my 80M.
  13. He played on the PK in London too and won a Championship, under one of the toughest defensive coaches in junior. And it’s not like the Leafs put him there, because they didn’t have the players. Marner actually lobbied to be on the PK unit, because he wanted to prove he can do it. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/quick-shifts-maple-leafs-mitch-marner-loves-playing-dr-kill/
  14. Yep, look at that overall consistency. Apparently, the worst out of all the umps from last night’s games. EDIT: Nevermind Dan Iassogna was worst.
  15. That pitch to Valera was borderline and probably gets called 60% of the time. But the pitch to Hernandez was nowhere close to the strike zone.
  16. Hypothetically speaking, if both Hughes and Petey don’t sign by the end of October, and the team has a winning record. Do we go into the territory of thinking about trading both players?
  17. This is blatant homerism, at its finest. As I previously stated, Marner is one of the best defensive wingers in the entire league. He’s right up there with Stone and Marchand. Marner led his team (amongst forwards) in SH minutes, the past two seasons, and is 3rd in the league in takeaways, since entering the league. Marner is also deployed pretty evenly on the ice; career 60% offensive zone start, 40% defensive zone start. Compare to Pettersson’s career 73% ozs, 26% dzs. So the question is, if Pettersson is a better 200-foot player like you claim he is. Why isn’t he on our PK or why isn’t his deployment spread out evenly on the ice? I think a lot of people’s minds are clouded, because of his one poor playoff performance last year. And before you say, “he hasn’t score a playoff goal in 12 playoff games.”. Marner was never going to be an elite goal scorer, never was. If you follow him since his junior days. He actually has a muffin of a shot. His game is an elite playmaking winger, one of the best. Since 2018, he’s ranked 2nd, only behind McDavid, in primary assists. If both had the exact caphit and term. I think a lot of GMs would pick Marner over Pettersson, despite Petey being a “centermen”. Quotation on centermen, cause he really hasn’t played center for over a year and a half. I think anyone who says no to this deal is bats**t crazy. 7.4M for a defensively sounded winger, who is guaranteed 80+ points is an absolute steal in today’s cap world. People keeps on clamouring about Horvat’s lack of linemates. Marner would be the ideal linemate for Horvat. I could see Horvat breaking 30+ goals, 80+ points along side Marner. Plus, they have that London Knights connection.
  18. If the Yankees don’t make the playoffs. They can thank Gary Sanchez.
  19. I recall you hating on how Marner plays, calling him flamingo boy. Why the change of tune?
  20. You’re making some nonsensical argument here, just to prove to yourself that you’re right. I’m surprised you haven’t gone with “oh he played in a different system with a different coach, yadda yadda.” I don’t care how many voters out of 150 votes. Voted him as a Selke nominee. The fact is out of all the players in the league. Kopitar was the 7th best player, voted in as a Selke candidate. That same argument applies to Point. Getting notice as a Selke nominee, no matter how many votes you got, goes a long way. Other writers will notice. If Pettersson is as good as you claim him to be, he would have at least gotten some votes from someone and so far, after all the exposure from his rookie year. He’s gotten zero votes.
  21. After not getting a single vote in 2018. He was 7th in voting in 2019, and 12th last year. He was almost a ppg last year. So, beg the question. Have you seen him play recently?
  22. Kopitar didn’t get a single Selke vote in 2018, after winning it in 2017. I guess, he isn’t a perennial Selke nominee.
  23. Then, where was Pettersson’s homer votes, from the Vancouver based voters? If he were above average defensively, he would have at least gotten some homer votes. Horvat, who people on here say, is our best defensive forward. Hasn’t even gotten a single Selke vote, ever. The year he was 8th in voting. he beat some very exceptional Selke candidates/winners (Toews, Marchand, Stone, O’Reilly). Stone was 22nd in voting that year, and the following year was runner up. There’s a good chance Point could very well win a Selke within the next 5 years.
  24. The fact Point is in consideration for Selke, top 10 no less. While Pettersson isn’t even mentioned. Should give you an idea how much better Point is defensively.
