  1. Yay, another meaningless win in another wasted season! Let's drive for pick 13. Should get someone there that will be traded for another push for the playoffs in 5 years.
  2. https://nyihockeynow.com/bo-horvat-new-york-islanders-jean-gabriel-pageau-mathew-barzal-lou-lamoriello/ Happy for Horvat, he's doing really good and is carrying them into the playoffs. I hope they make it.
  3. The annual draft sabotage continues tonight, make sure we get on a big enough roll to draft right about where the prospects really drop off boys, wouldn't want to ruin next year's rollercoaster season.
  4. 1 of those deals is at the 5mil threshold, that's where all the players sit that people are saying we can trade, 5mil or more. 6.65 for Brock, 6 for Myers, 4.95 for Garland, 8 for Miller. Those are the trade candidates most referred to here when people say we will trade out cap space. I'm saying there is no way we trade any of those players without retention or sweeteners. I probably could have worded my post better to say the Canucks won't be able to trade cap out. Unfortunately all of the above Canucks minus Miller have underachieved. We might get lucky and be able to send out Boeser to Minnesota in the offseason when Dumba comes off the books, not sure we would get very good value back, forgot about that possibility as well, since they traded for Klingberg.
  5. Figures. It's time for our annual screw up the draft run. Also...wtf? People in here now think that the poor season was an accident? That this team isn't bad but unlucky? Come on. This team is very bad and you can't plan on making the playoffs on the back of Demko returning to form and hoping our bad defense suddenly learns how to play. We are in a weak part of the schedule, remember that if this team reels off a bunch of wins.
  6. It amazes me how people think that we can just ship cap out, taking nothing but picks in return and life is great. In the cap era, if you move cap out you will be taking some cap back or attaching picks to that cap. Since this team needs picks that means they have to get creative in moving contracts out. We can only retain on 2 players so realistically we probably can only move 1 or 2 over 5mil contracts out. Most likely moved are Boeser and Myers, both of whom we have to add a sweetener, retain or take cap back. I would expect that we would retain on Myers there would be no sweeteners required. For Boeser because there is term we more than likely have to take a cap hit back. I don't see anyway that we make vast improvements to the team in a single offseason with a relatively flat cap.
  7. Right, I forgot we traded for him while he was injured. I was wondering why he wasn't playing. Let's try not to get out tanked by the Preds this game team. We needed to beat the Leafs, that was fun but time to get back to tank time. Would like to see a hard played, close loss please.
  8. I mean, this is seriously flawed logic. You folks all understand that the Canucks in the offseason will have 11 forwards, 4 defensemen and 1 goalie under contract for about 75mil. If Poolman & Pearson come off LTIR then we are at the cap ceiling. Those of saying, "Oh, we'll just trade x, y, z and sign some unicorns that will 100% sign on the cheap" are out of your collective minds. The Canucks are going to have to pay HUGE amounts to get out from this cap hell. Miller will not be traded not without taking a loss. OEL is untradeable, just a horrid contract with way too much $ & term. Myers with cap retained and a sweetener might go, Garland & Boeser likewise. The Canucks are in a position of weakness this offseason, I don't expect the other 31 teams to line up to help, they are licking their chops waiting to pounce. I don't fully blame this management but they didn't help by adding Boeser, Miller and Hronek to the problem Benning created. If Alvin manages to shed contracts and improve this roster it'll be a miracle. I expect that next years Canucks will be a weaker roster on paper than we have now. Tocchet will have to work real hard to coach a lesser group to a better record.
  9. I do, he's hilarious. Watched him after the zamboni driver game.
  10. I am 100% invested in the tank this year, still, this win is acceptable since it's against the Leafs and their weirdo fans.
  11. Yay, win now with a flawed team that can't win! Let's keep adding soft, expensive talent and calling this 10+ year rebuild a re-tool! I honestly hope Aquaman never sees playoff revenue ever again.
  12. ...You should probably check out how we got them. I think humor might have left the building.
  13. You're right, our approach of missing 7 of 8 years is better...Jesus people, just do a quick Google search before you post. The 1 year we made it we wouldn't have if not for the play in. The last 10 years we legitimately made the playoffs 1 time.
  14. There is no way in hell we trade Miller, not in a million years, QUOTE ME ON THAT. (Hoping this works like saying shutout)
  15. And people mocked me when I said we will come out of this trade deadline with less picks than we went in with. I know nothing about this guy, research time.
  16. Retain 3 mil on Myers, gives them an asset to trade at next year's deadline that will have good value, they can throw in a 2nd for that.
  17. I don't know how people didn't see it when we made the trade, he was steadily declining before we ever got him. People here tried to blame that decline on the Coyotes but it was pretty obvious that he wasn't worth his contract. I really hate Benning for not being patient enough to wait out those 3 horrible contracts for 1 more year.
  18. Context helps, usually we trade a third for garbage or nothing. We just traded Hughes partner for a 3rd, so yeah trade a 3rd WTF get a 3rd..meh.
  19. I stand by my original ask, that if the Canucks weren't offered at least a 2nd they should keep Schenn. A 3rd isn't good enough. You take a lesser pick and piss off your best defenseman in Hughes...just, sub par.
  20. So you judged his defensive abilities and made a conclusion based on what a 22 year old defenseman was doing on a poor team? Meanwhile Elite Prospects had this to say: A colossal defensive defenceman that skates well and understands both sides of the puck. Displays fluid four-way skating ability and backchecks hard. Very proactive stick and adheres to the physical side of the game. Finds lanes and tracks the puck well in his own end, and will pressure the opposition to make hastier decisions. Great vision and willingness to move the puck up-ice quickly. Possesses a very strong shot and natural puck skills. Very good positionally in the offensive end and knows how to hem the opponents in. Excellent board play and always looks to keep opponents to the outside. The only real downside to Tryamkin's game was and is that he isn't going to contribute offensively. He left on his own accord because Willie D didn't communicate well with him, he was even quoted as saying ”Getting decent playing time. But not for 12 minutes in the game to come out. This I do not want... During the season, I was not happy with some of the matches … Sometimes I just do not understand — why?” There was obviously going to be communication issues but WD as we all know just isn't a good coach. If there was ever a time to try to get a guy who can be a terrific #5/6 defenseman it would be now with Gonchar in place his ability to properly communicate with Tryamkin could potentially see him grow into a 3/4 guy. I personally think it's ignorant to write him off based on an assessment you made 7 years ago when he was a foreign kid trying to learn the game but to each their own.
  21. Time to start putting some tranquilizers in the bananas. That freaking Kuzmenko is costing us big. We don't need another mid level pick that is meh. We need a Pettersson type home run if we are ever to get out of this perpetual cycle of being not good enough to make the playoffs but too good to get a decent pick.
