  1. Meh, it’s memorable to me, because of all the shenanigans that led up to the goal.
  2. This is most memorable goal for me. This goal got everything imaginable, from the fan throwing a flag on the ice, the non-penalty call from Morrison chopping Iginla’s stick; then tripping over his own stick, Naslund going coast-to-coast, Kiprusoff water bottle meme face, Jovo jumping like a gorilla in the penalty box, and of course everyone’s favourite villain scoring the tying goal.
  3. The concerning part about Pettersson is how his body deals with his injuries and the type of injury. When he initially got injured they said it was going to be day-to-day, and as the days went by, it went from week-to-week, to being out the entire season. It’s a risk, throwing huge money at a player whose body takes longer to heal than others. Also, being a wrist injury, we seen first hand, the long term affect, at what it does to a player (Naslund).
  4. Speed is worthless, if you can’t use it to your advantage. Just look at Luis Mendoza.
  5. If you’re running a business, and you have two employees. One who is adequately productive at his job, and is there everyday. The other, is a bit more productive than the other but is only there 3/4 of the time (calling in sick, etc). Are you willing to pay employee B more money than employee A, just because he’s is a bit faster at his job than the other guy?
  6. I think the Jays are pretty much done. Vlad, Bo, and now Teoscar are all struggling at the plate. Starting pitching, aside from Ray has been mediocre, and the bullpen is still poop. EDIT: Just finished watching the highlights of the game. WTF was Palacios thinking on that play, at a time like that? I get making that dive in the middle innings, but the score was one-one in the goddamn bottom 8th. Also, if Montoya was planning on using Grichuk as a PH, in the 9th. Why wouldn’t you just make him a defensive sub in the bottom of the 8th?
  7. He’s proven to be more durable…..something Petey hasn’t done so far in his NHL career. I’d say Pettersson signs somewhere between 6-7M for three years. Ideally, to satisfy both parties, 6.5-7M for 3 years.
  8. I would have gone with Hull, but he’s technically Canadian. So, I went with LaFontaine. If it weren’t for injuries, he would have amassed 1500+ points.
  9. This is why the Aho-Pettersson contract comparable shouldn’t be a outline of his value. Aho was an offer sheet, that Carolina had to match. If you want to look at a better comparison look at Aho’s linemate Teravainen, who signed for 5.4M coming off a back-to-back 60+ points seasons. One, being a 76 points season. Petey, could get a bit more since that contract was signed 2 seasons ago.
  10. Anything involving a trade with New Jersey, would have to include Ty Smith and/or Severson.
  11. Shatkins probably kicking themselves when they could’ve had both Trea Turner and Max Scherzer, instead of just Berrios. Scherzer would have been a rental, but who knows, maybe he re-sign with the team because he believes they could go far? Turner would have replaced Semien, next year when he become a free agent.
  12. I’m surprised no one voted for Mogilny considering how many of you voted for Bure. IMO, Mogilny was more talented than Bure. Pat Quinn, who coached both, said Mogilny was the most talented player he’s ever coached. Former teammate Aucoin, said he would pick Almo over Bure. Fedorov, who also played with both players, in the Red Army, said Mogilny was the most talented and fastest one, out of the three of them.
  13. Well for one, Kesler had over 50+ more minutes than Burrows on the PK. And two, Burrows primarily played with Malhotra on the PK, not Kesler.
  14. I thought it was the right call to put the bunt on, BUT being a switch hitter, Valera should be bunting on the left side. So he can lay a bunt down to the third base side. It’s much more hard for the third basemen to pick up the ball, turn around, and throw a strike to third than to do what Schoop did.
  15. He’s actually one year older, but that point is irrelevant. Chychrun was thrusted into the league, because they (Arizona) thought he was ready with his size and skill. Looking back, he probably should have stayed in junior for a year. Since his sophomore year, he has gradually refined his game and now looks like that number one defensemen Arizona hoped for. I’m not trashing Hughes at all. He has that special offensive talent, than many defensemen wished they had. I’m just saying, if he wants to be paid like a top pair defensemen. He needs to start playing better without the puck in his own end.
  16. Chychrun had 12 goals when he signed that contract, on one of the worst offensive teams. This year, he improved and led the league in goals amongst defensemen, with 18 and placed 10th in Norris voting (although I thought he should have gotten more votes). He improved his game in his own end and has established himself as a number one defensemen for Arizona. Hughes, while somewhat maintaining his offensive numbers, hasn’t proved he can play without the puck and be that one number defensemen for a franchise. People complain last year, that Hughes would’ve had more points than Makar and should have won the Calder, if he played in Colorado. Well, the same could be said if Chychrun had played with Vancouver last season, instead of Arizona. His points total would probably be similar to Hughes’ points total last year.
  17. Hughes’ value should be similar to what Chychrun got last year (4.5m-5.5m). People many disagree, but you look at what Chychrun did in Arizona, where he improved his game. Whereas, Hughes sort of regressed. Hughes may put up better offensive numbers overall, but until he can prove that he’s able to play at both ends. I don’t see him getting that big dollar value.
  18. I think anything over 8M a year for Petey, I’m willing to throw his name out there in the trade market. I could see the Rangers as a good fit for him. He seem like the type of person who is made for the Big Apple. The Rangers have a ton of assets that we could be interested in. To Van: Lafrenière, Strome, and Lundkvist To NYR: Pettersson and a conditional pick (protected first, if Strome re-sign. 3rd round pick, if he walks)
  19. The poll is very vague, then. When I see the word greatest player, it bonds into one thing. Which in this case, skill, heart, leadership, community involvement, longevity, legacy, etc. How I see things: Bure is the most talented Canucks ever (although Mogilny would take his place if he tried and had a longer stint) Smyl had the most influential impact as a player. Linden/Sedins is the greatest players ever (depends on who you ask).
  20. You’re practically asking the same question…..aren’t you? If that wasn’t the case, then what the difference between this poll and the other one?
  21. No talent or awards can match Trevor’s heart. Linden emphasizes what a Canuck is. You heard stories and seen pictures of what he did for this organization, that many call him Captain Canuck.
  22. Without Linden scoring in game 6 in OT. There wouldn’t have been a game winning series goal for Bure to score.
