  1. Point was 8th in Selke voting in his second year, 9th when he signed his bridge deal, and 10th two seasons ago.
  2. Point has been a Selke candidate since his sophomore year. He has one of the best takeaway/giveaway ratio in the league. Offensively they’re pretty much on par, but defensively he’s head and shoulders above Pettersson.
  3. Marner is one of the best defensive wingers in the league. Amongst wingers, I’ll probably only rank Stone, Killron, and Marchard ahead of him. Since entering the league he’s 3rd in takeaways, and led his team in SH minutes played, the past two seasons.
  4. I think you meant three brothers, Jared was apart of that organization as well and actually suited up along side Eric and Jordan, one game. Marc was never made available for the Hurricanes. He signed an extension after his RFA years. I mean, they could have traded for him, but I doubt the Rangers were shopping him at that time.
  5. Oddly enough, when MacKinnon signed that deal, many thought is was an overpayment. He just came off a 53 points season, and took 8% of the team’s salary cap. Sakic knew what he was doing, he paid him for his potential, knowing the cap was probably going to increase each year and if he somehow didn’t reach his potential. It was still going to be a team friendly contract at the end of it. Unfortunately, we probably won’t have that option with Petey. Friedman predicts the cap won’t be increasing, any time soon (heard 5 years of a flat cap, 3 years minimum). That is why I’m not too keen on paying either Hughes or Pettersson 8x8.
  6. From 2012-2016, Schneider led the entire league in SV% and GAA (minimum 230 games played).
  7. Prime Schneider was a top 5 goalie in the league. Too bad injuries caught up with his body.
  8. I just want to put this out there. Francisco Lindor - .222/.317/.380, with 14HR and 47 RBI Lourdes Gurriel Jr. - .280/.322/.460, with 17HR and 71 RBI
  9. That’s literally a 10-15 points differential, in a single season.
  10. Boeser will be going into his 3 contract year, meaning we will need to buy his UFAs years. If he continues to score at a 40 goals pace. You’re looking at 7-9M on his next contract (with term). Hughes = 8M Boeser = 8M Pettersson = 6-7M (Bridge) OEL = 7M That’s 29-31M on only 4 players.
  11. Bridge deal, less term = less money. Find me a player who signed a bridge deal worth over 8M. Especially a player, who has yet to play a full season. We’ve seen this dance before, with Boeser. A lot of people on here thought he was getting well over 7m+, but end up with a bridge deal at 5.7M. At that time of his deal, Boeser averaged .83 points per game. That isn’t too far off, what Pettersson currently averages.
  12. It seems like it’s going to come down to the last day of the regular season. While both the Yankees and Red Sox loss. The A’s and Mariners won. So, they’re right on the Jays’ heel. Need to capitalize on this series, considering the next series is against the Rays.
  13. Mike Gillis was a damn terrible GM. Besides his team (which he inherited all the keep pieces from Nonis), making the finals. What was his biggest accomplishment during his tenure here? Trading for Ballard, Higgins, and Lapierre? I’ll give him credit for getting us Horvat and Markstrom, but that was pretty much it. He hampered us with NTC, and gave us one the worst media circus debacle with the our goalie saga. While he wasn’t perfect, I’d say Nonis deserve more credit for the 2011 run than Gillis. Nonis drafted, Edler and Kesler, signed Burrows and traded for Luongo.
  14. If the “rumour” 8x8 for Hughes is true. You can pretty much kiss Boeser and Motte goodbye. Possibly Horvat as well. Ideally, you would go 6x4 for Hughes and 6.5x3 for Pettersson. Petey gets 500k less than what Barzal got, due to not playing a full season. Both would still be RFAs after those contracts expire. While Pearson’s, Myers’, Poolman’s and Dickerson’s salaries are off the books.
  15. The Jays are the first team since 1908, to sweep the Yankees at home, while never trailing once in those games.
  16. Oasis. Champagne Supernova never gets old for me.
  17. They made the playoffs 3 out of the 5 years, since making that trade. The first year they missed the playoffs, Weber was out practically the entire year. Only playing 26 games, along with Price missing a few stretch of games. The following year, they barely missed the playoffs, and was 14 games above .500 (96 points).
  18. Funny, I thought MB/Montreal was “done” a long time ago, when he/they traded Subban for Weber.
  19. There are far better option if you want “pre-existing” chemistry. For instance, you can have Marner and Tavares, with McDavid, as a line, which would be a lot better than what you presented. Point and Stamkos, is also almost guaranteed, if both were selected. Considering, the coach is their NHL coach. As much as I want Horvat on the team. Canada is just too deep at center, for him to make the team. Maybe as a 13th forward, but I don’t see him getting the nod over guys like Couturier, Scheifele, or even Toews. Who are as good as him on the defensive side, and a mile better than him on the offensive side.
  20. They needed that win, considering everyone that they’re catching, also won tonight.
  21. Another goal that comes to mind is Burrows’ short-handed goal, against Carolina late in the game. That snapped the team’s 9 (?) game losing streak, saving Alain Vigneault job.
